Dr. Miguel A. Ortiz began working in the dental industry as a dental technician in 2002 after graduating from one of the only two-year ADA accredited programs in California. During the next eight years he both worked and studied full-time in Los Angeles, receiving a B.S. in Biochemistry with Honors from California State University. He was recruited to Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he won the Leo Talkoy Award for excellence in clinical dentistry and his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry, (DMD).
While over 95% of dentists decide to end their training there, Dr. Ortiz went on to become a prosthodontist at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed a full-time three-year dental specialization where he was educated extensively on everything that has to do with prosthetics involving the mouth. As a prosthodontist, Dr. Ortiz has been specially trained and has mastered the art of cosmetic and esthetic dentistry, smile design, digital dentistry, veneers, all bridge work, crowns, implants, and full mouth rehabilitations. He is also a successful leader in the community for any other team of dentists who may be seeking to provide the best possible treatment to their patients.
After a number of years working with a mentor at a clinic in Brookline, MA, Dr. Miguel A. Ortiz decided that he wanted to create a special dental environment in Wayland, MA at the clinic formerly owned by his good friend Dr. Courtney Lavigne. Colleen Ortiz is the business partner and wife of Dr. Ortiz. Colleen is the Office Manager for Lit Dental Esthetics & Implant Center. She is also the Financial and Organizational Manager for DentLit, a continuing education organization that she runs together with Dr. Ortiz. Colleen has a Bachelors degree in Music Composition from Calstate LA, a MA in Ethnomusicology from Boston University, and a MA in Education from Northeastern University. Colleen's favorite part of the office is the atmosphere. She loves working on all the ways to provide patients with a positive and personalized experience. When she is not at work she enjoys playing piano, reading books, and going on adventures with her 3 young boys.
Alishas favorite part of working in our office is being able to constantly learn and give patients the best care and experience possible. She enjoys helping people and making them feel happy and confident.
Carly is one of our registered dental hygienists. Both of our hygienists have their bachelors degree in hygiene, a rarity in the field. Carly graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, finishing top of her class. She was inducted into the Sigma Phi Alpha honor society and the Alpha Eta society.
Carlys favorite part of working in our office is the patient interactions. She loves helping patients stay healthy and feel confident in their smiles, as well as forming strong bonds with her patients!
Paige is one of our registered dental hygienists. Paige also has her Bachelors degree enabling her to teach and further her education in the field. Paige graduated from the University of New Haven in 2015 and has been practicing in CT and MA ever since.
Annelise is a dental assistant and has been in the dental field for over 9 years. She is organized, self-motivated, and calm. She loves taking care of patients and everyone around her. Annelise presents treatment plans, trains staff to be their best, and oversees the office operations on a daily basis. Her top priority is to make sure all patients leave our office satisfied and healthy. Her academic achievements help her to improve the practice daily. In her spare time, Annelise loves to travel, fitness, participate in outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.

I've been going to the practice for 4 years and have always had terrific service and genuine care. Recently, I broke a crown on a weekend so I had to be careful until Monday morning. I called first thing, expecting no availability because they are a busy practice, but miraculously they fit me in and the problem was solved later that afternoon. With great care and professionalism, I was recrowned before I knew it. Bravo Lit!

The Covid pandemic gave a significant hit to my family's dental care. Our wonderful family dentist retired and we had to search for a new practice. We wanted one that took the extra precautions that would provide Covid safety and allow us to feel comfortable getting dental care during this time. I asked around for quite a while, and was getting a bit discouraged until several people recommended Dr Ortiz at LIT dental. I am so glad to have found this practice! From my first phone call to the office I was impressed. The kind person who answers the phone has patiently taken the time to answer all my questions and helped me book appointments for my family of four. At my new patient visit, I found the office to be clean, modern, and comfortably designed. The cleaning and exam was thorough and with every step I felt like the utmost care was taken to ensure my comfort. My husband and kids all felt the same way too! I recently went to see Dr Ortiz to care for an old amalgam filling that had reached the end of its usefulness. It had caused my molar to crack and Dr Ortiz needed to remove the amalgam and replace it with a porcelain crown. I've never had a crown before and I was very apprehensive. I've heard descriptions of the procedure that made it sound like an ordeal. But under the care of Dr Ortiz it couldn't have been easier! His wonderful assistant, Sara, made a digital 3D model of my teeth and Dr Ortiz used it to create a perfect crown. He used it to painlessly restore my tooth, and made sure it was perfect by creating a new 3D model for comparison. Through the entire procedure, Dr Ortiz and Sara made sure I was comfortable, pain-free, and fully aware of what was going to happen. I truly couldn't be happier with my experience with LIT dental and unreservedly recommend them to anybody looking for a dental practice.

I've been a client at Lit Dental for over 2 years now. I've had some extensive work done, since I was negligent in my own personal oral care, because of my "avoidance" in making regularly scheduled visits. My apprehension on my first visit was palpable, I believe I used the expression that I was "a bag of cats". The personal at this office is professional and courteous, and always sets me at ease when I visit. I've come to trust everyone here, and I can honestly say that I don't have the level of anxiety I used to have when I have a scheduled visit. Thank You to Dr Ortiz and the entire staff. I couldn't be happier with my veneers done by Dr. Ortiz. I had done a lot of research on veneers and looked into a few other dentists just to be thorough in my search and decision, but knew Dr. Ortiz was the perfect choice for me after my first consultation visit. He made me feel extremely comfortable when answering all my questions and assured me that even the questions that I thought were silly or trivial were important. He took the time to not only answer all of my questions, but to give thorough explanations for each. During the procedure itself, Dr. Ortiz and Annelise checked on me consistently throughout to see how I was doing and to make sure I wasn't in any pain. Annelise was so comforting throughout the entire procedure and made the entire experience so pleasant - I'm so thankful for her!
