I am proud and thankful to be practicing back in my hometown. As an orthodontist, I have a unique opportunity and responsibility to change the lives and smiles of my patients, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I love seeing my patients' smiles transform while their confidence and self-esteem rises as well. My patients are the reason I love going to work every day, and I couldn't ask for a better job.
As a Longmont native, I am also a proud graduate of Niwot High School. Go Cougars! After graduation, I attended Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, for my undergraduate degree and the University of Colorado for my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. I completed my General Practice Residency at Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, and returned to University of Colorado where I received a masters degree in orthodontics.
I attend many courses throughout the year. I am committed to staying current with the latest literature, new technologies, and orthodontic techniques so that I can offer my patients the best clinical care. I am involved in an orthodontic study club, which allows me to meet with other orthodontists to discuss cases, treatments, and ways to make our patients' visit more enjoyable.
When I'm not in the office, I love skiing, hiking, and mountain biking - really, anything that gets me out into the great Colorado outdoors! I also enjoy playing the piano and reading. I feel it is important to give back to the community where I grew up. From coaching sports teams to donating to the local schools, I give back as much as I can.

While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends visiting the orthodontist around age seven. Early treatment allows your orthodontist to correct and guide your childs jaw, create more space for crowded teeth, avoid the need for extractions later in life, and correct thumb sucking and minor speech problems. There are a few things to watch for, such as crowded or misplaced teeth, difficulty chewing or biting, mouth breathing, thumb sucking, or popping jaws, that may mean your child needs to see an orthodontist.
Braces are no longer as scary as many teens may think. In fact, braces today come in a variety of styles, materials, and colors, making life with braces much easier, more comfortable, and even more stylish than in the past. There are several treatment options to choose from, including traditional metal, ceramic, and invisible braces. Treatment times can vary depending on how quickly your body responds and how much work is needed to give you the show-stopping smile you expect. Regardless of the type of braces you choose, it is important to avoid sticky, hard, or chewy foods, as these may damage your braces and prolong your treatment time.
Orthodontic treatment is no longer just for teens! In fact, the American Association of Orthodontists cites that one in five orthodontic patients is over the age of 21! Many adults are choosing to receive treatment because they understand the importance of maintaining their health, and they want to feel better about their appearance. Todays orthodontic treatment options offer a variety of braces and appliances, such as clear braces and clear aligners, that are comfortable, esthetic, and customized to meet your needs. Remember, a straight smile isnt just beautiful; it will help you maintain the health of your teeth for life!
