Dr. Payam Amirsayafi has one simple belief -- every kid should enjoy going to the dentist! His priority is to make every child feel comfortable and welcome. He wants each visit to be a fun and crazy adventure that not only will leave your child smiling but will also leave you happy and excited! Whens the last time thats happened to you at the dentist?
Dr. Payam loves apples and has in fact been eating at least one apple a day since he was a child. Although he has never missed an apple-eating day, he has eaten more than one apple on numerous occasions. If you ask his mom, you might end up with some exotic numbers. You can probably guess what inspired the name of his practice!
When he's not in the office you can find Dr. Payam running, biking and swimming to prepare for upcoming marathons or triathlons. In 2015Dr. Payam became part of the elite club of IRONMAN finishers! He completed the IRONMAN Maryland race in October of 2015.
Dr. Payam moved to Virginia in 2011 with his wife Leyla. His favorite song is Layla by Eric Clapton, in honor of her. Just in case youve never heard it before, heres a video of Eric performing Layla live. Be careful, you may start dancing around the room once you hit play!
Dr. Navdeep Sandhustarted his career in dentistry in 1999 when he graduated from Dashmesh Institute of Research and Dental Sciences in India and was awarded a BDS degree. In 2004 he came to the U.S. to advance his education and went to the University Of The Pacific, School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA. He graduated in 2006 and was awarded a DDS degree.
After practicing general dentistry in California for 5 years, Dr. Sandhu decided to advance his career and did a Hospital based residency in Dental Anesthesiology. During his residency, he rotated through departments of Pediatric Emergency, ICU and Emergency Medicine. After completing his residency Dr. Sandhu has been providing anesthesia services to patients of all ages undergoing dental treatment. Dr. Sandhu is Board Certified by The American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Jiyon Oh grew up in South Korea, Hong Kong, and India, gaining insights into different cultures. She now calls Northern Virginia her home. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Ohio State University.
Dr. Oh started her career in dentistry at Howard University College of Dentistry. Dr. Oh graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2016. After completing dental school, Dr. Oh has provided dental care to patients of all ages, especially pediatric populations in Northern Virginia. She received extensive training with children and adults and brings this experience to every patient. Dr. Oh has a genuine, friendly, and caring chairside manner and she is meticulous with her work. Dr. Oh continues expand her skills in all aspects of dentistry and consistently exceeds the annual requirement of dental continuing education. Dr. Oh is also fluent in both English and Korean.

We had a great experience, my 4 year old son loved it. Facility was very clean and children oriented and the staff were very professional and nice. I highly recommend!

The staff was very helpful and friendly! We took our 2 year old for his first visit and of course, he was scared. The hygienist was very patient with him and so was the dentist when he came to check his teeth. They didn't get frustrated or upset when he struggled or cried. The office was very clean and organized. So happy we decided to go with Lighthouse!

10am appointment. I arrived there earlier and waited 25min for cleaning appointment. I asked if this is normal waiting time like 25 min. Two workers there said yes. Also I found very strange that I saw people went in who came later than me. Filling is done last year. Dentist said it needed to be done again. Sounds like you have failed the filling last time which the dentist would not accept. I got filling 10 year ago and it is still fine. Very questionable. My husband received a call from dentist office this afternoon after viewing this review. He was told that My long wait was due to the fact that my son needed the room. Thank you for your time calling. Your call reminded me as follow. First, no one explained or cared until I went to the front seat asked about my long wait. I was already not happy. Second, where is the reason that I made a appointment ahead the actual treatment day? Suddenly after I showed up, the office thought about my son needs a room? Third, my son has Autism. You can not use his disability as your excuse. I have not even mentioned yet that my son was not able to get cleaning at all! from this appointment. I'm fine if his mood was not up for that then I am ok wasting my time going there for nothing because he has disability. But as mother I have to try anyway. I was not the one who received a call from the office. My husband was. Thank you for telling us finally the reason for a long wait.

I accompanied my little brother for a dental procedure he was getting done that had general anesthesia involved. The interior of the office was pleasant as well as the front desk. I was upset with the service and mannerism of the dentist, anesthesiologist and dental staff. They did not show the slightest bit of empathy for their worried and concerned patient and the guardian. It was less than 30min before closing the dentist had left but the anesthesiologist was becoming impatient because my brother was still not waking up out of the anesthesia. Although he did not directly tell us to leave he showed us he wanted us to leave so he could leave and his staff could clean up. We did not select the time of the appointment the office did. My mother and i tried to get our brother to our car and he still couldn't manage to even stand up straight on his own not once did the anesthesiologist offer to help he just left as soon as we exited the room.

We had a great experience here! It was my daughter's first time visiting the dentist and the front desk receptionist was very kind, as well as the rest of the staff. Everyone was super friendly. They were very reassuring and would explain to my daughter every step and what they were doing and tools they were using. They made her feel safe and comfortable! I will definitely bring my son here as well for his first appointment. 10/10 recommend :)

I absolutely loved how they took care of my 3 year old daughter! Patient and sweet. The only reason they didn't get a 5 star review is at first they told me they couldn't give a price on a procedure until it was started. No, I need to know what it's going to cost before I do it. After explaining that I got a price.

I've taken my son here since he was a year old, he is 3 years old now, and the entire staff make his entire dentist visits so wonderful. From the front desk, to the dental hygienist, to the dentist= just pure delight and so kind and gentle with my little one . Their office is clean which is a huge plus! I'm grateful I listened to the other reviews and took my son here. They also accept Medicaid which again I am SO grateful for. Thank you Lighthouse!
