When choosing a practice for your dental implant and periodontal needs, remember you deserve to be treated by experienced professionals who are focused on quality patient care and straightforward communication. You should expect a qualified and courteous team that respects your time and makes you a priority.

Hi! I am Dr. Lee Ann Hovious and I want to welcome you to my practice. I grew up in Madisonville, Kentucky, a small town in the western part of the state and I felt it was an excellent place to grow up. My family was very active in the community with school activities, community service as well as church functions. I was raised and taught to be helpful to others and to treat all mankind equal.

When I was 16-years old, I began working for a dentist in my hometown after school hours and in the summer, I loved it. I enjoyed the interaction with the patients and helping them achieve their dental goals. After graduating from high school, I attended the University of Kentucky. My parentsgraduated from UK, so I felt I would follow in their footsteps and I attended the University of Kentucky Dental Hygiene program. Upon completion, I practiced dental hygiene in private practice and also continued my education with a full-time pre-dentalcurriculum. Additionally, I taught at the University of Kentucky Dental Hygiene school part-time and I really enjoyed the teaching aspect.

With adental hygiene background, and a love for periodontics (the field dealing with the healthof gums and bone around the teeth), I went on to complete Dental School at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and Periodontal program at the University of Tennessee in Memphis for my post doctoralresidency.

There are two things I love the most about the Knoxville area, the people and the beauty of the area. My husband and I, with our two children, enjoy this area and all of the outdoor activities available such as swimming, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

Professionally, I am an active member of the Second District Association, Tennessee Dental Association, American Dental Association and the Academy of Periodontology. I am Board Certified-Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, which is the most advanced education and training that can be acquired in my profession. I have completed a one-year preceptorship in dental implants at the Health Science Center at the University of Texas, San Antonio, and received my fellowship at the Misch International Implant Institute in dental implants one of the top training facilities for dental implantology internationally. In addition, I am involved in community service such as student internship programs, volunteerfor Give Kids A Smile, and treat Interfaith Health Clinic patients.

I am avid student, as one can tell and continuing education helps me keep up with the rapid changes of the dental profession to provide my patients with the best knowledge and the latest technology and techniques that modern dentistry has to offer. In 2008 I was excited to start a local study club, the Oral Design & Implant Study Club, which is an affiliate of the prestigiously known Seattle Study Club. I washonored to be nominated in 2012 for the Tennessee Dentist of the Year and to be nominated and inducted into the honorary dental organizations: The International College of Dentistry,The American College of Dentistry and The Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Hello, I am Mona.I began working for Dr. Hovious in 1998. I originally applied for a position in the front office butafter talking with Dr. Hovious, she invested in my education and training and I became a Registered Dental Assistant.I received my dental assistant training through Tri-County Dental Society, which included instruction in operativedentistry and radiography. I also received training of clinical skills and knowledge personally from Dr. Hovious. While working with Dr. Hovious, I have had the opportunity to continue my education through many educational courses. It's very important for her and her team members to keep up with the most current dental technology and ideas to better serve our patients.

As a dental assistant, I want to be sensitive to our patient's needs and fears. I realize that coming to the dentist's office is not always something to look forward to. I do know I would like to help make that experience more comfortable and help relieve some of their fears. We always want to listen to what our patients desire and assist them in obtaining their dental health. Our patients may not realize that while we are providing a service for them, they are touching and affecting our lives in personal ways also. Iwill always treat our patients as l expect to be treated as a patient and provide quality care with a personal touch of caring.
