An orthodontist can help someone smile openly, someone who has always covered their mouth or intentionally prevented their grin from turning into a big smile. Treatment helps with public perception, attitude toward job interviews, approaching someone with romantic interest, and in so many other situations. It has been published that one of the things we notice when meeting someone new is their smile: Its important that your smile be big, healthy, and beautiful!

I truly enjoy helping people obtain the sensational smile they desire, and the increased self-confidence they get as a result of being happier about how they look. I know orthodontics made a huge difference for me when I was growing up with the Fangs and not wanting to smile fully.

It is a joy to work with people of all ages, each with their own story to share. I especially enjoy getting to know my patients and their families. Many families start in our practice with early interceptive treatment asa child and go through the teenage years with the full orthodontic treatment and then they do the same for other family members, both children and parents. So some families are part of our office for many years, being part of our lives as were part of theirs!

I have practiced orthodontics since 1993 and opened this practice in late 1994. I was inspired to join the profession while in junior high and undergoing orthodontic treatment myself. I had a good relationship with my orthodontist back in Lubbock: I watched him work with some of the other patients and saw the difference he made in their lives, and in mine.

I want our patients to have a great overall orthodontic experience and receive the best possible smile. Some of the new options can help provide these things and others cannot: I assess each development in terms of whether it is something I would want to give to my own family.

My wife Dana and I met and married in San Antonio, while I was attending dental school. She graduated from the nursing school located right next door, where she received her registered nursing degree. She worked as an RN for the first several years of our marriage, while I finished my education, and has since worked in our office.

Our son, Brad Leiker II, was born my senior year in dental school, in San Antonio. He grew up in The Woodlands, graduated from Texas A&M, and recently graduated from my same dental school. He has now joined my orthodontic practice and lives in Conroe.

Our daughter, Lauren Adams, was born the last year of my orthodontic residency, in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in architecture and married Chris Adams, who was a member of the Corp of Cadets and served with the Navy for several years. They now live in Conroe with their son and our first grandchild, Cole.

Dana and I have a dog, Vader, who has been part of the family for more than five years. He is a black RatChi: part Rat Terrier and part Chihuahua. He keeps us busy now that our human kids are grown and out of the house.

I grew up playing a lot of sports football, basketball, baseball, golf, and waterskiing. I still enjoy shooting baskets and playing golf. I also really enjoy traveling abroad. It is very exciting to explore other countries, learn about different cultures, and see so many beautiful areas.

I was attracted to dentistry, and then orthodontics, as respected fields with values of trust and integrity at their core. Its fulfilling to be able to dramatically change a persons appearance and/or health for the better, since this can have a lasting, positive change in their life: not many professions offer the opportunity to have that kind of impact on peoples lives.

I have practiced for several years now. I chose to go into oral healthcare because I grew up seeing the work my father, Dr. Brad Leiker Sr., does and realizing how it can dramatically better a persons life.

My orthodontic studies and training are ongoing. I complete many hours of continuing education through the American Orthodontic Society and the Texas Dental Association, and participate in study groups. My father is my primary mentor: constantly teaching and guiding me professionally, and ensuring I live up to his high standards in patient care.

Continuing education provides me with orthodontic knowledge gained through years of experience on what works in the real world and what doesnt. In almost every case, several treatment approaches can be used to deliver healthy, attractive results. The knowledge I gain from my mentors and the AOS focuses on customizing the safest, most effective approach for each person.

If Im not creating smiles, or reading the latest orthodontic journal, Im usually found golfing, exercising, or playing the guitar or drums. However, I do enjoy many other activities with my family and friends.

Ive worked in the field for years, having co-owned and managed an orthodontic practice in Michigan with my then-husband, who is an orthodontist. I loved the field and stayed in it! I have two beautiful children, Megan and Tyler, who have left the nest and now have children of their own, which makes me a grandmother to Mila and Charlotte. I never imagined that being a Granny would be so fulfilling! Along with children, I have two very loving Akitas who fill the empty nest. Animals are my passion and I pet-sit/house-sit on the side, just to enjoy more dogs!

Originally from the Midwest, Ive lived in Texas for about15 years. While I do miss the four seasons, I love living here! I have two boys, both of whom will be in college this fall. We are big sports fans: Go Hawkeyes! Go Cowboys! Go Astros! I like music, too, and enjoy going to local outdoor concerts or the Pavilion.
