Dr. Brett Lawton is a central Florida native, having been born and raised in Winter Park. He attended Winter Park High School and received his bachelors degree from Vanderbilt University in 1996. Dr. Lawton received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine with honors from the University of Kentucky in 2000 and completed his three-year residency in orthodontics at the University of Florida, where he earned a Master of Science for his research comparing traditional orthodontic treatment and Invisalign.
He served in several honorary leadership roles, including chief resident of his department. During his years of specialty training, he received extensive training in adult and pediatric orthodontic treatment, treatment of complex craniofacial anomalies, and contemporary orthodontic techniques, including advanced training with Invisalign.
Dr. Lawton resides in Orlando and is happily married to his wife Laura. They have three children: Annabelle, Lilly, and Jack. He is thrilled to be back home in central Florida where he enjoys all water sports. Dr. Lawton also enjoys playing guitar and fishing.
A fourth-generation Floridian, Dr. Tom Lawton has been in private practice in Winter Park since 1973. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine with honors from the University of Kentucky, and completed a hospital internship in Boston.
He served as senior dental officer at the U.S. Coast Guard base in Yorktown, Virginiabefore returning to the University of Kentucky for his orthodontic residency, where he also earned a Master of Science.
He has served on the part-time faculty at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, and is a past president of the Florida Association of Orthodontists. He is board certified and has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics since 1985.
