Dr. Hal Atkinson is a 1973 graduate of Carroll High School, where he lettered in football and was president of the senior class. He graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1981. In 1982 he left the Fort Wayne Denture Center and started in practice at the Diplomat Plaza office in Fort Wayne. In 1992 he opened the Lima Road Dental office. His wife, Dr. Mary Ann Meo, has a general surgery practice here in town. Dr. Atkinson has three children: Ben, Maria, and Haley. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, the Indiana Dental Association, the Fort Wayne Running Club, the Fort Wayne Ski Club, the Isaac Walton League, andACRES. He enjoys snow skiing, traveling, canoeing, running, golf, sailing, and hiking in the woods (which happens frequently during golf).

Dr. Angie King is a graduate of Harding High School. She graduated from IPFW in 1990. Angie graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1994 and was a member of Psi Omega. Angie married Ryan in October of 1995. They were high school sweethearts. Angie and Ryan are the proud parents of 2 entertaining cats named Peanut and Rufus. Angie is an avid IU basketball fan. She also enjoys mushroom hunting, boating and playing cards.

Dr. Veerkamp is a Fort Wayne native and graduated from Homestead High School in 2012. He attended Indiana University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2016. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Midwestern University, where he was a member of the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry and the Cosmetic Dentistry Club. In his free time, he enjoys running with his dog, exercising, hiking and spending time at the lake.

We do orthodontics in our office on children and adults using both removable and fixed appliances. Dr. Atkinson does orthodontics in the interceptive, comprehensive, and limited modes. We also offer the new Invisalign technique.

Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of custom-made, nearly undetectable aligners. Using the latest advances in 3-D computer technology, Invisalign carefully translates Dr. Atkinsons, instructions into this series of aligners. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks. Interceptive orthodontics is an extremely cost-effective concept for growing children. The idea is to shape the individuals growth so that poorly aligned teeth are straightened early so that other permanent teeth will be more likely to come in at their proper locations. A guiding retainer is worn at night to encourage the unerupted teeth to come in straight. Crossbites, large overbites and large jaw discrepancies are also more easily corrected in growing children in the age 7-11 range.

Comprehensive orthodontics involves aligning the permanent teeth in a child, adolescent or an adult. Removable and/or fixed appliances (braces) are used to put the teeth in their ideal functional and cosmetic positions. Sometimes multiple problems can be solved at the same time with comprehensive orthodontics. This type of orthodontics is done on people from 11 to 100 years old!
