Dr. Brett Lawton is a central Florida native, having been born and raised in Winter Park. He attended Winter Park High School and received his bachelors degree from Vanderbilt University in 1996. Dr. Lawton received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine with honors from the University of Kentucky in 2000 and completed his three-year residency in orthodontics at the University of Florida, where he earned a Master of Science for his research comparing traditional orthodontic treatment and Invisalign.
He served in several honorary leadership roles, including chief resident of his department. During his years of specialty training, he received extensive training in adult and pediatric orthodontic treatment, treatment of complex craniofacial anomalies, and contemporary orthodontic techniques, including advanced training with Invisalign.
Dr. Lawton resides in Orlando and is happily married to his wife Laura. They have three children: Annabelle, Lilly, and Jack. He is thrilled to be back home in central Florida where he enjoys all water sports. Dr. Lawton also enjoys playing guitar and fishing.
A fourth-generation Floridian, Dr. Tom Lawton has been in private practice in Winter Park since 1973. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine with honors from the University of Kentucky, and completed a hospital internship in Boston.
He served as senior dental officer at the U.S. Coast Guard base in Yorktown, Virginiabefore returning to the University of Kentucky for his orthodontic residency, where he also earned a Master of Science.
He has served on the part-time faculty at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, and is a past president of the Florida Association of Orthodontists. He is board certified and has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics since 1985.

From the front staff to the amazing group of assistants in the back, these are the best in the business. I never have to wait to be seen and seated. I brought my 10 year old son in for early intervention braces. The staff was very upbeat and friendly. They explained everything thoroughly, even to my son. They answered all of our questions and we never felt rushed. I was really pleased with this office and I definitely recommend them!

Staff was extremely friendly from the moment I walked into the door. I was referred to Dr.Lawton's office for a consultation for adult braces. Everyone made me feel comfortable from taking pictures of my smile to the consult with Cassie and Dr.Lawton whom are extremely knowledgeable. There was not question I was not able to get answered. I am looking forward to this journey with a great staff !

Staff did a great job making my daughter and I feel comfortable and heard. They address all questions we had and said if we had any after we left to email or call. Dr. Lawton was very informative with how treatment would go. Cassie was so sweet and really made my daughter feel included in all conversations. Dr. B, his front office team, and the entire orthodontist assistants are the friendliest, knowledgeable professionals ever! They (Thanks to Susan - patient care coordinator) took my daughter in without any questions for an emergency brace fix, where none of the nearby orthos agreed to check her unless we have a referal from a dentist. We are just 5 days new to Florida, and don't have a dentist yet. Although there were a lot of patients, there is surprisingly NO wait time - whatsoever. The office is extremely clean, social distanced seating, and they made sure everyone follows the 'Masks On' policy. Our family will be with Lawton Orthodintics for as long as it is needed for our kids. Thank you EVERYONE!

Every staff member I have met at Lawton has been wonderful. The office is clean, no waiting long periods before appointments, and everyone is so friendly. Margaret took special care to make sure my son's first braces application went smooth. She could tell he was nervous and made a point to come sit and talk with him in the lobby to make sure he felt comfortable. She took great care of my son and when he finished he had the biggest smile!

Staff was very friendly, attentive, and especially accommodating when I moved out of state after graduation. I'm only leaving two stars because I'm unhappy with the final product after my Invisalign treatment. In the final photo, you can see that my bite on one side was off. On my last visit, I raised this concern and also said that one of my front teeth was slightly tucked behind another. This was right when offices had reopened after COVID. The doctor and technicians didn't listen and were clearly rushing me out of the office, eager to have me finished with treatment. My teeth were MUCH straighter and looked better after Invisalign, but I don't feel like the treatment was complete when it comes to the bite.

I highly recommend Lawton Orthodontics to anyone who is thinking about Invisalign or any other orthodontic treatment. I just finished my 33 month Invisalign treatment today. I am actually going to miss going to the office regularly. The entire staff- Dr. B, the assistants, and the coordinators all make you feel so welcome and like family. I experienced absolutely no issues during my treatment or during any of my visits, and they let me have a say in my own treatment, which I greatly appreciated. Again, I can't recommend this practice enough!
