Dr. David Toppi earned his dental degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale. Dr. Toppi also trained at Miami Children's Hospital and received his specialty degree in pediatric dentistry at Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Russell Toppi completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst before attending Tufts University School of Dentistry, where he received his D.M.D. in 1992. Four years later, Dr. Russ completed his orthodontic residency at Columbia University.
In practice for 14 years, Dr. Toppi stays abreast of the latest advances in orthodontics with memberships in the San Diego County Dental Society, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and the San Diego Academy of Orthodonitists.
Dr Toppi is one of few San Diego orthodontists certified and trainedto place 'Inside Braces.' These braces are placed on the inside surface of the teeth and arevirtually unnoticable!. They are the latest technological advancement in orthodontics and areindividually customized for your son or daughter.

Both my children go here and we absolutely love it. Dr. Toppi has a very welcoming and calm presence. Which is great if your kids don't do well at the dentist. The office is extremely clean, friendly and professional.

Had a GREAT visit w/Lil Smiles & Dr. Toppi. Staff was excellent, as was the entire building. Our 1st visit but not our last. TY for being accommodating & getting my Little One in so quickly.

I am so grateful to have found a place where you can see that Dr. Toppi and staff put their 100% in making you feel welcomed. They showed they cared at all times and where helpful and professional. My 4 year old never once cried nor was afraid. 101% recommend over Super Dentist!

This place Is awesome! The front desk staff are on point with helping instead making things more difficult for a momma. The doc was amazing, my toddler was very comfortable with him. I'm so happy I could cry lol! It's so hard to find a good place. A breath of fresh air!

Lil smiles is the best. I've been taking my kids there for many years. The office has been recently renovated and super clean. Very pleased with their superb customer service and professionalism.

Absolutely amazing, my son was happy, excited and treated with love and kindness since we walked in! Everyone was absolutely amazing and the place is adorable!!!!! This place will definitely make my 1yo love going to the dentist, plus, when he finished his check up they gave him a little "prize" toy!!!!! Absolutely love this place!!!

We love Dr. Toppi! He always makes my toddler comfortable and answers all my questions. Of course the token and prize at the end is always a hit. When your almost 3 year old says, "I love a dentist!" after a visit, you know you're going to the right place.

The place is so cheerful and Dr. Toppi is incredibly professional and good with kids. Plus, I never feel like he tries to recommend unnecessary treatment. We've been there for years and the kids look forward to dental visits.

LOVE, LOVE , LOVE Lil' Smiles! It was our first time at this office after many of my military mama have referred me to their practice. The dentist has always been stressful for me , as my children are simply afraid ( they are 4 and 2) and from our bad experience with another practice, I was desperate to find a practice where they are patient and understanding with my children. And I am SOOO HAPPY that I took my children here! From the moment you walk in, the office is clean and well organize. The front desk receptionist was super sweet and kind, to the dental assistant Evelyn who was ABSOULETLY great and sweet to my kids and made they feel so comfortable, and was able to take x-rays and cleaning like a breeze which was a HUGE step for my children. I was so proud of them. To Dr. Toppi who was AMAZING and really shows how much he loves his job. He was kind, professional, and patient and really took his time with my kids and made them feel comfortable and not afraid. Very informative and my husband and I was highly impressed with how our appt went! 10/10 would recommend Lil Smiles!

Great dental office. It's a drive for us to take my daughter here. But I will drive however long I have to, to ensure she has a great experience with the dentist. She loves it and cried last time when we were leaving. She wanted to stay!! Lol. The dentist is very patient with her, with calms my nerves of having to deal with a 4 year old at the dentist.

The entire staff at the office is very welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend this dental office because Dr. Toppi is great! My kids looked forward to their appointments. I also appreciate all the measures being taken at the office to keep everyone safe during this pandemic.

I am always blown away by the service, environment and individual care that Dr. Toppi's clinic provides. I always mention it when I am there. It's so great to be a separate room with my children when they are getting their exams and treatments. It's fun just to be able to see my two kids get their periodic exams done together. So fun. And they are always improving the look, feel and decor in their office as well. Switch to Dr. Toppi! You won't regret it.

Love this dentist office! The decorative aspect is awesome and my kids don't mind going in. TVs everywhere even on the ceiling with cartoons playing. Not to mentions the appointments have always been on time and quick. Also, my oldest was having his teeth come in all messed up and we were referred to his brother's orthodontist office. They are also very good. So an overall great experience and I've been multiple times for all my children. (4 sons)

I would recommend Lil' Smiles to anyone with children! Appointments are ALWAYS on time, and they have even called us back ahead of schedule for appointments. My daughter is 2.5 yrs old and less than fond of Doctors and Dentists at the moment, and the entire staff is amazing with her. They make sure she is as comfortable as possible during her visit, which significantly reduces her stress (and their's, I'm sure). Office decor is so cute and really catches the kids' eyes! There are friendly "distractions" everywhere, to include tv's in the waiting area and on the ceilings in the rooms with cartoons always playing. We became new patients to the office during COVID, and the mitigations set made me feel confident and safe with the care provided for my little one. When you arrive you send a text and receive a PROMPT response with a questionnaire for any possible symptoms. Once they are ready, you receive a call and are checked in at the front desk where they do a temperature check.
