At Donato Implant Dentistry, we specialize in implant placement. Although having a beautiful smile and the confidence that comes with that are important, there are also important health reasons to have dental implants. Whether replacing one tooth or several, implants are an important solution to restoring and maintaining dental health.
Once a tooth is lost, several things begin to happen that are not immediately noticeable to a patient and which can have a significant negative effect on both health and appearance. Tooth roots help hold teeth in place, but they are also critical in maintaining health in the surrounding gums and supporting bone structures. Bone loss in the jawbone is one of the significant problems that naturally occurs once a tooth is lost. This bone loss can compromise the integrity of neighboring tooth roots and tooth stability. This bone loss is also a large part of what causes the sunken look that is seen in people who have lost several or all of their teeth. It is the reason patients who wear dentures find that over time their dentures are harder and harder to fit and keep in place.
Dental implants are the replacement of tooth roots in the mouth. Implants provide a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth. Dental implants, which are placed in the jawbone, are small anchors made of a biocompatible metal called titanium. The anchors begin to fuse with the bone over the course of a few months. After the fusing process, known as osseointegration, abutment posts are inserted into the anchors to allow for the permanent attachment of the replacement teeth.
Using a virtual 3-D model or a physical model, implant placements and the following restorative work can be simulated to create the ideal patient treatment plan. These virtual plans allow the doctor to take multiple aspects of implant placement and restoration into consideration, resulting in optimal aesthetics, function and longevity for the patients final restoration. Working with a 3-D model also allows the patient to better understand the procedures and visualize the end result.
Once planning is complete, specialized software can be used to create a surgical guide for use during implant placement. This guide directs the exact location, angle and depth of the implant placement. The use of the guide increases the accuracy, efficiency, safety and predictability of the procedure.
An implant supported bridge is a restorative solution for spaces where three or more adjacent teeth are missing. Thebridge replaces multiple adjacent missing teeth without the use of a denture. This restoration typically requires two implants to support the porcelain bridge. The bridge provides a functional and aesthetic replacement for the patients natural teeth.
Implant supported dentures can be either fixed or removable. This solution requires the placement of two or more implants. If a removable denture is selected, the denture will snap on to the implant rather than requiring the use of denture paste or adhesives. Removable dentures can be taken out for cleaning at night.

Nitrous oxide, sometimes referred to as laughing gas, is an effective and safe sedation agent that is inhaled through a mask that fits over your nose to help you relax. Mixed with oxygen, Nitrous oxide allows you to breathe normally through your nose and within minutes you should start to feel the effects. You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs. Some patients comment that their legs and arms feel heavy. Ultimately, you should feel comfortable and calm. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off quickly after the small mask is removed. Talk to the doctor about whether nitrous oxide would be a good option for you.
IV sedation/general anesthesia uses medications to allow the patient to go to sleep while receiving dental treatment. Surgical patients or patients with high levels of anxiety, or special needs may benefit from IV sedation/general anesthesia. The doctor can discuss the benefits of general anesthesia and help patients determine if it is the best choice for them.

Our daughter Kristin is autistic and has a fear of medical practitioners in general . Every visit to the daughter has to be carefully planned and coached that we may avoid a major meltdown. The staff at Lifetime Smiles was very compassionate and sympathetic to our daughters needs. Taylor, worked with Kristin to help get her panographic xray which, although unsuccessful, did get some images. Dr. Donato is a very caring and kind doctor who went over all of the options with us. We will going the route of sedation dentistry and Christopher, the office manager worked with us on securing the proper paperwork and information that we will need. We want to thank the wonderful staff of Lifetime Smiles for being so kind to us.

How many times have you said: "I hate going to the dentist"? I used to say it all the time - was dreadfully afraid of them. Lifetime Smiles helped me get over that fear as they do everything they can to make sure I'm comfortable and pain-free. They don't keep you there for hours at a time either. Give them a try the next time you find yourself having to go to the dentist and doing everything in your power not to go.....take it from one of the "biggest baby" out there. :-)

Installed a crown that broke completely off. This happened in less than a year when called they stated there is no warranty on a crown. After fighting back-and-forth finally found out who made the crown and called him directly. They said they would have taken care of it but at that point it had been too long. Very bad business practice, looking to get a buck from their customer but not willing to stand behind their products or work. Now I continue to get a text from these people even though I have responded stop several times the annoyance does not stop. Save yourself the pain and aggravation.

I was on vacation when tragedy struck and I suddenly had immense mouth pain. I called around looking for help and Lifetime Smiles was one of few places open on a Friday. They were booked but somehow managed to squeeze me in. I cannot express how grateful I am for their accommodation to see me. Their staff was incredible and so kind and helpful. Dr. B saw me and discovered I had an infection and got me started on antibiotics. Because I was leaving the following day, he did his best to help me with my pain management to get me through until I got home to have my dentist treat me. Top notch dental care but their kindness and helpfulness will always be remembered. Thank you so much!!

I went for a cleaning and checkup. The dentist said I had a chip on one of my teeth that he needed to fix. 30 minutes later after drilling and then he filled it (which started as a chip) I now have serious pain in that tooth I had NO pain before I went to him. Very strange.

A crown and/or cap broke off and came out of my mouth I called right away and they took me the same day. Dr. B and his assistant Brenda , were, excellent in their repair. The office staff, Sherri and Taylor were extremely professional and helpful as well. Recently I also am having an implant repair, again Dr. B and his assistant yet a different Taylor once again were working on that procedure which was also excellent. I very highly recommend Lifetime Smiles here in Sarasota.

The most caring amazing dental staff I have ever come across. They made me feel so calm comfortable and not dreading seeing the dentist. The ladies all of them were just unbelievably knowledgeably about my dental insurance and explain to me what treatment I needed and answered all my questions.Dr.Brandscombe was gentle patient and catered to my phobias. I would definitely recommend this OFFICE if you want to be treated like family A. Just started going there after moving from NY. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Sherrie, one of the staff members goes out of her way for the patients that walk through the door. She has done so for me personally on two separate occasions (I've only been to the office twice). Not to mention the dentist does great work and my teeth look great. 10/10 would recommend.
