Doctor Mendee Ligon grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She attended college in Atlanta, Georgia at Spelman College and completed her B.S. degree at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina. She received her dental training at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, Tennessee receiving a Doctor of Dental surgery degree in 1979. She continued post-graduate training and received a certificate in hospital dentistry from a general practice residency completed in 1980. Her leisure interests are reading, traveling, boating, and music.
Dr. Ligon received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in 2011. He continued his training at Bay Pines VA Hospital and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency. The residency program enhanced his skills in treating medically compromised patients and in Restorative, Surgical, and Implant dentistry. He expresses great interest in these areas.
Dr. Brian Ligon has demonstrated an exceptional interest in the advancement of Implant Dentistry. He has been recognized with the title of Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has completed many implant cases and is fully capable of handling all of your oral implant needs from start to finish, from extraction, grafting,implant placement, andthe final restoration. We have state of the art technology in the office, including Cone Beam 3D Imaging, digital x-rays, and digital impressions that provide the doctor the ability to specialize a treatment plan just for you.
A St. Petersburg native, Dr. Ligon is a 2003 graduate of Lakewood High School where he was a member of their firststate championship basketball team. He is a 2007 graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he excelled in academics and athletics. He was a starting player and co-captainof the basketball team that advanced in the NCAA March Madness competition in 2007. Dr. Ligon is committed to excellence in providing high-quality patient-focused dental care to the Tampa Bay community.

Every time I went to the office, they were 30 minutes to an hour late starting my appointment. I had some cavities and they quoted me in the thousands for filling them. I got a 2nd opinion elsewhere, and it was not even $200!! Crazy .

Very deceptive when booking an appointment. Can book for a specific service, they confirm they can do it, then they don't execute & you still pay. Once in & appt has begun you're crowded by multiple people giving you different prices for the same things. When explained that I'm being given different prices by everyone, everyone repeats their price. Upsale, upsale, upsale with pressure, is their motto. Very car dealer-esque!! Left without the service I booked for... And of course paid. SN:Customer service has gone extremely down, since Covid, nationally as everyone tries to get the money they missed during shutdowns -its truly hurting the businesses more than the people.

If anyone is in need of any type of dental work, Ligon Dental is definitely the place to be! The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable in what they do and are always willing to go the extra mile for each and every one of their patients, as well as any new patients. Not only is service expert and fast, their prices are also fair. This office brings welcoming and friendly energy, so you will never just feel like any patient, you will most certainly be treated as family.

One of the most comfortable dental visits I've had! Everyone in the office so nice. My teeth look so much better after a detailed, pain-free cleaning by the hygienist. The exam with the Dr. was thorough, complete with advice and options for optimal dental health and a smile I can be proud of again. If you're timid about dental work - you don't have to be! I have been with this practice even before they moved to their present location. Have watched the family grow up and add their son to the practice. I have always been treated like family. I have had routine procedures as well as crowns. I have been happy with all the work they have done for me. Latoya is the best for cleaning teeth. Office staff is friendly and efficient. Lupe the office manager will help you with all your financial questions. Dr. Brian and Dr Mendee are both caring dentists. I came here originally on an emergency basis and never left. Proceed with caution. I decided to write this review in hopes I can save someone else the pain I'm dealing with. I went to Ligdon Dental because one of the fillings in my molar was coming out and I wanted to get the tooth pulled since it's so far in the back you can't see it. The doctor talked me into getting a crown instead and I agreed. They ended up putting a crown on the wrong tooth. They initially tried to blame me by telling me they told me the tooth that they capped needed a cap as well, which was irrelevant because I explicitly told the medical assistant I was only concerned with the teeth that were causing pain and discomfort and didn't want to pay for any additional dental work that wasn't a priority. They finally acknowledged their mistake, but didn't offer to reimburse me the $400+ I spent to essentially have the wrong tooth capped. I thought they would fix their mistake by putting a crown on the tooth that I actually wanted done at no charge since they messed up, but no. Instead they offered to put a temporary filling in the tooth for an additional $200+. To add insult to injury, prior to that slap in the face, I decided to give them another chance and allowed them to do 3 fillings, which cost an additional $200+ (mind you I have dental insurance). Big mistake! It was done so poorly that I can't even chew on the left side of my mouth because the teeth bang into each other causing pain to my bottom teeth. They drilled so much of my teeth out, which was unnecessary, that I will likely have to get them replaced now as well. Also, thanks to their dental work, the teeth on the left side of my mouth are now longer than the teeth on the right side of my mouth and it is messing up my jaw. It will likely cause me $1000's to fix the damage they did. I explicitly told them what tooth I wanted fixed and didn't want any other work done except the fillings that they eventually messed up too. Now I'm stuck with a messed up jaw, a cap I don't need, and the tooth that was causing pain which is what brought me to their office in the first place, is still not fixed. I'm in more pain now than when I walked in their door. I will NEVER go back to this dentist. After all the money I spent and the pain I now have to deal with on a daily basis, they had the nerve to send me an additional bill for $4.20! I went there because I wanted to support their business. Worst mistake I've ever made!

I used to love this dentist, but a lot has changed since my family and I started going. Their idea of "working with you" is allowing you to pay 1/2 and 1/2 over 2 weeks. That is not exactly helpful as a "payment" plan for someone who's really struggling to pay for a gigantic dental procedure.
