We believe the key to dental success is establishing good oral habits at an early age, with an emphasis on regular preventive dental care. Dr. April Toyer, being a pediatric dentist, will eventually graduate her patients once they reach adulthood or once they have advanced dental problems concerning permanent teeth. Dr. Leonard Toyer, Jr. is a general dentist that is highly trained in complex dental conditions. It is important for a pediatric dentist to have a strong relationship with a general and cosmetic dentist that they can trust so that they feel comfortable referring those patients that they have cared for since infancy. Our focus on prevention and excellent restorative skills will provide our patients with the tools to maintain superior oral health for a lifetime.
April is our office manager at Lifetime Dental Care. April began her dental career in 1992 and has experience in general, cosmetic, orthodontic, pediatric, and sedation dentistry. She earned her Virginia certification for dental x-rays in 1999. She is crossed trained and is able to assist the doctors with patients as well. April has always had a passion for helping people and has continued to pursue this passion thru her love of dentistry. Her extensive knowledge of dentistry and insurance ensures that patients can utilize and maximize all of their dental benefits.
Yvette joined our team in July 2015. She is a dedicated, caring and gentle clinician with a focus on providing the most up to date patient oral care and education. She has a warm and welcoming demeanor that will help put you at ease.
Yvette has a Bachelors degree in Biology and a Masters degree in Computer Information Mgmt from Marymount University. She worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 15 years before obtaining her degree in Dental Hygiene from Northern Va, Community College in 2010. She is a member of the ADHA.
Megan has worked in the dental field for over ten years. She is cross- trained to work in both the front and back office. Megans love and passion for dentistry comes across in her knowledge and care that she takes with each individual patient. Megan enjoys spending time with family and friends by the lake and keeps busy chasing after her two year old son Jayden. She enjoys all outdoor activities as well was watching football.
Arlen is a dental assistant in our office. Arlen was born in Nicaragua, her family legally moved to United States in 1998 to live and work. She received hands on training as a Dental Assistant in 2004, and has continued her career in dentistry ever since. Arlen recently received her latest achievement, becoming a US citizen in July of 2013. Arlens dedication and care to her patients is always above and beyond. Her friendly mannerisms and infectious laugh always makes patients feel comfortable. When not working, Arlen enjoys cooking and spending time with her two kids Jayden and Rosella and her husband Juan.
Ambar is another one of our wonderful dental assistants. Her warm and caring nature puts our patients at ease. Ambar graduated from Freedom High School in 2012, she then continued her education and pursued a career in dentistry graduating as a dental assistant in 2014. Her knowledge and personal rapport with patients has made her a wonderful asset to our team. In her free time, Ambar can be found spending time with her loved ones or on the court in a competitive volleyball game.
Sandra Centeno joined the team at Lifetime Dental Care in 2013. She received her certificate in Dental Assisting in 2004. She enjoys learning and expanding her dental knowledge. She loves helping patients with their dental needs. Sandra is soft spoken but will reassure patients that they are in good hands. She loves spending time with her three handsome little boys Nathan, Aiden and Ethan and her husband for over seven years Marvin.
Aritza became a dental assistant in 2009 and obtained her Ohio State Dental Board Dental Assistant Radiology License. She joined the Lifetime Dental team in 2014. She strives to build relationships with our patients and finds their trust very important and rewarding. Aritza considers going to work is a new experience each day with an opportunity to ensure our patients feel comfortable and leave with a smile. She enjoys traveling and most of all spending time with her husband, sons, grandchildren and family.
Cherise entered the field of dentistry in 2012. She enjoys being in healthcare and working with children because she enjoys helping others alleviate their fears. Cherise is a native of the Washington, DC area. She is a spontaneous person who enjoys getting to know people and has a way of explaining things that puts you at ease. She has three children and loves cooking and spending time outdoors.
Dr. April also grew up as an army brat, but resided many years in Bowie, Maryland. She attended theUniversity of Virginiaand received a degree in Biology and Bioethics in 2003. There she volunteered at the Charlottesville Free Clinic and developed a love for dentistry. Dr. Toyer attended dental school at theUniversity of Marylandand took part in the Pediatric Dentistry Clerkship program. It was there that she met her husband, Dr. Leonard Toyer. During her summers off from dental school, Dr. Toyer worked for the Department of Education to be surrounded by young smiles. After graduating from dental school in 2007, she attended Howard University for her residency inpediatric dentistry, which she completed in 2009. In her spare time Dr. Toyer enjoys writing, playing the piano, swimming and spending time with her husband and her son Austin.
Dr. April believes that the prevention of dental disease is the best cure. She skillfully delivers restorative care utilizing child-centered behavior guidance and anxiolysis techniques as well as dental outpatient surgery under general anesthesia.
Dr. April became a Diplomate of theAmerican Board of Pediatric Dentistryin 2011, which certifies pediatric dentists based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a pediatric dentist has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills, and experience requisite to the delivery of quality patient care. She is proud to be a consultant forCommittee of Sedation and Anesthesia for theAmerican Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Leonard grew up traveling as an army brat. His family finally settled down in Fairfax County Virginia in his teenage years. After high school Dr. Toyer went on to receive his undergraduate degree in biology from Hampton University. Always knowing he wanted to be a dentist, he next attendedVirginia Commonwealth Universityto obtain his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2003. Wanting to increase his speed and proficiency in advanced dental techniques, Dr. Toyer then went to the University of Maryland to receive his two year certificate in AdvancedGeneral Dentistry, completed in 2005. There he practicedimplantplacement and restoration, rotary endodontics, hard and soft tissue surgeries, and cosmetic procedures in addition to general dentistry. Since the completion of this program he has been in private practice in Northern Virginia. Dr. Toyer enjoys spending time with his family and heis an active member in the community. He volunteers his time at local clean-up programs and homeless shelters. He also is involved in youth programs, mentoring students, and participating in scholarship drives with the local chapter of his fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha.
Dr. Toyer is committed to advanced education in his field. He has been trained by the Hiossen Advanced Dental Implant Research & Education Center to become proficient in implant placement and restoration.
Dr. Park grew up in Woodbridge, Virginia and went on to attend the University of Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He went to Nova Southeastern University where he earned his DMD degree and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society. After graduating, he earned an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island. There he received advanced training in up-to-date dental techniques in different fields of dentistry, including digital dentistry, which he has been using in private practice.
Dr. Park understands the importance of good oral health and enjoys taking the time to educate his patients about their teeth. He is committed to providing quality care as well as building relationships with his patients. When not in the office, he likes hiking, mountain biking, camping, playing soccer, and watching movies.
Dr. Christy Hark was born in South Korea when she and her family moved to Alexandria, VA at an early age. Ever since she was young she knew she had a passion for the art of dentistry. In her high school and college years, she attended dental assisting programs and took part time jobs as a dental assistant where she was able to grow her experiences working in dental offices and learning from remarkable doctors. She fulfilled that hope at Howard University College of dentistry and where she earned her degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery.
Dr. Hark has vast experiences working with all age groups and people from all different walks of life. From pediatrics to geriatrics she has served as a dentist in Assisting Living Facilities, group homes, the medically underserved populations, as well as, corporate dental practices but has found her passion to be amongst the children and helping kids. Dr. Hark values self-confidence and feels that the best part of her job is to know that kids can grow more confident in themselves through a beautiful smile and a strong self-image.
Dr. Hark enjoys volunteering with organizations such asMissions of MercyandGive Kids A Smilebecause she believes in giving back to the community and helping those who have a harder time helping themselves.
During her free time, she likes to spend it with the ones she loves: her family, friends, and her cat named Twinkie. She is a member of Global Mission Church and is an active member of the worship band as a pianist and singer. Her hobbies include playing the piano, binge watching Netflix, drawing, singing, and most of all spending time with her husband.
Dr. Patel grew up in Chattanooga, TN and attended East Tennessee State University where she graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in Health Sciences. Realizing her passion for dentistry while volunteering at a local VA Hospital, she then went to Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine to obtain her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD), where she had the opportunity to tutor younger dental students and enjoyed the teaching experience. She graduated from there in 2010 and received the Deans Award for Academic and Clinical Excellence. Dr. Patel went on to complete a General Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Knoxville Medical Center, where she received advanced training in modern techniques for private practice, operating room, and dental emergencies. As part of her residency program, she also received training in the field of forensic dentistry.
Dr. Patel worked in Knoxville, TN for 7 years in private practice before moving to D.C. Throughout her career she has taken courses to advance her skills in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, Botox, and laser procedures. Dr. Patel has a strong understanding of the latest techniques and procedures for the delivery of quality comprehensive dental care. In her dedication to patient comfort for both children and adults, she strives to reduce the anxiety sometimes associated with visiting the dentist.
