They are present to assist you in maneuvering your insurance benefits, financial options and any questions you may have regarding your dental care with us.
James C. Downs, DMD James C. Downs, DMD: Received his degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Since then, he is recognized as a key opinion leader. Dr. Downs is an expert in comprehensive restorative treatment. He currently lectures throughout the US and Europe for the Dr. Dick Barnes Group. In his spare time, he likes to go RVing, fish, golf and spends time with his kids.
Dr. Downs went into the field of dentistry to figure out how to help himself. At 16 years old, he was kneed in the jaw during a soccer game. The hit left him unconscious on the field and when he woke, he had two fractures on his jaw and two teeth missing. This trauma slowly deteriorated his other teeth through the years. Some of his teeth ended up dying and looking very dark. His jaw would periodically lock open. He went through many dental continual education courses to be able to find the best way to get his own teeth and bite restored. Dr. Downs is a very empathetic and caring dentist due to the experiences he has been through.
Nickie K. L, DDS: Received her degree from the Universtiy of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, Rocky Mountain Dental Association, American Academy of Facial Esthetics (AAFE). She also assists in teaching some of the courses for the Dr. Dick Barnes Group. Dr. L likes to sing, dance, travel and spends time with her kids.
Now that she is a dentist herself, she is much more cognitive of her patients needs and feelings. During her 20 plus years as a dentist, what she loves most is helping her patients reach their goal of ultimate oral health and owning a functional and dazzling smile.

Dr. Downs is the best. I've had extensive work done there (crowns, cleaning, etc), so had my wife, and he gave me a second opinion regarding work another dentist wants to do on my 9-year old son. There's no dentist I trust more!

Hien is a fabulous hygienist . She takes the time to not only educate me about good home care but she shows me HOW to do it correctly. I have gone to this practice for at least 20 years and plan on 20 more!

Dr Downs has the best bedside manner. He is gentle and patient to my 94 year old dad with Parkinson's disease and myself. He has been taking care of us for over 25 years. My dad still has all of his teeth due to Dr. Downs exceptional care!

I have been having my dental work done at LeDowns for years now. Without a doubt, Dr. Downs is the best dentist I have ever had. The office staff is incredible , always friendly and willing to help with any questions or concerns I have. I've had implant and bridgework and am currently moving towards 4 more implants and another bridge. I have the utmost trust in Dr. Downs and know that the experience will be stress free and the work performed will be absolute perfection. Thank you Dr. Downs and thank you LeDowns Team!

I went to LeDowns for years when I lived in the neighborhood. I always felt they were competent and caring. I had to change dentists recently because my new insurance isn't accepted by them. Unfortunately, my new dentist recently found many cavities, and I have had to get a crown (first time), root canal (first time) and had multiple cavities fixed since leaving LeDowns. I went to LeDowns because of the good reviews. My current dentist notes that most of these issues have been around for a while and should have been caught previously. He took pictures of my teeth so I can see for myself the discoloration, etc. The last time I was at LeDowns they were so busy I had to leave after the dental hygienist did my cleaning because I was already waiting an hour and needed to go back to work. I was always told that my teeth were fine but clearly, especially based on the pictures I saw recently, they were not. I have now spent $2,000+ to fix issues that LeDowns likely missed. I would be cautious going here as a new patient. At least my experience tells me that they don't do a great job finding subtle problems that aren't currently causing you pain. I would not recommend any of my family or friends go here.

Doctors Downs and Zalesky are excellent. LeDowns Dentistry is a full service dental practice that specializes in restorative treatment and Dr. Downs is highly skilled and knowledgeable. I started seeing Dr. Downs a few years ago when my dental issues became more complicated and required a higher degree of knowledge and specialization. With the aid of new dental technology and his years of experience and study, Dr. Downs is able to proactively diagnose problems before they become too overwhelming. I plan to continue seeing Dr. Downs for as long as possible. I wish I had been able to see Dr. Downs when my dental problems originated in my early teens, about 1980. If I had, I likely wouldn't have as many problems today. Now he spends a lot of time fixing problems that stem from my original dental and orthodontia work that, over time, have caused jaw alignment, tooth cracking and erosion, and root problems. LeDowns may be more expensive than other dental offices, but you get what you pay for. Dr. Downs has detected upcoming problems and was able to begin planning treatment before the problems occurred. Then when the problem did occur, he was ready to treat the whole problem rather than making a temporary fix. Since reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been using hospital-grade decontamination procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

I drive over 3 hours from Glenwood Springs to see Dr. Zalesky. He is caring, knowledgeable and efficient in his care of my dental concerns. Highly recommend him to take care of all your dental needs. He is fantastic!!
