Dr. Rasool completed his (DMD) degree and specialty training program in prosthodontics from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He was awarded a Masters of Medical Science Degree (MMSc.), a certificate in the specialty of prosthodontics and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD).
He was a full-time Harvard faculty member for nine years, and was promoted to the rank of Head of the Division of Prosthodontics. During this tenure, he lectured extensively both nationally and internationally in addition to being one of the foremost clinicians in the Faculty Group Practice. Committed to excellence in clinical care and prioritizing his family needs, Dr. Rasool transitioned to private practice and continues his commitment to teaching at Harvard on a part-time basis.
Dr. Rasool is a member of numerous professional organizations. He is currently a consultant to the Accreditation Commission of the American Dental Association and the editorial board of TalkSurgery.com . He is also a member of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, is on the research review committee of the American College of Prosthodontists and on the Board of the Harvard Odontological Society.
Following her studies at at the University of California, Irvine, where she majored in Chemistry, Dr. Shah-Hosseini entered the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where she graduated cum laude with a Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) degree and with numerous awards and honors. She then completed a two-year general practice residency at Bostons Brigham & Womens Hospital where she gained expertise in the treatment of medically compromised patients, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in prosthodontics at Boston Universitys Goldman School of Dental Medicine where she earned a certificate in the specialty of prosthodontics.
Dr. Shah-Hosseini is currently a faculty member of the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences at Harvard. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Prosthodontists, the American Dental Association and the Harvard Odontological Society.
Dr. Crohin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California in Molecular Biology and then matriculated to the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD), and a Masters of Medical Sciences (MMSc.) degree. He then decided to continue at Harvard pursuing further studies in the specialty of periodontics.
Dr. Crohin provides various non-surgical and surgical approaches to treating gum disease, as well as implant placements, bone and gum graft replacements. He is a strong advocate of improving patients oral health and actively educates in areas such as proper oral hygiene and smoking cessation. He teaches periodontology and dental implant placement as a part-time clinical faculty member at Harvard University. He is a active member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Periodontology and the Harvard Odontological Society.
Dr. Crohin is a graduate of Harvard School of Dental Medicine where she received a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) and a certificate of General Practice Residency (Brigham and Women's Hospital) in 1998. She received a Masters of Medical Sciences (MMSC) and completed her periodontal training at HSDM in 2001. Dr. Crohin has been Board Certified in Periodontics since 2008 and recertified in 2014. She is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Massachusetts Dental Society and the Harvard Odontological Society.
Christine has been an important part of Lewis Wharf Dental Associates for 43 years serving as Office Manager. She started her dental career as a dental assistant and moved to the front office management after 4 years while she was attending night school. She is our financial and insurance coordinator and is happy to answer any questions you may have regarding you dental treatment.
The digital age has arrived at dentistrys doorstep. We use digital x-rays to help diagnose dental issues with far less radiation exposure up to 10X less. Now crowns and bridges can be made using a digital system called Cerec. Briefly, a digital image is taken of a tooth, a crown is designed using software and then the crown is made in office using a high-tech German milling machine. In about 1 hour a brand new, custom designed permanent crown can be made and seated.
CEREC crowns are made of a solid block of ceramic or resin materials. This type of crown is made right in our office during a single visit. There is no need to construct a temporary crown, take impressions for the permanent crown, and wait for the crown to be made at an off-site dental laboratory to be returned about a month later.
This type of crown uses computer technology to take a picture of the tooth that will receive the crown, as well as the surrounding teeth. Thanks to CAD software that works with this system, Drs Rasool and Shah-Hosseini can design the tooth while looking in your mouth, and make sure the color matches the rest of your teeth. Also, because the crown is made from a single block of material, it is considerably stronger than many other types of crowns.

Dr. Crohin and Terrell recently performed dental implant surgery on me. I was told what to expect before, during, and after surgery. I appreciated being kept fully informed during the process and was able to stay calm as a result.

I went for routine hygiene and ended up needing a cavity filled and some 'gum work'. There was discussion of a follow-up visit, but when I explained I lived on Martha's Vineyard that is 2+ hours away including ferry ride ($$$), the LWD team went out of their way to accommodate me. All services were provided in an extremely professional manner. I've been with LWD for 25+ years.

I am a regular at Lewis. Dr Rasool and Chris are my normal team while I have had occasion to meet and be cared for by other dentists and staff as well. This latest visit -- working around and with my crazy schedule -- was another example of why I come to Lewis Dental. Dr Rasool does the best work -- two needy teeth this time.
