Dr. Richard DelVecchio was born and raised in Connecticut, growing up outside Hartford in Vernon where his parents both still reside. Dr. DelVecchio and his three siblings grew up with a strong appreciation for dentistry as their father owned a successful Periodontal practice.

After obtaining his BAS in Biology and Psychology from the University of Delaware, Richard went on to receive his Dental Degree from NYU where he was involved in numerous leadership roles including Class President, the Student Ethics Board, as well as the Student Council. After graduation, Dr. DelVecchio completed a two-year General Practice Residency at St. Marys Hospital, an affiliate of Yale, where he gained valuable experience in all facets of dentistry as well as Operating and Emergency Room rotations.

Dr. DelVecchio has been a continued volunteer in numerous dental outreach programs including Give Kids a Smile and the annual Mission of Mercy free annual dental clinics throughout Connecticut. He has also had the privilege of serving as the Dental Director of the New Haven School Smile program since its inception in June 2015.

In his free time, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and his three dogs, as well as keeping active by running, swimming, playing golf or tennis and jet skiing. He also loves to read, travel, and fulfill his love of history by visiting museums. Dr. DelVecchio is very excited to be joining the Colchester Team and will continue to build relationships based on trust, community, and premier care already established by Dr. Batchelder. He looks forward to meeting all our wonderful patients here at Life Long Dental Care and taking care of all of your dental needs!

Went in as a new patient in a lot of pain and just got a referral, pain got worse and I called back on the emergency line and no one called me back ever, no doctor or nurse, no one, what's the point of an emergency line that doesn't help?

It's been two years since I've had my dental work done there and I'm still dealing with the repercussions of it. I came in because one of my crowns that I had for several years was a bit loose. I was hoping he could just pop it back in. He said i needed an entirely new crown. A couple thousand dollars later I woke up with the most pain I've ever had in my entire life. The crown you could feel with your finger had a large gap between my gum and the crown but besides that it was pushing on my other tooth next to it which caused the filling to pop out. I went back in. He told me there was no problem with the crown, charged me $200, and gave me some pain pills because he couldn't fix the other tooth until next week. He said I needed a root canal on that other tooth and also another crown. Mind you never had a problem with that tooth until the dental work. I'm not a person that gets second opinions but I got a weird vibe and there was no way I could survive another week with this pain. So I went across town they were able to fit me in right away. Turns out I didn't need a root canal they replaced the filling and recommended to replace the crown that was ill fitting. I said I couldn't afford yet another crown on the same tooth and they understood. I've since moved to a different state, that dentist also said I needed to replace that crown. It continues to push on the other tooth and made a large gap because of it. I needed work to close the gap and will eventually need to replace the crown! I understand being a bad dentist but also scamming my money trying to do unnecessary root canals and charging me just to come in and fix the shoddy work is so not ok. The front desk is rude too. I've never had such a terrible and expensive experience in my life. I still deal with pain and financial costs. Stay away!

Great doc, staff and hygienists. Very quick to help if you need attention. Started to go here after I haven't visited the dentist in a while and they didn't make me feel horrible about myself like some practices do. Also willing to work with you on a care plan so you aren't paying 100% out of pocket once insurance is up.

I had *severe* dental anxiety for a long time but after breaking a few teeth grinding them at night, it was time to stop avoiding the dentist. Dr Delvecchio and the hygientists have all been so nice and helped me feel at ease with all the work I now need. I've had a root canal, some fillings, a crown, and have more in the works but I'm no longer experiencing high blood pressure when I think about it! I appreciate how patient and gentle they've been with me. Highly recommend!

The young woman who worked on my teeth was very kind and gentle, the atmosphere was pleasant, the receptionist was diligent and friendly. I was nervous to go because it had been so long, but they made me feel relaxed and calm. I definitely recommend this place.

I have extreme anxiety about teeth cleanings, because they have always hurt. Jenna was incredibly gentle and understanding. I have never felt as relaxed as I felt, and I almost fell asleep. I highly recommend Jenna as a hygenist!

I have never given a bad review like this in my entire life but I had a horrible experience at Life Long Dental Care in Colchester. The dentistry was fine, but the front desk customer service was the very worst I have ever experienced in my life. Afterwards, I assumed that I would be able to resolve the matter by explaining the situation to the dentist in writing, but he never even bothered to contact me after receiving my letter. I did speak with a manager who oversees the customer service training to this location and the other Life Long Dental Care locations, and she agreed that I was treated improperly, and she confirmed that Dr. Delvecchio (the dentist at the Colchester location) did in fact receive my letter. Still, no response from the dentist. Honestly, I am shocked that as a cash-paying new patient prepared to get cleanings four times a year (plus some additional dental work) would be treated so badly as to obviously lose me as a client. Clearly, they just don't need the business.
