As an orthodontist, I have the ability to transform each patients life. People finish treatment with better oral health and a beautiful smile that improves their self-esteem and the confidence with which they greet the world. When a person feels good about their appearance, its obvious in all parts of their life: theyre more comfortable around their peers, whether at school or work, and thats reflected in their smile!
Every day, my team and I see patients start treatment feeling self-conscious and hiding their crooked teeth. As they see the change in their appearance, they start to feelbetter about themselves and more comfortable around others. By the time we finish treatment, patients know they look great and they cant stop smiling!
My Doctorate of Dental Surgerywas awarded by New York University College of Dentistry in 1983. I proudly served our countryin the U.S. Armyas a Captain and General Dental Officer for four years. At the completion of my military service, I returned to schoolat Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry, where I completed a two-year post-doctoral program in orthodontics in 1989.
Each year, I complete numerous continuing education courses. Iam a board-certified orthodontic specialist. I participate in study clubs and attend lectures and seminars, to learnfrom leading practitioners and researchers in the field. This ensures Im uptodate on the latest advances in techniques and materials, and am providing my patients with the best care available.
My wifeFrancineand I have called Centrevillehome since 1993. Together, we have four beautiful children: two sons and two daughters. In 2012, we adopted from the Fairfax County Humane Society andtwo beautiful Cavachon sisters joined our family!
When Im not in the office, my happiest times are spent with my family. I can also often be found working on one of my American-built muscle cars and enjoying long-distance running. I love musictoo, especially playing my guitar.
Im a committee member for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Patriots Pen scholarship, which offers scholarships to middle-school students, and the VFW Voice of Democracy scholarship, which provides scholarships to high-school students.
I also volunteer with the VFW by helping veterans with assorted veteran-related issues. In addition, I participate in Mission of Mercy, to provideoral healthcare to those in our community who are less privileged.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.
Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!
Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.

I wish I would've known before taking my child here. Don't trust them at all. It's a long story but please research before. Those 5 stars seem like a lie. I agree with the other person's review of only 1... exactly what they described. This has been 2 painful years and I feel like I'm stuck. They don't call to follow up, if you are not on top they won't make appointments and will still charge you. On top, my kid said doc was rough when working and seemed annoyed. He was fine at the beginning but then started changing. Of course! Nice until you sign the contract.

As other reviews mentioned, he is rude to patients and he is very rude to the staff. My teeth also look the same after wearing braces and going here for a couple of years.

I can't express how amazing this office is. I've been bringing my son here since he was 7 and he is now 13. He had severe crowding, impactions and what seemed like the whole nine yards in the dental world. The staff is very friendly and basically treat you like family. I'm very surprised by the negative reviews that were out on here because I've never experienced any of this. I've gone back with my son every appointment when he was younger but now that he's older he doesn't want me to. He loves socializing with the staff and especially the doctor. Jenn and Karin at the front are always so welcoming when u come in the door and always asking how everything is going and how the family is doing. I practically feel Iike they are part of my family. If your looking for a great office for your orthodontic needs this is the office to go to. I've recommended friends and family that have started treatment and are thankful I sent them there.

DO NOT COME HERE! All of these 15 5-star reviews are fake, trust me. Check yelp instead of google since yelp actually has legit reviews and you'll see that EVERY SINGLE REVIEWER rated him 1 Star, literally. There is a reason for this. As one of his unfortunate patients for 2 years I am telling you straight from the source that Filippone is a terrible and truly evil man. He is incredible rude and very rough with the patients. If you actually care about your kids you will not bring them here because he literally abuses them and will cause them severe pain and fear that no other orthodontist would have the evilness to do. even his own technicians were scared of him! Very evident he is an angry dangerous man who clearly hates the world, his life, his job, I'm not sure but I know for a fact that he is mentally unstable. He is also a money grabber and will say he needs to do very expensive treatments that aren't even necessary. All he cares about is money. Me and my mom went in for the consultation and he was so nice. But after that initial consultation, I realized it was just an act and his true demeanor showed. Again, please check yelp and it will verify all of the information I am telling you right now as I know this 1 Star review will be highly suspicious due to the massive volume of 5-star reviews. I believe these "reviewers" were clearly paid or it was his family members/friends. Realize all that needs to be done is create a gmail account to post a review so for all we know he could have made 15 accounts and wrote each review himself! There are so many other orthodontists in this area who will do a great job, not recommend expensive and unnecessary treatments, and actually care about the patients and not cause them harm/pain.

I am an adult patient who has been with Dr Fillipone for a little over 1 year. My kids were treated by him years ago so I knew he does great work. So far I am very pleased with his work and staff. My teeth look really great. Jenn worked out a convenient contract with me, no interest or late fees and broken up over 24 months, and my insurance is paying part of the cost. Thanks for working with me.

Could not have chosen a better orthodontist. My teeth were a mess and I'm beyond happy with my results so far. Dr. Filippone is not only professional but also kind. You always feel welcomed coming in for your appointments. Great team, super friendly, understanding, and lighthearted. Cannot say enough good things about this place. 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

Dr Filippone has been treating me for Invisalign for over a year now. He and his staff have been extremely professional, caring and accomodating to my questions regarding my treatment, scheduling and financing. I have been very happy!

These guys took awesome care of me for the 3 years it took to get my teeth in order and I walked away feeling like I had a sense of place with them, definitely an Orthodontic practice I would recommend to anybody in the area.

Words can't describe how amazing Dr.Filippone and his staff are. If I could give 10 stars I would!! Dr. Filippone and his team are simply amazing. They are always helpful and respond to after hours messages in a fast and professional manner. Dr.Filippone and his staff are like family they know all of the patients by name and they treat them like they are part of the family. Dr. Filippone and his staff walked me through the whole process step by step. Also answered questions that I had . I will continue to recommend them to all my friends, family, and strangers :)

Dr. Filippone is a very professional and knowledgeable orthodontist. His staff is patient and kind. In emergencies, they do their best to accommodate my kids to come to the office as soon as possible. The waiting room is spacious and pleasant. It is a patient oriented business. .
