Overjets occur when the upper front teeth are pushed too far forward, resulting in buck teeth. They can be caused by a lower jaw that is too small, as well as habits such as thumb sucking or pacifier use.

Crossbites occur when the top teeth fit inside the lower teeth and can be caused by misalignment of the teeth or of the bone. One tooth or several tooth can be affected. If not corrected, the jaw may shift to one side and there can be lopsided jaw growth. Additionally, the enamel of the teeth will be worn down more quickly.

Protrusion occurs when the front teeth stick out. It is also commonly referred to as buck teeth. The teeth may protrude because the jaw is positioned to far forward or the lower jaw is too far back, or because the teeth have grown in at an angle. If not corrected, the upper teeth are more prone to breakage and it can be uncomfortable to close the mouth. Patients may also experience speech issues.

Crowding occurs when there is insufficient space for the teeth to align properly. This can occur when teeth are either too large, or the jaw is not large enough to accommodate all teeth. The teeth may then overlap, rotate or appear crooked. Crowded teeth are harder to clean, resulting in higher risk for cavities and gum disease.

Spacing occurs when there is too much space between the teeth as a result of missing teeth, undersized teeth, or oversized jaws. It is easier for food to get left in these spaces, leaving patients susceptible to gum disease and cavities.

Open bites occur when the back teeth fit together but the front teeth do not. This often is the result of habits such as extended thumbsucking or pacifier use, or tongue thrusting. Issues with swallowing and/or speech may occur if not corrected.

Deep bite is characterized by the top front teeth covering too much of the bottom front teeth when the mouth is closed. If not corrected, the upper teeth can bite into the gums and the lower teeth can bite into the roof of the mouth. Patients are also more susceptible to gum disease and enamel wear.

Self-Ligating braces are similar to standard metal braces, however they dont use an elastic to hold the wire to the bracket. Self-ligating braces use special clips to hold the archwire in place. This results in less friction and discomfort during treatment.

Ceramic Braces use brackets and wires just like metal braces, however, the brackets will be matched to the color of the patients teeth to blend in better. They offer the efficiency of metal braces with the cosmetics of other more discreet options.

Invisalign offers patients a nearly invisible way to straighten their teeth through a series of removable, clear aligners. Each set is worn for approximately two weeks and is perfectly calibrated to reach a certain tooth movement before moving on to the next set.

Metal Braces consist of brackets and wires that guide the teeth into their new locations over the course of treatment. Brackets are affixed to the teeth and wires are connected using small elastics. They highly efficient and effective, and todays metal braces are smaller and sleeker than ever before. They are also the most cost-effective treatment option.

Lingual Braces offer an almost invisible way to straighten your teeth, using the efficiency of metal brackets and wires that are affixed to the tongue, or lingual, side of your teeth. They work the same way standard metal braces do, but because of their placement, most people wont even know youre in orthodontic treatment.
