The dental practice at 600 Light Street was started in 1979 by Dr. George Williams as a satellite faculty medical practice of the University of Maryland, Baltimore campusHarbor Healthcare. The practice was created to service the low-income elderly population residing in the Christ Church Harbor Apartments on Light Street (the building our office shares).

Dr. Williams, a faculty member of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, managed the faculty practice where general physicians, psychiatrists, ophthalmologists and podiatrists all shared space to service the people in the building.

With Dr. Williams at the helm, the practice has grown and changed over the last 32 years. The University of Maryland decided to move its medical clinics to other locations, and Dr. Williams began adding additional general dentists to the practice, including wife Dr. Lisa Williams, and Dr. Nicole Forel in 2006.

Over the years, Drs. George and Lisa Williams have built a tremendous reputation in Baltimore city because of their high standards of care and quality of service for patients. Patients today include people living or working in the city, families that have been with the practice for decades and new people moving into the Federal Hill area. The practice also continues to serve the elderly people in the Christ Church Harbor Apartments.

Dr.Nicole C. Forel moved to Maryland from Brooklyn, NY in 1997 to attend Johns Hopkins University. After graduating with a BA in Natural Sciences in 2001, she attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005. She participated in an international internship at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and completed a general practice residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

So, we've really appreciated the staff over the years, and have had generally positive if non-complicated care there. But given the website describes it as a "cosmetic and family dental office," it's confusing that they have effectively refused to care for our children at this point, after several years (ten), and have said "we don't really do kids anymore." Don't know what that's about. But it's sent us looking for someplace closer to home that actually seems interested in caring for our family.

If flying from Seattle made a bit more logical sense, I would totally go back to them. Only reason being Nikki. She was my hygienist and the best one I've ever had. I am not super fond of the dentists here but the way Nikki treated me over my 2 years in Baltimore, I really try hard not buying that flight ticket.

I've spent much of life in various medical offices both as a provider and a patient. I can confidently say that this practice is exceptional and run very well. They provide excellent patient care, put you at ease, communicate effectively, and have an extremely helpful and accommodating front staff. Dr. Nicole is incredibly knowledgable and experienced in what she does. I have seen other providers there for emergencies etc when she was not available and they too were outstanding. Can't say enough about how wonderful they are. I've been to many practices over the years living in different states but this practice stands out as the best.

Probably the best dental experience of my life. Everything was easy -- from calling and making an appointment, verifying that they would take my insurance and I wouldn't get a huge bill, to finding the place, getting my teeth cleaned, and wrapping up the appointment. I had Leah (not sure if I'm spelling that right) as my hygienist, who was super calm and pleasant the entire time. This is my new spot.

My endodontist (Dr Lesco) referred my to Dr Forel to make an implant crown for me. She completely ruined my smile, made a big chunk flat 2D yellow crown for me. I feel so uncomfortable smiling, and it's all because of her. I called her office, mentioned that I'm really unhappy with this but she just doesn't care. If it was her first time, I could say it is an accident. But she did ruin my flipper as well. The flipper was not being held in my mouth and she instructed me to use adhesive to hold it!! Can you imagine removing adhesive from roof of your mouth each time before and after drinking/eating?! She instead made an Essix because I was literally going to grad school every day without front tooth. The essix was even worse than the flipper, it was breaking all my tooth from the pressure. I would not even refer my enemy to her. Really depressed with what she did with me at my young age. Look at teeth #10, that's her art!!

I came in for the first time this week as a new patient and I am SO happy I did! After many years of avoiding the dentist, I had extreme anxiety about it. Everyone here was so friendly and made me feel so taken care of. No judgment or scolding which was a huge relief! Esther, my hygienist was amazing! I had worried that there was permanent damage done to my teeth after years of no cleanings, but she polished them right up and restored them to their former whiteness. I can't stop staring at my clean teeth! And I'm actually looking forward to coming back in 6 months. :) Thanks all!

light street dental has restored my faith in dentistry! being someone who had some really crumby experiences and HATED going to the dentist, i have been so exceptionally pleased coming to light street. from the secretaries to the hygienists, every person i've interacted with has always been just so pleasant. personally i have had wonderful experiences with nikki as my hygienist, she is so sweet and gentle when cleaning and i always leave with a shiny smile :) i also really love that they're not judgmental in any way; i've hated dentists in the past that just scold me for whatever i'm doing wrong and that is NOT the case at all here; they really just care about your health and make any recommendations in a positive way. could not recommend more, especially those who fear the dentist, give light street the opportunity to change your mind :)

No longer my favorite place! They charge for a late fee during the Covid when things happened unexpectedly! Very disappointed, the lady (Not Sarah) was very rude on the phone when she called about my missing appointment, she refused to waive!

In March of 2021 I had a great experience in their office, however due to staffing they recently had to cancel an upcoming appointment. It is also important to note that the office does not have an answering machine or an emergency number. I had to endure three days of pain over a holiday weekend, called and emailed multiple times and eventually ended up being seen by a different dentist. Wouldn't recommend for last minute or emergency appointments.

Dr. Monica is great! Very cheerful. She recently filled a cavity and cut a piece of my gum near wisdom tooth. I was in and out of her office in 45 minutes and feel no pain the next day.
