Little Fish Dental – Rocklin - Pediatric dentist in Rocklin, CA

Dr. Trout graduated from Loma Linda University with her DDS in 1998 and she immediately entered into dentistry in Northern California. After practicing in other offices for a few years, she worked in a school system with a dental task force, solidifying that she wanted to work with children. This led to the opening of Little Fish Dental in 2001. Dr. Trouts practice focuses on childrens dental care.

Dr. Trout has been serving the children of Rocklin, Roseville, and the surrounding communities since 2001 with Little Fish Dental. Her focus on health of the whole child lead her to create Whole Kid Health, a program designed to assist parents with achieving optimal child wellness by evaluating that which that passes through the human mouth: nutrition, water, and air.

A lover of learning, Dr. Trout takes multiple continuing education classes each year and brings this in-depth knowledge to her young patients and their families. Her particular areas of focus include proper airway development, health and nutrition, and sleep dentistry for children, all of which affect underlying systems. Parents often dont understand that common childhood challenges like allergies, learning disorders, and even ADHD may be related to sleep issues, airway issues, and improper facial development. Dr. Trout is your expert on putting this puzzle together to help your child.

The ultimate goal of Dr. Trouts multi-prong approach is the prevention of disease and illness before they start. She strongly believes the right elements of evaluation, education, and patient/parent involvement can lead a patient to optimize oral & body health.

Dr. Trout graduated from Loma Linda University with her DDS in 1998 and immediately returned to Northern California to practice dentistry. She fulfilled her goal of starting her own practice in 2001 with the opening of Little Fish Dental. Dr. Trout sincerely enjoys working with kids, and helping parents navigate the challenge of raising strong and healthy children, with proper facial formation and a broad, beautiful smile.

During her free time, Dr. Trout enjoys the outdoors and can often be found hiking or working outside on any given weekend. Her other hobbies include traveling, photography, and reading. If you love the ocean, ask her about scuba diving in warm water coral reefs, paddle boarding with the turtles, or watching the sunrise on Mauis Mount Haleakala.

Marissa joined the Little Fish Dental team in 2013 as a front office assistant. Over the years she has taken on many different roles in the office such as marketing and assisting. In 2017, she reached her goal of becoming an RDA. She enjoys working with this connected team that loves to learn and strives to give their patients the best experience possible.

Marissa truly enjoys working through the challenges of dentistry; she finds it rewarding and fun. She is very grateful to work for a doctor that believes in furthering her staffs education and providing her patients with overall health dentistry. She loves being a part of the offices incredible growth over the years and knows the team will always strive to give their patients exactly the help they need and want.

We have been coming to Little Fish for 4 years for orthodontist work. All 4 of our children see Dr. Trout. They are always welcoming and do their best to accommodate our hectic schedule. We have been very pleased with the staff, dental work, and all our appointments through the years.

Edit to add: Little Fish wanted payment for over a month despite my trying to reason with them. They lost a couple clients but ultimately let the bill go and didn't pursue payment. I NEVER write reviews but I must write one for what happened with this dental office. My child was seen at the end of 2020 and told everything was set. I was never given any estimated costs and all of the sudden I receive a bill in the mail ALMOST TWO YEARS LATER. Little fish dental is saying the visit was not covered by insurance and because of their late billing, my insurance won't back pay it so I'm stuck with the out of pocket costs for the entire visit. If they had billed on time, it would have been covered by insurance. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST.

The staff is extremely friendly and very kind. My kids love going to the dentist now and can't wait for their next visit. 10/10 would highly recommend bringing your kids to little fish dental

HORRIBLE dental office. They would rather get paid from a visit almost two years ago (which they didn't disclose estimated costs at visit and didn't bill for 2 years) than keep patients long term. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. Please look into Explorer Kids Dental!!

Little Fish Dental has given our family peace of mind. We had the hard decision to put our son under to fill multiple cavities at once. The staff was very kind and supportive through the process. It was also important to know Dr Trout uses less toxic compounds and tools to fill cavities. She also sent us home with some good information to help build better oral/overall health. 6 months later our son is still cavity free!

My wife came here after being referred by her friend. Upon arrival, the staff members were polite and the office was clean. The procedure was carried out by Dr. Trout quickly and professionally. It was over in about five minutes with minimal pain to our daughter. The problems came with the billing portion of the procedure. The office verbally informed my wife that they would take our insurance, it would pay 100% of the exam, 90% of the procedures, and that the balance owed would be $264. My wife paid before leaving the office the day of the procedure. Days later we received a bill in the mail for an additional $560.80. It turns out our insurance decided the five-minute procedure should cost $703 instead of $1469. At no point did the office say the insurance would cover 100% or 90% of a smaller bill. When we gave the office our insurance information and they said they called, my understanding was that they verified the insurance would cover 100% and 90% of the charges on the quote. I have dealt with many dentists over the years. I have never once received a bill from the office AFTER I had already paid my portion. My primary dentist understands this. I have received insurance bills in the past saying that "the patient responsibility is X" which ended up being more than I had paid. I have not once received a follow-up bill from the dentist. They know from dealing with insurance every day that the insurance would cover less than what is billed. The dentist simply accounts for this beforehand and does not bill me a second time. Upon calling Little Fish Dental to follow up on the second bill, I was told I should blame my insurance and at the bottom of the quote, it says estimate only. They told me this happens all the time and it's very common for insurance to cover less than the amount billed. Pragmatically speaking, this makes sense. However, I have a background in customer service and there are two ways they could have avoided/fixed this: 1. From a profit perspective, Little Fish Dental realizes that there was a lack of understanding between the parties, realizes our daughter is two months old and has 18 years of procedures (and profit), and writes the bill off or at least discounts it as a one-time goodwill gesture to retain a customer for years to come. 2. Little Fish Dental (understandably so) wants every penny they can get and refuses to write off a single dollar of the outstanding bill. Fine. Once again, KNOWING that it is "VERY COMMON" (as they told me on the phone after the bill) for insurance to cover less for this procedure, they could have submitted a pre-treatment estimate form. They would simply submit this to my insurance and get accurate coverage numbers back before the procedure. That way, when they told my wife that the bill would be $264, we could actually take their word for it. This is what we had assumed they did when we agreed to the procedure in the first place. Instead, the actual cost is $824 for an elective procedure that we would have skipped or gotten somewhere else. If you take anything from this review, please know to be extremely skeptical about high-value procedure "estimates" from Little Fish Dental.

This is hands down the best kids' dental office I have ever been to with my children. I have 5 kids ranging from 2 to 14. This is the friendliest staff and they are great with my kids, from the littlest to the oldest! Dr. Trout's knowledge of holistic care is truly astonishing. I love that she makes suggestions but leaves it up to my husband's and my discretion based on the information given. Their attention to detail in decor using the beach theme and allowing the kids to pick their movie makes the kids so happy! Love that we have found this place.

Can't say enough positive things about this dental office. Our newborn struggled immensely with breastfeeding due to a severe tongue and lip tie--we had to triple feed for weeks with breastfeeding, pumping and then supplementing just to provide enough milk: it was exhausting. Our lactation consultant recommended Dr Trout and her team at Little Fish to assist in a frenectomy. From the first phone call my husband and I felt our son would be in good hands. The team members were so friendly and empathetic, during our initial consultation Dr Trout gave us details of the procedure and step-by-step instructions on after care so we'd be prepared. At 8-weeks old and completing our post-op exercises, our son is now feeding successfully without assistance from a bottle and gaining weight efficiently. We are so happy with the professionalism and friendliness we experienced at this office by everyone, and for Dr Trout's care and guidance!

We were referred here by a dentist in town to get pediatric care. I had a good repoire with the front desk and even though we had to wait 5 weeks for his appt we were happy when our appt arrived. When we showed up at the door, we were handed a form to sign that indicated we would be charged $149 for the appt. I was shocked and confused considering I thought it was strange to charge for the appt when we were there for our son to get a cavity fixed. The doctor came in and looked at his X-rays that we had taken at our own dentist. She confirmed we needed the cavity fixed and we made an appt another few weeks away. I was bewildered. How did we just go to an appt to get his cavity fixed and not know this was a consultation where we were charged $149 and it doesn't include treatment?!! We paid $300 out of pocket total to get his cavity fixed somewhere else so how is a consultation that expensive. They won't refund it even though I was never told that the appt wasn't to fix it. Other people might not feel this way since insurance could have covered a portion of it and not felt the pain of paying that much for an appt. As a business model it would have made sense to offer some sort of way to appease a customer that felt truly bamboozled. Maybe offer to put half credit towards treatment. To stand their ground on giving no refund makes me feel the money is what comes first for their business.

Little Fish Dental is the best of the best, for our girls! Most recently I took my 18 month old (for her first appt.) and my 4 year-old (for a check-up).... Yes, I had my hands FULL! The amount of patience that Dr. Trout and her team provide is nothing short of incredible. What could have easily become a very stressful situation for this mama, became a team effort, where I felt nothing but supported. They took their time, so to ensure each of my girls felt comfortable with the process (while mommy continued sweating, lol).... I never felt rushed, never felt like we were an inconvenience/frustration.... I truly felt supported by the staff, and that my girls were equally supported for comfort. This office is not close to our home, but the commute is worth it, for the consistent care, kindness and support we receive. I really want to make the dental experience positive for my girls, and with Little Fish Dental, we are making that possible. I am SO grateful for this team, and all they do because they truly CARE about the kiddos they treat.... That makes them #1 in my book... Thank you!!!

Dr. Trout and her staff are incredible. They are gentle, kind, and understanding with kids of any age. They go above and beyond to make the experience as happy & trauma free as possible. My daughter received laser for her tongue tie as an infant, and now we go back for regular pediatric dentistry. We come & go with smiles. We would recommend this dental practice to any child!

We love Dr. Trout and her Staff. They have been caring for my 4 childrens and their teeth since we moved to Rocklin 10 years ago and when my 2 older kids became adults and had to graduate, they absolutely did not want to leave Little Fish. If my kids could have stayed at Little Fish for the rest of their lives, they would never leave!! Dr. Trout is so incredibly knowledgeable and has the kindest, most gentle touch that you would want in a pediatric dentist to have especially when its your child's first experience going to the dentist office Dr. Trout is up to date with the latest techniques and is always trying to improve her practice to better care for her little people. She cares for the whole child and not just their teeth. Her clinical expertise is one that I trust whole heartedly. I highly recommend Little Fish to every family with young children.

Was not a fan personally. She doesn't have colleagues so she is booked out for months. My sons filling was postponed so long he then needed the tooth pulled! She then would only pull the tooth if I paid $2,000 for anesthesia (also scheduled a month out) Went to a different pediatric dentist and had it done smoothly without anesthesia. This dr is a her-way or no-way type person, which doesn't work for me. Two stars was for the office, its super cute.

We were referred by a friend to Little Fish after having a bad experience at another dentist. We are so thankful to have found Dr. Trout. She is the ultimate professional. No bells or whistles, beautiful office with a few video games and friendly efficient staff. Dr. Trout is calm and thorough. I have a active 6 year old boy. He had several cavities previous dentist missed and needed crowns. They made a traumatic procedure as easy as possible for our family. The anesthesiologist they use was also the ultimate professional. I trust them 100% with my sons dental health and will always take my son here, even having to drive 25 minutes since moving to Auburn. Thanks Little Fish!!!
