Dr. Loucks is a native of Grinnell and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Grinnell College with a degree in biology. Hereceived hisDoctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Iowa and was class valedictorian. Hecompleted a full-timeresidency programat the University of Iowaand earneda Master of Science and a Certificate of Orthodontics. He began practicing orthodontics in Newton and Grinnell since 1983, and retired from full-time practice in 2021.

Dr. Loucks is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodonticsand is a former adjunct clinical professor of orthodontics at the University of Iowa. He isa past president of the Iowa Society of Orthodontists and a member of the following professional organizations:

Dr. Loucks chose to remain near hishometown since hewanted to raise hisfamily in the same kind of small-town community in which hegrew up. He and hiswife, Laura, were highschool sweethearts and have three children: Jennifer, Ryan, and Spencer. Theyalso have fivegrandchildren: William, Aven, Rowen,Samuel and Vaida.

In 2021, after 37 years of creating beautiful smiles, Dr Carney Loucks retired from full-time orthodontic practice and is enjoying more time to travel with his wife and spend more time with his grandchildren.

My interest in orthodontics started at an early age. I had the opportunity to work in our office while I was in high school and during that time saw just how important orthodontic treatment was to our patients and their families. I was so excited to return to my hometown in 2006 and join my father in the practice I had grown up admiring.'

Dr. Buren was raised in Newton and attended Grinnell College, where sheearned herBA in biology. Shewent on to earn herDoctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where shewas elected senior class president and received numerous deans leadership awards. Shealso had the pleasure of serving as president of Iowas chapter of the American Association of Dentistry for Children. These experiences and many hours in clinical rotation helped herrealize just how much sheenjoyed working with young people and that orthodontics was a perfect fit.

Dr. Buren completed a full-timeresidency programat the University of Iowa where shereceived aCertificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science. Herresearch on enamel demineralization (white spots) is published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedicsand she isBoard Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.

Orthodontics is a constantly evolving field, which makesstaying current on new technologies and treatments through continuing education very important. Dr. Buren enjoys working to provide her patients with the most up to date and effective orthodontic treatment possible. She isalso a member of these professional organizations:

Away from work Dr. Buren and herhusband, Chris,stay busy raising theirtwo sons, William and Samuel. Shealso enjoys spending time with herextended family, watching movies, and cheering on the Hawkeyes!

I love our patients. They are great and always have great stories to share! I never know what theyre going to say, but its guaranteed to be interesting. I love watching them gain confidence in their appearance as they see their smile change, and being part of that process. I work with patients to findpayment arrangements that fittheir needs and help them obtain their insurance benefits.

Im originally from Colfax and now live in Newton with my husbandMark. Our sonBen and his wife, Emily live in West Des Moines with our new grandson, Lincoln.My favorite times are spent with my family and loved ones.

I love helping people develop great smiles! Every person comes in with the dream of a healthy, becoming smile, and we make that happen for them. During their visits we chat, and often become friends. I enjoy learning about a persons interests and activities. I offer chairside assistance, supporting our doctors and patients during procedures.

Seeing patients every four to six weeks means I get to stay current on whats happening in their lives. Whether its the prom, sporting activities, vacations, classes, or a promotion at work, each person always has something new to share. During a patients visit, I sit chairside, assisting the doctor and keeping the patient updated on what were doing.

I enjoy getting to knowour wonderful patients and hearing about their lives. Each person always has something new to share and I love learning who they are. Watching our patientsdevelop beautiful smiles makes each day a joy! I assist our doctors as they care for our patients, and makesure they have everything needed. At the same time, I make sure our patient is comfy.

I love seeing our patients and their families during their visits, and showing patients their progress. The before- and after-treatment photos never fail to amaze me;its incredible how much each person changes with a confident and beautiful smile! My days are spent working with patients, supporting them during procedures, while talking and laughing with them.
