Continuing education been a critical part of Dr. Diercks trajectory in dentistry over the past few decades. He has completed several advanced courses about dental implants (both placement and restoration) and root canal therapy in particular he actually performs all of the root canal procedures here at Los Gatos Dental Group!
Dr. Diercks was also among the first dentists in California to be trained and certified in PIPS (Photon Induced Photoacoustic Streaming), which is a revolutionary method of performing root canals that improves treatment outcomes. He has been a certified provide of Invisalign since 2000, as well as a clinical instructor for Western Surgical and Sedation, where he taught other dentists how to perform IV sedation and surgical wisdom teeth removal techniques.
Born and raised in San Mateo, Dr. Diercks graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in Microbiology in 1993. He then went on to achieve his dental doctorate in 1998 from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Today he is a member of the California Dental Association, American Dental Association, and the Santa Clara County Dental Association.
When he isnt busy with teeth, Dr. Diercks enjoys doing just about anything in the great outdoors scuba diving, wakeboarding, and snowboarding are some of his favorite activities! You can also find him on the golf course pretty often, usually looking for his lost balls. When the weather is nice, he loves being out on his motorcycle. And of course, spending quality time with his wife, son, daughter, two dogs, and cat is always a top priority.
When she was a practicing dentist in San Francisco, Dr. Karamardian became involved with the San Francisco Dental Society and was elected as its President in 2001. In this role, she worked closely with the San Francisco Department of Public Health to start the first city-wide kindergarten dental screening program! This program successfully screened over 3,000 children in its first year and has continued to grow ever since. In 2004, she was nominated to join the prestigious International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists. She is also a member of the Santa Clara Dental Society, the California Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Liza Karamardian has been practicing dentistry for over 25 years in the Bay Area. She graduated from UC Irvine with a BS in Biology in 1988. She then attended the UCLA School of Dentistry, graduating in 1993. She practiced in the city of San Francisco for 12 years before moving to the South Bay and enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and believes in treating the whole person with a strong emphasis on the link between oral and systemic health. Dr. Karamardian is actively involved in her profession and continues to further her dental skills by attending many continuing education classes throughout the year.
While in dental school, Dr. Karamardian won several awards from her instructors and the administration. As a practicing dentist in San Francisco, she became involved with the San Francisco Dental Society and was elected as its President in 2001. In this role, she worked with the San Francisco Department of Public Health to start the first city-wide kindergarten dental screening program. Dr. Karamardian currently lives in Los Gatos with her husband and two children. When not busy at the dental office, she really enjoys volunteering at various community events and her kids schools. She also regularly attends yoga and aerobic classes at Courtside Club in order to stay fit.

I have been a patient of Dr. Diercks for several years and have had thousands of dollars worth of work completed by him. Lately I have had a great deal of unexpected Dental anxiety and he has been very compassionate and helpful with this issue. He offers several options to help you with your anxiety and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent, professional and highly experienced Dentist. He naturally calms your anxiety just by talking with you, answering your questions and explaining the work he is about to perform. He takes the time to answer all of your questions and I have very much appreciated having him work on my teeth. If you need a Dentist, DO NOT hesitate to call and make your appointment.

My kids and I have been going here for about 15 years. Dr. Diercks and Dr. K are Professional, knowledgeable, the office has the latest equipment for pain free dentistry. They are gentle and make sure you are okay through any procedure. Never had a problem. They have the kind and caring hygienists. Office staff is super friendly. I highly recommend this office.

I can't say enough about Dr. Karamardian. She's my hero. My husband went to her first and said she was amazing. Here's where the story gets wild. I went to my sinus doctor because I was in a lot of pain and it felt like it was my sinuses. That doctor told me it was TMJ and put me on 3 prescriptions. He said he could do a catscan if I really wanted it but he felt sure it was TMJ. I said I want a catscan and they said they'd set it up. In the meanwhile I set an appointment with Dr Karamardian to see if TMJ was the cause. I told my sinus doctor I was still in a lot of pain even with the prescriptions (prednisone etc). I also said why hadn't I been contacted for the catscan. Twice I messaged and no one got back to me. THANKFULLY I had my appointment with Dr Karamardian to see if TMJ was the cause. She was amazing. She said it's absolutley not that. She spent 2 1/2 hours with me until the problem was resolved. She did a catscan to see if there was some other cause. She said there was nothing dental causing this, but the catscan showed a part of my sinus and it looked like something was wrong. She offered to do a catscan of my whole sinuses. They have a catscan machine there! It turned out one sinus was 100% blocked and the other one was partially blocked. She put me on antibiotics and in 1 day the pain went away!! I had been in extreme pain for 5 weeks waiting for the other doctor who specializes in sinuses to figure it out and she resolved it in a couple of hours. I feel grateful beyond words that she CARED enough to spend the time and to make sure to find out what's causing this. She's smart and caring. They also have super fancy high tech equipment so the exam is so thorough. I'm a patient for life!! Everyone should go to her!!

This is one of the best dental experiences I've ever had they took out 4 of my wisdom teeth yesterday and today I'm in no pain or discomfort at all they were very kind to me and even played music during the procedure. I don't remember the doctors or nurses names because I was quite out of it but the whole staff was great from the time I walked in to when they wheeled me out back to the car. I would give the 10/10 if Google would let me. Hands down best dental care and wisdom teeth extraction experience thank you so much!!!

Especially appreciate that they are open to new technologies and protocols, as well as embracing ones that are little-known but effective and non-toxic. Also love that their dark field microscope is available to view what is going on in the mouth, especially with microbes.

This was my dental office pre-pandemic, and since then it has only proved itself over and over to be quite simply the most amazing group of dentists I've ever visited. I'm on covered California insurance, and from experience early in my life, I'm really scared of clumsy dentists. However, not only are all the dentists and their technicians at Los Gatos dental group incredibly thoughtful and kind, but they're also gentle and considerate. Further, they have an amazing savings plan for people that just want to have their regular dental work done. As far as I'm concerned, they're real lifesavers! I wouldn't dream of going to anyone else and I cannot recommend them enough. Later edit: it's been almost a week since my dental work was done, and I am still thrilled! Dr. Karamardian replaced a filling, and placed an overlay on a cracked molar for me... and not only did I feel no pain during the work, but afterwards I didn't even need to take any aspirin. Again, this office is the absolute tops!
