San Jose Endodontist Dr. Malek has been practicing endodontics in San Jose since 1997 and has developed a state of the art endodontic facility including digital radiography, surgical microscope, Ni Ti rotary files and a caring and skilled staff. He utilizes MTA for surgical and non-surgical cases. He is the root canal specialist and by using very updated materials and techniques , he stays above standard of care.
All dentists, including your general dentist, received training in endodontic treatment in dental school. General dentists can perform endodontic procedures along with other dental procedures, but often they refer patients needing endodontic treatments to endodontist.
Endodontist are dentists with special training in performing root canals. They provide only endodontic services in their practices because they are specialist. To become specialist they complete dental school and an additional two more years of advanced training in endodontics. They perform routine as well as difficult and very complex endodontic procedures, including endodontic surgery. Lisa D. Tran is originally from Pennsylvania and studied at Villanova University before completing her dental school training at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. While in dental school, she was in the Clinical Dentistry Honors program, received the Vernon Brighten Research scholarship, was an active member of the Oral Cancer Society and volunteered her time in the community. She then relocated to New York for a General Practice Residency at NYU Lutheran Medical Center and obtained her Endodontic Certificate at the same hospital in 2016. She recently made the coast-to-coast move with her husband and is now residing in San Jose.
Currently, Dr. Tran is on her way to becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. She is a member of the Association of American Endodontics, American Dental Association, Santa Clara County Dental Society and the Northern California Association of Vietnamese-American Dentists. In her free time, she loves to travel, spend time outdoors and likes to stay active. She also enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.

Dr.Tran and her assistant Mayra worked as a team to bring give me the best possible compassionate care for my root canal which spanned 2 days. She is gentle and listens to your concerns. She is very personable . I felt completely safe with her and highly recommend. I was so lucky to have found her.

I can't tell you how lucky I was to have Lisa do my emergency root canal. She was sweet, calming, caring and exceptionally gentle. She put me at ease and made sure I was comfortable. I feel great! I had a great experience meeting Dr Tran and being under her care. Prior to my root canal treatment the pain was unbearable and Dr Tran said come into the office in 45 minutes. Not only was it Sunday but Father's Day! She immediately took care of the issue no questions asked. The procedure was flawless. I highly recommend her as a professional and great person! A+

As a career ICU nurse, I can say that I find Dr. Tran and her staff to be excellent. She is both caring and competent. I have had two root canals from her, and was happy with both experiences. You will walk away from the visit knowing that your teeth have been well taken care of. I especially like the way she explains what she is doing as she is doing it.

I'm so glad my friend told me about Dr. Tran when I mentioned that I need to get root canal done. Dr. Tran explained the entire procedure clearly and was patient with my questions. She was also able to reschedule my procedure due to some last minute issues on my end. The entire procedure lasted an hour and Dr. Tran was making sure I was doing fine throughout the time. Dr. Tran also gave me clear after care instructions. Her office followed up with me over the next few days after the procedure and she herself checked in with me the next day! Thank you so much Dr. Tran!! Highly recommend!!

I was referred to Dr. Malek's office by my dentist to take care of a root canal and was lucky enough to get an appointment with Dr. Lisa Tran. She was so kind and explained everything she was doing when she did it. She made she I was comfortable throughout and even the day after she texted me personally to see how I was feeling and if I had any concerns. I wish I could see Dr. Tran for all my dental things (even though I love my current dentist as well). I also loved her assistants who helped. They were so nice and friendly!

Dr.Lisa was amazing. I went in for a root canal very nervous not knowing what to expect. Dr Lisa explained the procedure and made sure I felt comfortable through out the entire process. I honestly didn't feel any discomfort what so ever during and after the procedure. Definitely recommend Dr Lisa Tran.

My first time getting a root canal. I didn't know what to expect and of course I was super nervous. Dr. Tran and her assistant did a great job! Was referred here from my dentist to retreat a root canal from several years ago. Dr.Tran explained the situation and what was needed to be done to treat my tooth. She was very attentive to any needs to make the procedure as smooth and as comfortable as possible. She followed up with me the next day to see how the treatment had been coming along. Highly recommend!

I just want to say that I had the best experience with Dr. Tran and her team. Not only was the staff very hospitable when I arrived they also managed to squeeze me in for a same day much needed, pain relieving procedure after it was only supposed to be a quick consult visit. Thank you guys for making my visit a pleasant comforting experience of a not so good situation. Lastly I'm not saying I would like to have a similar procedure done again but if I had to go through this again I would definitely go back to Dr. Tran and her awesome staff.

Very great service and staff. Everyone here is so friendly. I got a root canal by Dr Tran and I have a severe Panic disorder and dentophobia. Everyone was really compassionate and patient in seeing me through the procedure.

Dr.Tran is amazing! My general dentist referred me to Dr. Tran for the need of a possible root canal. Dr.Tran conducted NUMEROUS tests to make sure a root canal was absolutely necessary. She made me feel so comfortable the entire time. Once it was determined I needed a root canal she explained in depth why I needed one. When it came time for the root canal she made sure I was completely numb. I did not feel ANYTHING during the root canal procedure and it was done so fast! She made sure I was comfortable the entire time. After the procedure she checked in on me to make sure I was ok. I had a great experience with Dr.Tran and I 100% recommend going to her if you need this procedure done!
