Dr. White is originally from the Pittsburgh area. He is a first generation college graduate. His dad was a mechanic, and his mom & grandparents were exceptionally caring people. They were givers and those early influences are what has formed his approach to dentistry. Working with his hands comes natural to him, and he is in tune with the concerns of patients and staff alike. For him, its one of lifes great joys to have a positive influence on changing the lives of others.

His path in leading-edge dentistry began as a kid in high school when he got to know a dentist. He soon realized the crossroads that dentistry presents when it comes to working with your hands and caring for others. He attended West Virginia University, where he graduated cum laude and continued his education with a National Public Health Scholarship at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He still returns to his alma mater as a guest lecturer.

The science of dentistry is an ever-evolving discipline, and so Dr. White believes strongly in continued education and alliance with other leaders in the profession. He is a regular participant in the prestigious Pankey Institute for Continuing Education, The Pacific Aesthetic ContinuumPAC Live, and the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry Cosmetic Continuum.

This continuing education has given Dr. Ed the knowledge and expertise to provide state of the art dental care in the discplines of cosmetic dentistry, sedation dentistry, general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, dental implants, dental veneers, dental crowns, dental bridges and Invisalign. Root canals and snoring &sleep apnea treatments have improved greatly over the years. Whenever there is a new development in care, Dr. White is among the very first to improve your comfort.

More than thirty years ago, Dr. Ed settled on Elizabethtown to build his life because the area is consistent with the values he was taught as a child. Central Pennsylvania is a wonderful place to raise a family; people are warm and genuine. He appreciates the ethics of hard work, trust and family values. He tries to live up to those standards every day.

Dr. Whites passion for life extends well beyond education for the advancement of his profession. He knows that he has been Blessed and is an eager benefactor to our community. Hes been recognized nationally and locally for his leadership skills and his dedication to community service.

Hes a trustee at Elizabethtown College, a member of both the Elizabethtown Economic Development Board and the Elizabethtown Rotary International. In May 2009, Dr. White was awarded a Fellowship in the American College of Dentists for service to organized dentistry and to the Elizabethtown Community.

Dr. White has served as a delegate to the Pennsylvania Dental Association, President of the 5th District Dental Society and as a board member of the Lancaster County Dental Society. Youll find that the dentists and staff at White Family Dental have a passion for excellence in their work thats recognized in their background as well as their daily life. This is certainly true with Dr. Karen Otto-Sullivan. She first wanted to be a dentist when she was in fourth grade, and has worked in a dental office since she was sixteen years old.

She joined our practice in January, 2003 and has been recognized as one of the Harrisburg areas top dentists every year since 2013. Shes a native of Mechanicsburg and practices at our Elizabethtown office.

Dr. Karen graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Biology. She then moved across Pennsylvania to the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, where she graduated in the top 12 percent of her class and earned her DMD degree in 1997.

While at Temple, Dr. Otto-Sullivan was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honors Fraternity; which is an honor bestowed upon dental students of high character and superior scholarship by the faculty of the school. She also received the Alpha Omega Scholarship Award which is given to the student who had attained the highest scholastic standing for four years of dental study.

After graduation, Dr. Karen moved yet again to complete her one-year general practice residency with Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. This gave her the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all specialties of dentistry with dentists who were acclaimed experts in their field. Dr. Otto-Sullivan is now an acclaimed expert in her own right. Shes been caring for patients in Lancaster County for nearly twenty years.

I enjoy not only the technical aspect of dentistry but most importantly I enjoy the people Im taking care of and the relationships that were forming. Family is important to her; Dr. Otto-Sullivan and her husband Matt spend most of their time enjoying their two children.

Consistent with Lancaster Countyvalues, she gets to know her patients personally. One thing that she loves about her work is that every day, she gets to spend time with people-staff and patients- whom she considers friends and family.

Dr. Ngan was born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia. Having always grown up in university towns (both of her parents are professors!), she is pleased to be working so close to Elizabethtown College and its vibrant campus community.

She loves to work in the field of dental research as well as treat her family of dental patients. From theory to application! Tiffany started her journey towards dentistry with an undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College in psychology and neuroscience. This led her to a demanding job as a Project Coordinator in medical research. Being an avid lifelong student she then completed her Masters of Public Health degree at West Virginia University while working on a research project with the NIH (National Institutes of Health) to help explain the link between cognitive health and dental health. Working on this project really opened her eyes to the greater impact she might have on the dental health of others if she could get out from behind a desk and dive into helping those she cared about one on one. For this reason she returned to complete dental school at her beloved alma mater, West Virginia University School of Dentistry, which she shares with Dr. White.

In dental school Dr. Ngan was active with the American Student Dental Association and the Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity. She also served as chairman for the WVUs Rural Health Interest Group, a worthy altruism group which allowed students from all different medical fields to provide basic medical screening services and education to rural towns in southern West Virginia. Dr. Ngan has made it a lifelong goal to help all those she can to understand their own personal health and feel like their best-self.

Immediately upon earning his dental degree, Dr. Patterson served in the U.S. Navy at Pensacola Naval Air Station, where he underwent extensive post-doctoral training in Periodontics, Fixed and Removable Prosthetics, Oral Surgery and Forensic Dentistry. He served on the historic carrier, U.S.S. Lexington, and counted the elite Blue Angels flight demonstration team among his patients.

In private practice, Dr. Patterson aggressively pursued advanced training. Of particular note is his completion of the Continuum at the prestigious L.D. Pankey Institute. His commitment to remaining at the leading edge of his profession is unswerving.

A sufferer of Obstructive Sleep Apnea himself, Dr. Patterson used a CPAP machine for several years. As more and more clinical evidence of the effectiveness of oral appliance therapy became available, he decided to test an appliance himself. He was thrilled (as was Sarah!) and never looked back. He trained in Dental Sleep Medicine at the Pankey Institue and completed the Mastery Series with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He maintains active memberships with both organizations.

When asked what he enjoys most about his profession, Dr. Patterson replies, So many things, but two aspects above all: The wonderful relationships and friendships we are privileged to develop with our patients, and the fact that we can make life-changing differences in our patients lives.
