I have been practicing dentistry in Midland, MI since 1998.To me, being a dentist means that I have a greatopportunity to make a difference.I am in the field of helping people feel andlive better, both physically and mentally.Dentistry has effects well beyond theteeth and jaw line.It can help patients feel more confident and oral health is connected to other parts of the body as well.It is my honor to affect peoplein a way that really matters. I attended Michigan State University for my undergraduatedegree.I then attended Kellogg Community College to study dental hygiene.I practiced dental hygiene for 17 years before returning to school for my Doctorate of Dental Surgery, graduating from the University of Michigan Dental School.
I enjoy the chance to work with people from manydifferent backgrounds and places.I find each of my patients stories to be fascinating and unique.They enrich my life on a daily basis.I also appreciatethe many different needs that patients bring to the office.I find myself constantly challenged and learning in order to offer the best quality of oral care possible.To best serve my patients, I have trained in all disciplines of dentistry.
I attend continuing education classes andseminars on a regular basis.This is a great benefit to the quality and efficiency of treatments I can offer.I value being up-to-date on the newest developments in technology and techniques in dentistry.I also love learningnew ways to provide incredible oral care.
I am a native of Alpena, MI.I have lived inthe Midland area since 1999 where I live with my husband and several dogs and cats.The dogs and cats are like children to us.I actively train, show, and judge for dog shows.I also enjoy gardening.
Ifeel very blessed by my community.Being involved with projects and groups is agreat way to give back, and it is good for the soul.I am currently involved in Donated Dental Services and I volunteer for Helping Hands Dental Clinic. Theyboth allow me to use my profession in service of the community, which I love.
I assist Dr. Skiba with patient care, assist our orthodontic patients, and maintain all the equipment in our office. I have over 20 years of dental experience and was happy to join Dr. Skiba in 2009. It is always my goal to help our patients be as comfortable as possible when theyre visiting the dentist. They always leave our office with a smile. I am a mother of teenage twins, Nathan and Kirsten. I enjoy going to classic car shows, rollerblading, and spending time with my family.
I love interacting with patients and teaching them how important oral hygiene is. Since joining our team in 2011, I have gotten to know so many of our patients and have built wonderful relationships with many of them. Being a part of the Lighthouse Family Dental Care team has been a great experience! My free time is spent reading, cooking, and doing Zumba. I also have two Shih-tzus and a cat.
I help make sure that Lighthouse Family Dental Care runs smoothly by taking care of the behind-the-scenes business and administrative duties. Making this office successful is my number one goal, mostly because I believe in the quality of care Dr. Cynthia Skiba provides, and Im not just saying that because shes my wife!

Cynthia Skiba was the first dentist I saw after moving to Midland in 2021, having heard good reviews from someone I knew. The dental hygienist did a thorough job cleaning my teeth. What bothered me was leaving the office with a $10,000 treatment plan even though I had been to a dentist three months prior, post cleaning, for a small dental procedure. I maintained regular dental care every 6 months throughout my life and over the last 20 years from qualified dentists, colleagues and relatives, who also taught dentistry at the University level. After consulting my dentist colleagues and previous dentists, I went to McLaren Dental Associates for a second opinion. I came away with no treatment plan. Then after my next 6 month cleaning at McLaren's I again had no treatment plan even though I saw one of their associates.

Great dentist, friendly staff. Only issue is no matter how many times I say no fluoride on my kids teeth, they still keep doing it. Please quit doing that :P 10/10 im glad I found Dr. Skiba and her team, my teeth look better than they ever have.

Would not recommend. Most of the staff nice but Dr. is extremely rough and rude to not only her patients but also her staff. Like other reviewers I've had trouble being numbed properly at this office as well. Have found a new dentist and cannot believe the difference in care I've received. If you are looking for a good dentist - look elsewhere.

The assistant did my entire work up and was super sweet. She gave me tons of info and even with me being terrified of going to the dentist she was super nice and gentle about everything. Unfortunately I did only see the doc for a hot second but she was super nice as well. Highly recommend to anyone!

Worst dentist I've ever had and my family and friends agree. Doesn't care about the patient and only talks about her show dogs while she was drilling my teeth barely numbing me and I spent over 20 minutes trying to get her attention to tell her I can feel everything and she only worried about her dogs.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR SURGERY. Everyone at the office is great except cynthia skiba. She is a bully who roughly handles her patients and doesn't care if they are numb or not when performing sugery.

I have been going to Dr Skiba for a few years. I am generally anxious going to the dentist but Dr Skiba has been wonderful. I would recommend to anyone looking for a dentist that cares about preserving the longevity of your smile.

Great atmosphere. Welcoming staff. The most pain free cleanings I've ever received in my life. Max is awesome. Skiba is very heavy handed when working, but a perfectionist. She is very up front with things, too. Which is great IMO. I haven't been to a dentist regularly since I was in high school. This dental office makes me feel very comfortable and confident about getting dental work done. Don't mind the negative reviews, you can't please everybody.
