Leonard Orthodontics began when Dr. Thomas Leonard opened our North Andover location in 1974. Soon after, in 1976, the Amesbury location was opened. As our practices continued to grow, the father-son team became a reality when Dr. Jeffrey Leonard joined his father in 1998. Dr. Jeffrey Leonard took over the practice in 2008, and we built and opened our newest location in Andover, MA. Recently, with the sudden loss of Dr. Jeffrey Leonard, his wife who is also an orthodontist, Dr. Mary Angelic Gangoy has made a commitmentto our patients tocontinue Dr. Jeffrey Leonard's legacy.

In an effort to provide a more pleasant patient experience with updated orthodontic technology, our North Andover office was expanded and completely renovated in 2011. All of our offices are in convenient locations with easy parking and access. We continue to serve our patients in Andover and North Andover with state-of-the-art technology, high-end equipment and beautifully decorated office space.

We treat every patient as if they were our own family. Our goal is to consistently provide exceptional comprehensive orthodontic care in a warm and caring environment, using the best materials, staffing, and equipment available. We are proud to have continued this mission for almost 40 years, creating generations of beautiful smiles.

Our team treats every patient with the highest level of compassion, respect and admiration. We aim to make each patient's office visit the greatest part of their day with the goal of providing extraordinary results and amazing smiles. Our highly trained orthodontic team is committed to helping you achieve what you deserve - a healthy, beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime.

Mary Angelic Gangoy, DMD is a native 'New Yorker who attended the State University of New York at Albany where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She graduated with honors from Tufts Dental School and earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine before entering her TUSDM Orthodontic Residency, where she earned a Certificate in the Specialty of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

During her educational years at Tufts, Dr. Gangoy participated in the university's research program at which time she became affiliated with the Robert Andrews Honor Society and International Association of Dental Research. Upon entering her orthodontic residency, Dr. Gangoy was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the international dental honor society, and awarded the Furman - Rosenberg Scholarship for achieving both clinical and academic excellence.

Dr. Gangoy has served as a representative for her local dental society on the Council on Access Prevention & Inter-professional Relations and has served on the Wakefield Rotary's Board of Directors and co-chaired the organization's 20th annual 6K road race.

As a clinician, Dr. Gangoy gains professional satisfaction through providing treatments for children and teens, which positively impacts their course of growth and development. In mastering her skills with more aesthetic orthodontic techniques (such as 3M iBraces and Invisalign), she has developed a niche among adult patients seeking orthodontic treatment. When discussing treatment options with them, Dr. Gangoy places high value on aesthetic considerations and addressing their chief concerns for seeking treatment.

When not in the office, she and her husband enjoy family activities such as coaching (or rooting from the side lines) soccer and hockey games for their two sons. 'Dr. G. has a love and affinity for interior design and contemporary art work. She is a true admirer of fashion and enjoys staying physically fit by running and attending spin classes.

I love being an orthodontist. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people, and the friendships that Ive built with my patients and their families are one in a million. It has always been my focus to make each patient feel at-home when they come to me for treatment and I work hard to give my patients the attention they deserve.

My education in dentistry and orthodontics has provided me with a strong foundation of knowledge and experience. Now, by regularly participating in continuing education, I am able to stay current on the latest technology and orthodontic treatments. My patients deserve the best, and continuing education allows me to provide them with more options and better results. I am a member of several professional associations that provide me with opportunities for continuing education.

I am truly blessed to live and work in such a wonderful community. I enjoy getting to know my patients and their families, and it is always such an honor to know that I have made a difference in so many of my patients lives. I couldnt ask for a better job or for better people sharing their smiles with me. I look forward to working with you.

Guess my old comment got deleted. Got braces in 2012 or so. Leonard was the best in medical practice. But the billing was terrible. A jobless student, they told me my insurance expired and I would have to pay to maintain my braces or remove them. I couldn't afford it and wore broken braces for about 2 additional years, unmaintained with metal protruding in more place than one. Likely the worst 2 years of my life. I studied my insurance and learned that although it's expired it still covered pending treatments. Flabbergasted billing didn't know this. Once I knew I went back. They did not maintain my braces any further, they just removed them. So I don't know if broken braces straightened my teeth or they just wanted me gone. What really peeves me is after 2 years of suffering the next appt they just take them off. I woulda just went to the ER

Came in here thinking I would get the same treatment when Dr. Leonard was alive and running this site. Unfortunately, I was very wrong. I called to make an appointment in order to replace a retainer that I lost a year ago in a house fire. When I called, the receptionist that responded told me the price ($495). I asked if I was going to have to wait a week like last time I got a replacement. She said no and that retainers are made within the same day of the appointment. I said okay and agreed to an appointment date and time. The day comes of the appointment, and everything is going as how I remembered it was last time. Until I get attended by what I assume is an orthodontic assistant (?). I noticed no actual orthodontist on site. So, the orthodontic assistant didn't ask me about my current state of teeth or what I was looking for, in which I found odd. I tried explaining some things, but the woman didn't bother to ask me to elaborate so I assumed she understood the purpose of my appointment (my teeth had shifted and I was looking for a retainer to shift my teeth back to how it was post braces, which Dr. Leonard did for me back in 2017). Anyways, she creates the mold and comes back maybe 30 mins later. She comes back with a clear retainer like the ones Invisalign uses. I told her this isn't what I wanted I wanted a Hawley retainer in which she said oh we make these now and told me if I don't like them I can make an appointment with an orthodontist who is only on site Wednesdays. I asked her will this be a monthly thing, and she proceeded to tell me this won't help shift teeth but only maintain my current state of teeth. I could only think "are you kidding me???" I wasted my time to get here and pay my hard earned money for someone to give exactly what I didn't ask for. Why would I want a retainer to maintain teeth that have visibly shifted? Having previously read the reviews before my appointment, I decided to leave instead of further dealing with them. With the way things are being ran and just the overall attitude of the situation, like this woman couldn't have clarified or the receptionist told me, knowing I have had this done before and have been a patient of Dr. Leonards since 2008. I could have easily complained and made a Wednesday appointment or whatever, but it's the principle. She saw the state of my teeth and thought "what she needs is a plastic retainer that does not help her situation at all". I don't plan on going back here and I plan to get my retainers elsewhere where they actual listen to my concerns and use common sense. It's sad to see Leonard Orthodontics being ran in the way it is now. Dr. Leonard was an A1 orthodontist that made sure his patients got exactly what they were paying for. Ridiculous...

Such a shame, ever since Dr. Leonard passed away, may he Rest In Peace, the practice has been increasingly worse in all areas. Wait times are absorbent, requiring patients to wait 35 min average on my last three appointments. Spoke with practice manager and was told it is due to Covid (yet other practices across all specialties have management to keep wait times down--our daughter goes to Ferlito, DMD in Bradford and there is literally ZERO WAIT. Ferlito also sees a high volume of patients as well. Clearly they're mastering their practice management and effectiveness. Once I explained that, I was told well it's the process of the these doctors and they are working to get braces off sooner by better practice, but yet that doesn't mean we're waiting an additional 35 min to be seen, our appointment times themselves aren't longer--just the wait. Finally, ask for practice of being booked first appointment of the day to negate this issues, since I am sure the practice would have me rescheduled if I tried to arrive 30 min late (in fact, once I called and stated I was 3 min late and was told they would have to check to see if they could still see us--which they did 27 min later and I patiently waited since I knew I was accountable for being a few minutes late). I was told, they will book a next appointment once this one was done if I needed to reschedule I could call the office and do so! SMH. Shame on this poor management, and shame on the providers who allow their names to be tied to such behavior.

DO NOT GO HERE, pulled "four good teeth to create room" That room did not close and now I have gaps after my completed treatment , went back and they told me to wait till my wisdom teeth will come back in that they will most likely close gaps. It's been two years wisdom teeth are here and gaps are still open. They told me there's nothing they can do. PLEASE go somewhere else!!

We love Dr. Leonard and his office staff! Both of my sons went to Dr. Leonard and we have been beyond happy with the care they have received. Dr. Leonard is extremely approachable and is always providing us with ongoing updates about their progress. Dr. Leonard is also extremely accommodating and was willing to stay late because my son's wire had come loose- I was so impressed! My oldest son recently had his braces removed and we could not be happier with the results! We are so happy we chose Leonard Orthodontics to help our children create perfect smiles.

My second child is in treatment at Leonard Orthodontists. I have been very happy with the services provided and the office personnel as well as the efficiency. Dr. Leonard is great with his patience and connects to them at a level the patient understands. I do not have enough good things to say about this practice and Dr. Leonatd. I highly recommend.
