Dr. Paul Upatham received his dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in 2001, and completed his Masters of Science, Craniofacial Biology and orthodontic training at the University of Southern California in 2004. Since then, he has worked in private practice in San Diego, California and is a former clinical instructor at the USC graduate orthodontic program. He is an American Board Certified Orthodontist and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, San Diego Dental Society, and Edward H. Angle Society Affiliate. Dr. Upatham loves watching his patients lives change as their smiles are transformed, and believes that good communication and patient education are very important for treatment success.
Dr. Katherine Wong received her dental degree from University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in 2013, and completed her Masters of Science, Craniofacial Biology and orthodontic training at the University of Southern California in 2016. Dr. Wong and Dr. Upatham have worked closely together as partners at La Jolla Village Orthodontics the past few years, and she is excited to be joining Liberty Station Orthodontics. She is an American Board Certified Orthodontist and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, San Diego Dental Society, and Edward H. Angle Society Affiliate. Dr. Wongs goal is to have each patient finish with a beautiful, confident, and healthy smile and for that smile to last a lifetime!
Dr. Richard McLaughlin completed his orthodontic training at the University of Southern California in 1976. Since then, he has been in the full-time practice of orthodontics in San Diego, California. He has lectured extensively in the United States as well as internationally. He is a member of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, and is the Southern California Component Director of the Edward H. Angle Society. In addition, Dr. McLaughlin is a clinical professor at the University of Southern California, Department of Orthodontics in Los Angeles, California, and an associate professor at St. Louis University, Department of Orthodontics.

Our office is state-of-the-art. All patient records are digitally stored for convenience and to ensure privacy. We use the latest in digital radiography to minimize x-ray exposure, and to achieve the highest quality images. Our in-house lab and full-time lab technicians allow for ideal quality control and quicker turn around. Also, for the comfort and enjoyment of the patient and parents, we have flat screen TVs with headphones and complimentary WiFi access.

Great facility, friendly and courteous staff well organised and professional. Dr Upatham and all the team are great with the kids and with the parents. Very informative and direct with his treatment plan. My daughter can't wait to go back.

The staff are very kind and welcoming, prompt with follow up, and the doctors are all very patient and well-knowledgeable on all questions regarding braces and aligners. I was new to the area and they also referred me to a local dentist. 100% would recommend Liberty Station Orthodontics to anyone who may consider getting aligners.

This was our first consultation visit with Dr. Upatham and his team. I was very impressed with how organized and therough with the general examination . I was very impressed with the photos and x-rays taken and his explanation of what type of orthodontic treatment would be needed. My husband and I were very pleased that his recommendations for our daughter were conservative and that he didn't push a full set of braces right away but wanted to take a methodical approach, which would be extraction of some baby teeth first! He asked us and our daughter if we had any questions or other concerns. I had a very good first impression and first time visiting Liberty Station Orthodontics and would definitely recommend them to other parents.

They deserve 6 stars. I contacted them to have a consultation for Invisalign and get a quote. I had the visit and consultation this morning my impression was they are PROFESSIONALS. They were on time, clear and strait to the point, I really appreciate that. Unfortunately I can't afford the treatment right now because it's over my budget but if I decide to do it for sure they will be my first opinion.

I've been very happy with Dr.Upatham and Dr. Wong for my treatment so far. The techs are all great and super friendly as well. They've been very prompt with appointment time and accommodating with scheduling! I had a button put on my crown several times because it kept falling off (not their fault), and Dr. Upatham gave me a Starbucks gift card since I had to come back. Highly recommend for Invisalign!

We are from out of town (Atlanta) and My 14 year old had a orthodontics crisis at Petco Park when an appliance came apart. We called them on Sunday and told them it was an emergency. They told us to come in at 8:30 Monday morning and fixed the problem. I can't say enough about their friendly, caring and capable staff. Just a first class operation.

I am an adult with a difficult gap between my two front teeth; it's difficult to stay closed with a retainer and multiple orthodontists have not been successful with closing it completely. I was not interested in bonding them together. Dr Upatham ordered a special machine to melt my retainer a bit to close the gap. He also ordered a specially made wire retainer. My gap is closed perfectly. Dr Upatham works WITH me and not "for" me or treating me like "just another number." His talent combined with his work ethic and humility makes him an outstanding orthodontist. My smile means a lot to me and my confidence feels restored.

Liberty Station Orthodontics is incredible! We came in as emergency clients. The wire on my son's upper braces came out and they bent over backwards to find him an appointment so that he could be comfortable until he was able to get home and see his orthodontist. We are so grateful for their thoughtfulness and kindness. Highly recommended!

Never thought I'd go into Ortho at this age, but have had a great experience with this group to whom I was referred to! The staff is fun, personable and professional, which always makes for a great experience! Drs. Upatham and Wong are just as fun and truly care about me as their patient! I went here for invisilign to keep my bite straight. The process was quick and easy. All my appointments have been on time. The staff is courteous and efficient. All the follow up appointments have been helpful. I've had a lot of dental work to keep my teeth healthy so that I can age with my own teeth. This has been a very positive experience. I am recommending this place and straightening teeth to friends and anyone thinking about it. Why wait? Love your smile.

And the braces are off! Many people asked me over these last years why I went through with it. My smile wasn't "bad" by any stretch. As a general dentist, I've seen firsthand the effects of long standing malocclusion and the trauma resulting from it. I had debilitating headaches brought on by a deep bite. My lower incisors were 30% worn down-at 40 that's pretty significant. My upper right central incisor was beginning to chip near the neck of the tooth (that means that tooth structure was being compromised and may well have resulted in a single broken central-an utter nightmare to restore, trust me!) After 2.5 years, my face is longer, my headaches are gone, my teeth "fit" together. And they're shiny! A huge shout out to Drs. Upatham and Wong at Liberty Station orthodontics for your excellent work! #retainerlife

Top notch and extremely attentive care. My son started his journey 7 years ago, and while I know that sounds a little crazy, let me tell you that his case was so incredibly complex that we honestly can't believe what they were able to achieve. It was almost shocking when viewing his before and after photos. Looking back, it was really hard watching our then 7 year old dealing with low self esteem because of his smile and so we are just so grateful to have found this amazing team of people. LSO truly took amazing care of him and gave him a smile that he is so proud to show now. They really went above and beyond.
