Lavista Park Family Dentistry is a private, family-owned practice that hears our patients. We have been serving the local dental community since 1980s. Dr. JD Desai and our team are committed to not only providing excellent service but also delivering compassionate care focused on the individual. Dr. Desai obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the esteemed New York University College of Dentistry. He then went on to pursue advanced education at Woodhull Medical Center/NYU in Brooklyn, New York. After practicing in Washington, DC, for six years Dr. Desai returned to Snellville, Georgia, to serve the area where he grew up and to be closer to his family. His wife is currently a dental student at the VCU School of Dentistry, and his brother practices Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Desai believes in lifelong learning and staying up to date with new changes in dentistry. He has accumulated over 500 continuing education hours, way above minimal requirements to make sure his patients receive the highest standard of care.
With over 12 years of experience in clinical dentistry, Dr. Desai believes in developing long-term relationships with his patients and bettering their overall health and well-being. He offers his help with community programs such as Free Dental Day and Veterans Health Day, and he volunteers at Mission of Mercy programs. In his spare time, he enjoys riding bikes, concerts, traveling, playing guitar and table tennis.
Taphie Toland has been a registered dental hygienist since 2000. She is originally from North Georgia but enjoys the city of Atlanta, where she has lived for over 20 years. She attended Kennesaw State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree, as well as Clayton State University, where she received her dental hygiene degree. Taphie is a member of the Atlanta Dental Hygienists Society. She uses a unique combination of skill, patience and knowledge to help patients improve their oral health. You can expect fun, quality and individualized care from Taphie based on your specific needs in a relaxed, mood-lighted environment.
Pam was born in Gainesville, Georgia. She lived in Cornelia, Georgia, until she moved to Glencoe, Alabama, in 1967. She remained there until she graduated from Glencoe High School. Pam went on to attend the University of Alabama in Birmingham from 1980-1982 where she received her Dental Hygiene License.
Pam moved back to Georgia in 1986 where she worked as a dental assistant until 1992. She attended Lanier Technical Institute from 1992-1994, where she received her Georgia Dental Hygiene License in 1994.
Betty has been in the dental field over 25 years. Betty enjoys meeting new people and helping them with their dental needs. In her spare time, she enjoys selling real estate and spending time with her three grandchildren and family. She also enjoys traveling and the beach.
