Iwas born and raised in Wisconsin and obtained my B.S. degree in chemistry and human biology from the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay, where I graduated summa cum laude and became an Academic All-American athlete as a member of the Nordic ski team (and you wonder why I moved to Colorado?). For a long time I knew I wanted to go into dentistry and so after college I continued my education by getting my D.D.S. degree from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. While in school I realize that orthodontics was my true passion and so after dental school I continued to Rutgers University in New Jersey for my postgraduate certificate in orthodontics.
Upon completion of my residency training,I practiced in Greater New York City before deciding to relocate to Colorado. With the mountains, great weather and great culture, and as an avid fan of skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and camping, Denver has definitely become my forever home!
Always wanting to stay at the top of my field, Icontinued studying to become aDiplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. I also hold memberships in the American Association of Orthodontics and Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists.I also have the good fortune to work with a larger team here in Denver that helps me continue to learn and be introduced to the latest advances in our field.
LoDo Orthodontics and Dr. Shane Hoelz are located at the Palace Lofts located at 1499 Blake Street. We are pleased to offer you our unique services in the heart of LoDo Denvers Lower Downtown Historic District. Our office is easily accessible to everyone in and around the Denver Central Business District, and we are a very short walk from the UnionStation Transportation Center and just a block off of the 16th Street Mall.
Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell youre wearing. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. We start by using our 3D Itero scanner to take a 3-dimensional model of your teeth (thats right, no more goop in the mouth!). Invisalign then takes these images andmodels them using 3-D computer imaging technology. Once they do so, Dr. Shane reviews and modifies these images to create his treatment plan. Finally, Invisalign takes Dr. Shanes treatment plan and 3-D prints the planned movements into individual aligners. Its Dr. Shanes treatment just like braces.
Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth soresduring treatment. And since the movements are planned ahead of time, you spend less time in your doctors office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move little by little, week by week until they have straightened to their final positions. Youll visit us about once every sixto twelve weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. While total treatment time can vary greatly based on each case and its needs, most cases average 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but again both will vary from case to case.

After a year and a half of braces at lodo orthodontics, I have to say Karla and Dr Holtz did outstanding work on my smile. As this being my 2nd time in braces I highly recommend this office! Interest FREE monthly payments for financing & they work with most insurance

What an incredible place! Not only did Dr. Hoelz make my teeth perfect (especially compared to how they were), but the staff is impecable! I always felt Dr. Hoelz, Araya, and Karl (Karla) were interested in how my life was going and what I had been up to. And they always remembered what we had talked about 6 weeks earlier :) Great place, great people, great teeth... highly highly recommend! *don't listen to the guy who posted one star, listen to all the people who gave them 5! He's obviously just upset about something else in his own life and unfortunately he takes it out on hard working & loving people! You guys are awesome, I can't thank you enough!

I am currently traveling for work and my permanent retainer broke. I thought I would switch over to a plastic retainer but decided to fix my current retainer. Thinking they would just charge me the office fee of $75 to be seen they charged me 45 per tooth that they fixed the glue. The appointment lasted 10 minutes and left with a bill near $200. If you need a quick fix I would not recommend this place. Staff was not very talkative and when I said I would rather just have my permanent retainer fixed the mood quickly shifted too let's get this guy out of here as quickly as possible.

I have nothing but great things to say about LoDo Orthodontics, Dr. Hoelz, and his team. The office is very clean and the staff are patient and efficient. I am almost done with my Invisalign treatment. Throughout the treatment, I have had multiple check ins with Dr. Hoelz to monitor the progress and make adjustments as needed. Dr. Hoelz is very personable and truly wants the best for his patients!

Wonderful staff, comfortable and clean office! You're not herded in and out like cattle as you are at some places. Dr. Hoelz has stepped right into my child's treatment plan for braces after we moved states in the middle of the process. I've had no issues with insurance at all. They are super friendly and treat my child with great respect. I highly recommend LoDo Orthodontics!

I had a great experience with Dr. Hoelz and his team. After the long hunt of finding the perfect office, I finally came across Lodo orthodontics. Araya was the sweetest and always so kind! Getting braces is always a little scary, but especially as an adult. I have loved my experience here so far- I feel absolutely at ease knowing that Dr. Shane is doing the best job moving my teeth to become a perfect smile for the first time in my life. I highly recommend Lodo Orthodontics! I had braces when I was young and then as an adult in my 40s was faced with needing to get them again when my teeth shifted. Keep your retainers on, kids! I was not super jazzed about this, but this office made it a delightful experience. They are very professional, yet fun and friendly. I felt so comfortable there and truly enjoyed my interactions with Dr. Hoelz and his incredible staff. Today I got my braces off, and it is so exciting to see my beautiful, straight teeth again!

I have had a really good experience with Doctor H. :) He is very attentive, answers allll of your questions and provides great detail and explanations. I got really great progress with my Invisalign treatment in just four months- I was really happy! The office is flexible with scheduling and they have early and late days as well to accommodate to people's schedules. The ladies who work at the office and friendly and welcoming. I am going to miss coming here because the service is really great. Definitely recommended!
