Dr. DeLong is a third generation dentist. With experience derived from time spent assisting his father at a young age to performing dentistry in remote locations around the world, he has developed unique perspective, intuition and skills. He has practiced in some of the most advanced dental settings from a technological, medical and holistic standpoint. He is still on staff and works periodically at Pure Health Dentistry on the island of Maui.
Throughout his own health journey, Dr. DeLong has benefitted greatly from the care and services offered by other holistic medical professionals. There is so much current science on wellness and human health that supports this philosophy. His practice of meditation and yoga, have guided his evolution as a person and dentist.
When setting out to start his own practice, Dr. DeLong had the goals of offering the highest quality dental services in a mindful, holistic, high tech, eco friendly setting. He met Dr. Jeff Williamson during his planning phase and they both saw a great opportunity. Dr. Williamson has been one of the Northwests best holistic dentists for over 30 years and was ready to retire. Dr. DeLong knew the benefits of joining a great mentor and office with all the systems in place to treat patients in a holistic and high quality environment.
In April of 2017 Dr. DeLong purchased Centerpointe Dental and Dr. Williamson retired. The practice has changed its name to Lotus Dental Wellness.The vision of the practice moving forward is to continue providing a high level of care and commitment to holistic, health centered dentistry while implementing new technology and systems to enhance patient care and environmental stewardship.
Dr. Whitney Nagy grew up around her fathers dental practice. However, it wasnt until she accompanied him on medical mission trips in high school that she decided to follow in his footsteps. It was there she realized her desire to help others and how important oral health is to ones overall health and well-being.She attended dental school in her home state of Missouri, where she graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Since graduating, she has experience treating a wide variety of dental procedures. However, the art and design required to achieve a beautiful, lasting smile keep her especially drawn to cosmetic dentistry and always striving to provide her patients with a healthy smile they are proud to show off. She strongly believes in the therapeutic effects of smiling, and how its not only good for the soul but also for our overall health!
Dr Whitney has always been interested in holistic and integrative healthcare. She strongly believes in the interconnectedness of all things, and thats especially true when it comes to our bodies. In the past few years, educating herself in this area has become even more imperative as shes faced obstacles to her own health. Trying to put together the pieces of this interrelated puzzle led her to seek the care of naturopaths and integrative healthcare professionals. The information has led her to not only make lifestyle and workplace changes to benefit her own health, but also to learn what she can do to protect and enhance the health of her patients by bringing more holistic principals to the dental chair. Valuing relationships and personalized care, she opposes a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to treatment planning, and partners with her patients to come up with the best treatment plan, customized to their specific needs. She also believes that you can never be over-informed when it comes to your oral and overall health, and values patient education.
Considering herself a lifelong learner and student, Dr. Whitney values staying up-to-date on the latest treatment options, especially biologic, minimally invasive and aesthetic dentistry. To help her maintain this, she is a member of multiple organizations, including the National and Local chapters of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. She also participates in the local SPEAR study clubs and is an avid continuing education junkie.In pursuit of other passions, Dr. Whitney is almost complete with her 200 hour yoga teacher certification, after which she is continuing on to become a pre-natal yoga teacher and doula. She believes strongly in the healing power of yoga and strengthening ones connection of mind, body, spirit, soul; as well as the connection with others and the natural world.When shes not in the office or on the yoga mat, Dr. Whitney loves spending time with her husband, Michael, and their furballs, Jackson and June. You will most likely find them outdoors, usually hiking, or in one of their favorite restaurants, eating Portlands delicious food!She is excited to join the team and cant wait to meet you

I'm Kazue Bushnell. I was seen by Dr Dan today. Because of him, I'm able to avoid at least 2 unnecessary do over of my implants and two crowns. For the first time, I was referred to the periodontist who could prevent the future infection. I had ozone therapy and one filling. I had the best experience. Every staff I had contact with was exceptionaly kind and knowledgeable.

These people are the nicest! They were recommended to me. Unfortunately, I put off going until I had a tooth issue (in pain)... but they made room for me in their booked schedule for my emergency visit. It's a longer drive to them for me, but so worth it. I really like these people. So professional, kind, and on top of things. What a great crew. Much gratitude to them.

I have been a patient at Lotus Dental Wellness for a few years now. They safely removed a large amalgam filling that I had and expertly replaced it with a safe, non-toxic filling. I regularly get my teeth cleaned there as well. I have only had good experiences. All the staff are professional, personable and genuinely committed to the health and care of their patients.

I had the best experience at Lotus Dental Wellness yesterday! Mary was the best hygienist I have EVER had and Dr. Nagy was absolutely fantastic! So thorough and so helpful. They both answered all of my questions and made me feel so comfortable and safe. I am so grateful for their holistic approach and top quality care! Best in the Portland area, hands down. :)

This is the most amazing Dental office I have ever been to. Doctor Shepard Delong is so caring , kind and the work he does is with great attention and nothing but the best for his patients. One of his staff members named Anna was assisting him yesterday as I had surgeries and other things done in my mouth. She cared for me as if I was a family member, giving me a warm neck pillow, making sure I was warm by covering me with a blanket, wiping my mouth and putting salve on my lips regularly through the whole time I was there. She was so gentle and encouraged me through the whole process. Her and the Dentist went above and beyond for me . The office and bathroom is clean, organized and their equipment is high technology that I have never seen in any other Dental office. Look no further if you are looking for a trustworthy Dentist and staff to do for you as they would for a family member. If I could I would give more then 5 stars.

Lotus Dental Wellness is absolutely WONDERFUL! You will really luck out if you just found them by accident, because Dr. DeLong and Lotus Dental Wellness utilize some of the most cutting-edge dental techniques in existence. After viewing the film 'Root Cause,' I went specifically looking for a biological dentist to address a failing root canal. What a pleasant surprise to have a skilled biological dentist right here in Portland, as few exist in the world. Lotus offers platelet-rich fibrin, ozone therapy, pure zirconia implants, dental meridian charting and sleep dentistry among other atypical services. I am currently halfway through my zirconia implant process and couldn't be happier with the exceptional care I've received at Lotus Dental Wellness. Every staff member is highly knowledgable and also very personable. It's really a treat to visit an office where patients are so warmly welcomed and remembered. Just can't say enough good things about Dr. DeLong and Lotus Dental Wellness!

The Lotus team is amazing! I just had my first cleaning (at this office) done by Mary. It was the most gentle, educational and relaxing dental visit I have ever had. She was very personable. She took the time to teach me about different dental conditions and what I can do to avoid them. Upon arrival they had a sanitation station outside the office and took my temperature before entering. This is greatly appreciated. I arrived five minutes early and was taken back for my cleaning right on time! The office was nicely decorated for the holidays and clean. All of the staff were professional, kind, and knowledgable. I greatly appreciate the warm welcome I received in the front office from Scarlett and the fact that both Dr.Whitney Nagy and Dr. Shepard DeLong made the time to introduce themselves. I'm looking forward to having all of my dental care done by the Lotus team in the future.

As I sit here comfortably in the dentist chair with a numbing agent setting in I am calm. That is usually an impossible statement, but Amy just smoothly cleaned my teeth with care and helped me be okay with shots in the gums for the first time in my dentistry experience. Now I am unusually excited for my last cavity to be filled by Dr. Whitney with great help from Emmy. I know that my tooth is in good hands. Before being filled by the team here, my previous cavity was a pest on my everyday life and after my visit here it immediately left my mind. The minimal and preventative dentistry they employ is a breath of fresh air in an industry that drills first and asks questions later. The trust is left with patient at-home dental habits with great support from in-office cleanings and prevention. Their work is concise, intentional and accurate. I've learned a lot about dentistry and the WHYs behind practices from my few visits. Worth my 1.5hour drive for my appointments. Lotus Dental Staff: Thank you! I am a new patient at Lotus Dental Wellness. I was told at my former dental office that I needed a crown where I had lost a filling. I was pleasantly surprised when Dr. Whitney thought maybe all they needed to do was replace the filling. I was quickly scheduled for a cleaning and had the filling replaced with no issues whatsoever. Emmy and Dr. Whitney were very thorough and I was comfortable throughout the whole procedure. So happy to be cared for by these true professionals! Thank you!

I am impressed with the care provided by Dr. DeLong and his staff. Every effort is made to safeguard patients from COVID-19, answer questions, explain procedures, and provide state-of-the art technology to offer cutting-edge solutions to dental challenges. I was disillusioned by a failed implant from another provider. A cavity had led to a root canal, infection, tooth removal, unsuccessful bone graft, and the faulty implant. Dr. DeLong was compassionate and unwavering in his assurance that he could fix the problem. Today the crown for the implant was positioned and I am very happy with the results. I was a participant in the process at all times (decided not to use sedatives, given digital images to see proposed work, and given progress updates during procedures). I highly recommend Lotus Dental Wellness for professionalism, expertise, and congenial staff.
