Born and raised in Morehead City, North Carolina, Dr. Lawrence graduated from West Carteret High School in 1994. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from North Carolina State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and concentration in the Pre-Med and Pre-Dental curriculum. He was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society and a member of the fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, where he served as secretary. In 2002, Dr. Lawrence graduated from the University of North Carolinas School of Dentistry where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) with honors. While at the University he received the North Carolina Board of Governors Dental Scholarship and was the senior recipient of the Academy of Operative Dentistrys Award of Excellence.
Dr. Lawrence graduated from the Triangle Dental Institutes Dental Implant Continuum in 2016. This training focused on dental implant surgery and hard and soft tissue adjunctive procedures. In 2016 he attended the Dominican Implant Institutes overseas mission trip. He performed dental implant related surgeries for citizens of San Pedro, Dominican Republic.
Dr. Lawrence is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Fifth District Dental Society, and the Carteret County Dental Society. He is also affiliated with the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) where he is a recent recipient of fellowship status.
Dr. Lawrences continuing education continuums include The Dawson Academy and The Spear Institute. Additionally, he has received training at the Planmeca University in the areas of CAD/CAM Indirect Dentistry, digital dentistry, and 3D CBCT radiology.
Dr. Lawrence is involved in civic organizations and supports our local schools. He is a member of Ocean Lodge #405 of Ancient Free Accepted Masons. He is an active board member of F3 Carterico, a small mens workout group emphasizing Faith, Fellowship and Fitness. He is a past board member of the Craven County Electric Cooperative and past member of the Carteret County Noon Rotary. In 2010, Dr. Lawrence served as the Chairman for the North Carolina Seafood Festival Board.
Dr. Lawrence, his wife Sarah, and their four children attend First United Methodist Church. While away from the office, his interests include spending weekends with his family and working out with his F3 Mens Group, running, rucking, and traveling.
Dental Hygienist Marisa grew up in New Jersey and moved to North Carolina in 2015. She has been a dental hygienist since 1993, with 22 years of experience in a pediatric specialist practice. Marisa graduated from Middlesex County College with an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene. When she is not busy at Lawrence Family Dentistry, Marisa enjoys spending time outside with her two dogs.
Dental Hygienist Barbora graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College with an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene and has been a dental hygienist for 10 years. She has lived in Carteret County for 15 years and has 2 children. In her free time, Barbora enjoys exercising and spending time with her family and her dog.
Dental Assistant Toni has been a chairside assistant for Dr. Lawrence since 2002 and has over 30 years of experience. She is certified through the Dental Assisting National Board and also the Triangle Dental Institute of Implantology. She is a member of the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries through the ICOI. She has been a resident of Carteret County since 2002. Toni and her husband, Edsel, have a daughter, Amanda. Toni is a wine enthusiast, and her hobbies include her cats and cooking.
Financial and Insurance Coordinator Vicki, who is originally from Kentucky, has lived in the Morehead City area for over 25 years. She graduated from Morehead State University with an Associates Degree in Music Education. Vicki has a genuine desire to serve patients and to provide opportunities to complete needed treatment through knowledge of available payment options and patient insurance. She continues her education by taking classes for dental coding and billing procedures. Vicki and her husband David have five children and eight grandchildren. Her hobbies include playing music, spending time with her family and beloved dog, Buddy.
Administrative Assistant/Scheduling Coordinator Angie has been with Lawrence Family Dentistry since 2011. She has been a resident of Carteret County for 35 years. She is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Angie lives in Morehead City with her husband, Neal, and daughter, Mary Neal. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, two dogs, exercising, and boating.

Recently had my first visit with them and it was excellent. Very professional from Angie at check in, Marisa who did my cleaning, to Denny coming in and explaining everything putting my mind at ease. Loved the Music variety and the TV to take my mind off of the stress of a dental visit.

It was my first time seeing Dr. Lawrence and I'm so happy I chose his office. He was fantastic and made me feel very comfortable. Barbara my hygienist was wonderful as were all the staff.

As a Dentist myself I am extremely aware of the fact that all Dentist are not the same . I had the good fortune of attending The Triangle Implant institute with Denny were we were trained in advanced implant techniques. Denny has sense helped me with a old crown that needed replacement and did a beautiful job. His team is excellent and professional. I will be returning for my future dental care and would recommend him to anyone in area.

I'm not going to lie, I was a bit a nervous for my girls (ages 4 and 2) first dentist appointment here. This would be my 4 year olds second experience and my 2 year olds first visit with a dentist. When I called to schedule the appointments, Vicki was very pleasant to speak with over the phone and we got scheduled right away! Upon entering, I noticed how clean and relaxing it was. The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. We didn't wait very long before getting called back; which is a huge bonus when waiting with children. Marisa, the dental hygienist, led the girls to the exam room and right away I noticed how well the girls responded to her. She spoke soothingly and was very engaging-the girls trusted her. Marisa made it fun for them. Dr. Lawrence took his time to examine each child and I love how relatable he is as a parent. To wrap things up, Marisa let each girl pick out a toothbrush, gave them sparkly toothpaste, and a pick of a toy from the toy box. They were thrilled and already looking forward to their next visit. Thank you so much Lawrence Family Dentistry!

Amazing office. The staff are wonderful and friendly. The hygienist and dentist are gentle but thorough! They are a small office, but have all the equipment and services the large offices have. We feel blessed to have found them when we started looking for a local dentist after moving Down East.
