Loudoun Periodontics - Periodontist in Purcellville, VA

Dr. Marvil has been sought out by many of her current patients because of her reputation as a skilled clinician and her ability to listen and treat patients with a gentle caring touch. Dr. Marvil is highly regarded by her peers as an accomplished surgeon as well as a sensitive and caring person.

Dr. Lisa Marvil grew up in Loudoun County, had her first pony by the time she was three, was a member of the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club and attended Lovettsville Elementary, Blue Ridge Middle School, and finally Loudoun Valley High School. It has always been her goal to return to Loudoun County where she has such fond childhood memories and raise a family of her own.

She graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in English Literature and completed a Masters in teaching at Duke University. After the experience of teaching both abroad and in the US, Lisa decided she might be interested in pursuing something else. She called her family dentist in Leesburg and asked if she could come and help out, and from that moment on she was hooked. She left her small horse farm in Lovettsville, and Lisa attended dental school at Harvard University.

After graduating from Harvard where she was the recipient of the Quintessence Award for Excellence in Clinical Periodontology, she received a Masters degree in Health Sciences and her Certificate in Periodontology from the Medical University of South Carolina where she was chief resident in her final year. Her research interests include laboratory research in mucositis secondary to antineoplastic treatment and clinical evaluation of long-term implant survival rates. Dr. Marvil is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

My teenage son needed a surgical procedure that was intricate & rather scary for him. Dr. Marvil & her staff made us both feel comfortable & confident that he was in excellent hands. She did a beautiful job, even his dentist & orthodontist complimented her precision.

Dr. Marvil and her team take such great care of me! I tend to be a bit fearful about dental procedures, but they are excellent about calming my nerves. I am so grateful to have chosen Dr. M to do my implant years ago. Their continued care over the years has made all the difference in my dental health.

I am not very impressed by this practice at all. My very first experience was not a great one. I felt like the assistants didn't really know what they were doing and I felt rushed to try and figure out my financial situation after I was told I had to pay 1k straight out of pocket. I had a Frenectomy done and I have been in severe pain since. I called twice about my pain and the best answer they gave me was "there is nothing we can do, you need to take Tylenol." A doctors job is to make sure the patients pain is manageable no matter the situation. I have been in misery since. This is definitely a dentist centered office and not client centered at all. I honestly do not recommend. Please save your money.

Dr Marvil please do not negate my review by saying I am not one of your clients. I have seen that on your other reviews. Dr Marvil is not transparent and not to be trusted. My dentist is no longer referring to this doctor anymore. I was charged more than $1000 over what was originally quoted. After I could not pay it off , I was given one year. After two months, I was charged extra. When I tried to talk to Dr Marvil for further explanation, she refused to talk to me. instead I had to talk to all the other people on staff. The $5000 procedure was worthless. The time spent on this was worthless. I wish someone out there would have told me not to go here. Please think twice if you are choosing this dentist. Thank you.

I had great experience at Dr. Marvil's office! She seamlessly implemented my gum graft surgery; I had no complications during or post-op. She also clearly cares about her patients, and called to check in on me a couple hours after my procedure. Her staff are also very professional and kind. Would def recommend her to friends and family.

What a wonderful experience for a procedure that should have been painful. Excellent care and customer service. Very caring practice. I cannot express enough praise for Dr . Marvin, I had unexpected concerns arise during a bone graft and implant. She listened to my concerns and reassured me me through the process. Following instructions are key to post op care and recovery. Wonderful support staff and assistants. I ask a lot of questions and they are very patient and happy to answer all my questions. Highly recommend for oral surgery/implant needs. Very professional and caring practice.

I have had a lifetime of dental issues and seen several periodontists in the area over the past 20+ years. Dr. Marvil is, by far, the best experience I have ever had. She is professional and compassionate. Her manner puts you at ease and she explains everything she is doing. I felt heard and appropriately cared for by her and her staff. I highly recommend Dr. Marvil.

If I could give a zero star, I definitely would. I had a horrible experience with dr Marvil and her staff at Sterling office. I had a gum recession surgery with them last year. After a year and not seeing any improvements, I called the office to make an appointment for a consult to discuss my concerns. I confirmed with the front desk that I could get a free consult , and Dr Marvil spent max of a few mins to check my gum and I was told this was the best she could get done!!! and referred me to my regular dentist for further treatments. Then she started shortening the treated tooth without my agreement or discussing any charges, which took less than 2 mins. Upon check out, I was told there was no charge for the consult that day. Now, after one months they called me to notify me I have to pay $ 155 out of pocket because my insurance maxed out. It's totally a RIP OFF. Never ever come back to them.what they did is so unprofessional and unethical.

I was told to see a periodontist. The hygienist suggested Dr. Marvil. These people went so far above and beyond their duties to help me with my problem, I still can't believe it. They were more helpful than any medical or dental professionals I have ever worked with. Definitely would recommend Dr. Marvil and her staff.

An appointment for cleanings are always 6 months out and if you have to cancel at the last minute for life's little emergencies you are back in the queue for another up to a 6 month wait. Majority of the staff is meh. 100% not impressed. Looking for another dentist office... done with this place.
