At Little Smiles of Delaware, your children are our number one priority. When compared to a general family dentist, a pediatric dental office is much better prepared to care for your child and his or her unique dental needs. Were also trained to help put children with dental fears or anxieties at ease and make them feel comfortable here at our office.

We want to help your children achieve and maintain a healthy and beautiful smile to last a lifetime. We believe that creating a solid foundation for good oral health is vital to helping your child carry these good habits with them into adulthood. We also emphasize patient education, both for children and their parents. This will allow you to make more well-informed decisions regarding your childs oral health.

At Little Smiles of Delaware, were proud to offer a fun and comforting environment. Our patients, toddlers to teenagers, look forward to their visits to our office! Please contact Little Smiles of Delaware here and find out what makes us different!

Dr. Ben was born in Chicago and grew up in St. Louis and San Francisco. After high school, he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT for his undergraduate studies. In 2012 he graduated with a degree in molecular biology cum laude. But the best thing that happened to him at BYU was he met his lovely wife, Erin. After graduating, they decided Ohio was the place to be and moved to Columbus so Dr. Ben could attend The Ohio State University College of Dentistry (Go Bucks!).

During dental school, Dr. Ben helped plan and organize community outreach events such as Give Kids a Smile, visits to local elementary schools to help teach students proper oral hygiene, met with state representatives to lobby for legislation that would help communities receive better oral care, and took care of the dental needs of kids throughout Central Ohio on The College of Dentistrys pediatric mobile health clinic. He also helped design and build prize-winning floats in The Ohio State Universitys homecoming parade.

After dental school, Dr. Ben received two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Nationwide Childrens Hospital. As a resident in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Ben was selected as a chief resident and became proficient in helping infants, children, adolescents, and children with special needs to develop and maintain healthy smiles. Dr. Ben loves working with kids and making sure they always have a positive experience when they come into the office! Dr. Ben is excited to deliver great dental care to the children of Delaware and all surrounding areas.

Dr. Ben is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Ohio Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, The Ohio Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Katie was born and raised in Centerville, Ohio. She attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, for her undergraduate education, graduating cum laude with a degree in chemistry. After graduation, Dr. Katie taught 6th-grade science in a rural community in eastern North Carolina with Teach For America. After two rewarding years of teaching, Dr. Katie decided to pursue her true passion for dentistry realizing that a fulfilling career as a dentist would be found in continuing to encourage kids to become the best version of themselves.

Next, Dr. Katie continued her education by attending dental school at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Here, she was involved with volunteer research and leadership opportunities that continued to fuel her passion for working with children. She helped organize community outreach events such as health and career fairs at local schools, worked with the Ohio Dental Association to improve access to dental care across the state, and volunteered with Special Smiles at the Special Olympics.

Like Dr. Ben, Dr. Katie completed her two-year specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Nationwide Childrens Hospital. She received extensive training in all aspects of pediatric dentistry to provide quality dental care to infants, children, adolescents, and children with special needs. Following residency, Dr. Katie worked for three years at a pediatric dental practice in Erie, Pennsylvania. She is excited to return to her home state of Ohio and join the wonderful team at Little Smiles of Delaware. It is a privilege to provide quality, compassionate dental care to our patients in a fun, caring environment.

Dr. Katie is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Ohio Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Ohio Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Katie loves cheering on the Buckeyes and Cleveland sports teams. She also enjoys outdoor activities like swimming and biking and spending time with family and friends.

Here at Little Smiles of Delaware, we believe firmly in patient education. We are asked many questions in our office each day and have compiled a list of the most common pediatric dental queries and their answers.

  • When should children first visit the dentist? The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry has stated that children first visit their pediatric dentist by the age of one. After this initial visit, your child should be seen for a dental cleaning and a checkup every six months. The sooner you show your child the importance of regularly visiting the dentist, the less fear and anxiety they will experience regarding dental care.
  • Are baby teeth that important? Many parents assume that, because theyll fall out eventually, baby teeth dont need as much care as permanent teeth. However, your childs baby teeth are very important to his or her oral health both now and in the future. Below are a few reasons why baby teeth are important: Baby teeth that are properly developed will help your childs speech development Baby teeth allow your child to chew and eat food properly Baby teeth save space for your childs permanent teeth to grow into Baby teeth that develop cavities will eventually start to hurt and if infected could damage your childs permanent teeth Lastly, a healthy smile is a great confidence booster for children
  • How much toothpaste should my child be using? Once your childs baby teeth begin to erupt, brush them with a soft-bristled brush and with a rice-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste. When your child turns three, you can start using a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste, as this has been shown to help prevent dental cavities. Children can begin to brush their own teeth around the age of 5-6 with supervision and some help from an adult.
  • Why is flossing so important? Many parents view flossing as a dental habit that can be performed occasionally, but ideally, you and your children should be flossing every day. This is because dental floss is the only way to clean plaque and bacteria from between the teeth where the toothbrush cannot reach. Its common for dental cavities to occur between the teeth because children neglect to floss. Please make sure this is a habit you incorporate every day.
  • How can I help my child feel more comfortable about visiting the dentist? Here at Little Smiles of Delaware, were specially trained to help nervous or anxious children feel comfortable in the dentists chair. Let us know beforehand if your child struggles with dental anxiety so we can make sure to put him or her at ease. There are also childrens books about visiting the dentist that can help make your child feel more comfortable.
  • If you have any additional questions that have not been answered, please dont hesitate to contact Little Smiles of Delaware located here in Delaware, Ohio. Your childs dental health is our number one priority!
