Periodontal treatment is necessary when various conditions affect the health of your gums and the regions of your jawbone that hold your teeth in place. Retaining your teeth is directly dependent on proper periodontal care and maintenance. Healthy gums enhance the appearance of your teeth, like a frame around a beautiful painting. When your gums become unhealthy, they can either recede or become swollen and red. In later stages, the supporting bone is destroyed and your teeth will shift, loosen, or fall out. These changes not only affect your ability to chew and speak. They also spoil your smile.

Periodontal diseases are ongoing infections of the gums that gradually destroy the support of your natural teeth. Dental plaque is the primary cause of gum disease in genetically-susceptible individuals. Bacteria found in plaque produce toxins or poisons that irritate the gums. They may cause them to turn red, swell, and bleed easily. If this irritation is prolonged, the gums separate from the teeth causing pockets (spaces) to form. Plaque can also harden into a rough, porous substance known as calculus (or tartar). This can occur both above and below the gum line. As periodontal diseases progress, the supporting gum tissue and bone that holds teeth in place deteriorate. If left untreated, this leads to tooth loss. However, dont be fooled. With periodontal disease, bleeding, redness, and swelling do not have to be present. Further, pain is usually not associated with periodontal disease. This disease damages the teeth, gum, and jawbone of more than 80 percent of Americans by age 45.

Periodontal Disease as well as decay are both caused by Bacterial Plaque. Plaque is a sticky colorless film, composed primarily of various types of bacteria, which adhere to your teeth at and below the gum line. Plaque constantly forms on your teeth. It begins to form within minutes after cleaning. If not carefully removed by daily brushing and flossing, plaque hardens into a rough, porous substance known as calculus (or tartar). This cannot be removed without professional cleaning.

The Bacterial plaque produces toxins or poisons that irritate the gums, which may (but not always) cause them to turn red, swell and bleed easily. If this irritation is prolonged, the gums separate from the teeth, causing Periodontal Pockets (spaces) to form along the tooth. As periodontal diseases progress, the supporting gum tissue and bone that holds teeth in place deteriorate. If left untreated, this leads to tooth loss.

I never do these, but I just had to try and express my sincerest gratitude to Dr. Wilde and his staff even knowing my words could never do enough justice. Everyone need a Dr. Wilde in their life if they suffer from any kind of hesitancy/anxiety in the dental chair. This man and his staff are a complete game changer and this is coming from someone with the worst anxiety about stepping one foot inside a clinic. I'm forever grateful.

Went to see Dr Wilde's he knew right away what was wrong, sent me to have a special X-ray just to verify what was happening, he was right. I had a tooth removed and a implant installed....all went fine . I found Dr Wild to be a professional and his staff friendly, caring and accommodating...I would definitely recommend this establishment also I'm in the process of having my teeth deep cleaned and I'm pleased with the results.

Was told the only prepayment would be for the anesthesiologist. That was a lie. Had to prepay for the whole thing. Wouldn't be so bad but it's christmas time and now thats $700 less towards my kids chriatmas. Plus the iv sedation doesnt make you not remember. I remember everything. It's christmas time and all this dr can think about is his payment. Way to go doc. I'll find a new one. And the lady up front couldnt even remember what she was supposed to prescribe me. I had to tell her. I will not be back.
