Limestone Dentistry was founded when Dr. Bruce Mater DDS retired from dentistry after practicing 40 years, who did a lot of work to establish trust with patients in the area. Some of our team members worked with Dr. Mater prior to his retirement so previous patients can still count on seeing some familiar faces when they visit. We aim to carry on Dr. Maters good work by continuing to provide great dental care to our neighbors in and around Jeffersonville.
For Dr. Thornton, one of the best parts of his work is the amazing range of patients he has the pleasure of treating. Ever since he was a child, Dr. Thorntons love of science has been strong. After working in a lab for a year, he realized that he wanted a career that was much more hands-on. As a big people person, dentistry was just the right fit and over five years later, hes still fully confident that it was one of the best decisions hes ever made!
After attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Thornton pursued his dental doctorate at the University of Louisville. Following dental school, he was an associate at two dental offices, gaining valuable experience before he took over at his current location. Today, he has advanced training in dental implants and Invisalign.
Born and raised in Racine, WI, Dr. Thornton has a small family consisting of his parents and one older brother. He met his wife, Abbey, while attending dental school and they welcomed their first son in October 2021. In his free time, some of his favorite hobbies include woodworking, golfing, cooking, living an active lifestyle, and enjoying the outdoors.
Abbey started working in the dental field when she was only 14 years old, and shes been a dental hygienist for five years. She is proud to be a graduate of the University of Louisville with a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene and a minor in psychology.
Outside of the dental office, Abbey and her husband Dr. Thornton are excitedly expecting a son in October of 2021. They additionally have an Australian Shepard named Tula who they regularly take on hikes. As for hobbies, shes a big bookworm. Shes even part of a book club! She also loves traveling and hopes to venture out to the West Coast more in the future.
Anne Maries career in the dental field spans 20+ years so far! A graduate of the Canadian Institute of Dental Hygiene, one of her favorite things about this job is having such a positive, friendly atmosphere to work in so that she can focus on providing the best care possible to patients in need.
Anne Marie and her husband John have countless nieces, nephews, and grand nieces/nephews who keep them busy. Outside of the dental office, she also enjoys traveling, curling up with a good book, or painting/decorating her home.
Olivia has been a part of the dental field for almost 20 years now, and there's nothing she enjoys more than creating ongoing relationships with her patients. She never lectures but instead aims to educate with an understanding and compassion that's specifically designed to fit each unique person's needs! She studied at the University of Louisville and was recently awarded the Readers Choice Award for Best Dental Hygienist by the News and Tribune!
Outside of the dental office, Olivia is proud to have a wonderful partner named Carrie and a small crew of mini-humans. Besides raising children, some of her favorite hobbies include going to flea markets, dancing, reading, eating snacks like Twizzlers and popcorn, and doing projects around the house. She always loves being able to use her creativity to make something more beautiful.
Jeri has been a member of our dental home for over 15 years now. She studied at the Indiana School of Dentistry. Today, what she enjoys most about her role is being able to help patients feel comfortable and happy!
Dawns family consists of her husband Ben, her grown son Jacob, and her dog Layla. In her spare time away from work, she enjoys traveling and being crafty. In particular, shes quite talented at making beautiful flower arrangements and wreaths.
