Dr. Michael Contardo, DDS, attended the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry where he obtained his DDS degree in 1978. In 1979, Dr. Contardo opened his practice in St. Joseph, Minnesota. He has studied extensively with Dental lasers and has a Fellowship in the prestigious Academy of General Dentistry. With over 42 years of practicing dentistry, hes gotten pretty good at it. All kidding aside, the greatest joy comes from the deep relationships that have developed over the years with his clients. Dentistry is a means to helping people on many levels.
Dr. Contardo has four children, nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.His interests include mountain biking, artisan bread baking, reading, hiking, snowboarding, camping and fly fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dr. Contardo is active in the community. He is a member of the institutional review board at the College of St. Benedict/St. Johns University and is a member of the committee for St. Joseph Downtown Development.He is also a supporter of the CSB/SJU fine arts programming that brings many diverse and interesting artists/performers to central Minnesota.
Sondrahas been a Registered & Certified Dental Assistant since 1992. She has been working with Dr. Contardo since 1997, following five years of employment with a Pediatric Dentist in Rochester, Minnesota. She continues to enjoy working with children.
As a Registered Dental Assistant, Sondra has expanded functions that allow her to do X-Rays, impressions, clean childrens teeth, make provisional crowns, and perform teeth whitening using the Zoom System. Assisting Dr. Contardo is a big part of Sondras job. She is always making sure that the patient is comfortable and that their needs are met during and after treatment.
Erika started her dental assisting career in Mountain Home Arkansas in 2008. Erika moved to Minnesota in 2010 & worked as a dental assistant. She received her certification & license for a dental assistant in MN & has worked for Dr. Contardo since October 2020.Erika enjoys traveling to the west coast with her 6 children.
Kimstarted working with Dr. Contardo in 2018. She graduated from St. Cloud Technical College in 2010 with an AAS degree in Dental Hygiene. Kim grew up in Duluth, MN and has lived in the St. Cloud area for 23 years.
KCwent to St. Cloud State University where she obtained her Bachelor's degree. During this time she worked at a nursing home and found her love for working with both patients and teeth. She continued on to obtain her dental hygiene license.

I visited this dentist a year ago and got a couple of fillings, everything went fine and I gave a great review for that. However, the dentist failed to tell me that I had 2 additional cavities which I had no symptoms of any cavity. The reason I'm back giving another review is because those 2 teeth that now have cavities, were the 2 teeth he had to grind down to fit the bite properly for the below bottom teeth that he fixed. I'm highly disappointed as this is costing me a great deal of money to have fixed, at a new dentist. I initially recommend this place to others but will be definitely letting others know my experience. As for the dentist, yes he's kind and gentle but he needs to be forthcoming with EVERYTHING going on.

I'm a new patient at Laser Dentistry and my first appointment was phenomenal! Dr. Contardo noticed me in the waiting room and stopped by to say hello before it started. The entire staff are kind and personable. Scheduling was easy with good communication and the cleaning was quick and painless. I don't usually say this about dentists, but I can't wait to go back.

Very thorough and competent. Not pushing treatments like other dentists I've used. The laser is real - i had a broken tooth with decay repaired with no Novocain and no pain at all. Very fast, No traditional drilling at all, just some final bugging and polishing with traditional dentist tools.

Amazing Experience! Should be 10 stars I was referred to Dr Contardo by a very good friend. I recently had a tooth filled at another office, that had fractured and about half was left. I had a second tooth that broke about a year previous that I was reluctant to have fixed due to previous experience with crowns. My consult went well and I learned that Dr Contardo could do most of the tooth remodeling with his special dental laser. He explained it should be relatively painless. My entire procedure was COMPLETELY painless. Both teeth were remodeled with his laser and excellent skills. Temporary crowns were placed, part of my gum had to be removed with the laser to accept the crown, and nothing hurt in the least. He said to expect some sensitivity afterwards, but there was none - unlike my previous two crowns, done elsewhere, that were sensitive for several days afterwards. All of his staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. I received a followup call to see how I was doing afterwards. Like I said - my experience there was amazing - painless! I would recommend Dr Contardo to anyone looking for dental care. His skills and excellent bedside manner were beyond all of my expectations!

Dr. Contardo and his staff are absolutely amazing. They are so adaptable and patient with the needs of adults and children. Unfortunately, the laser was not pain-free for me, as it is for others. I was not able to have the great experience in that department as I was hoping for. I wanted to avoid numbing and drills. But that is because my teeth are very sensitive. Overall, this is a wonderful place and they TRULY care about your comfort!!

Lazer Dentistry is the best dental office I have ever been to. Dr. M. Contardo takes much pride in the caring and professional manner with his patients. I would recommend his practice. I have been going to Laser Dentistry for a few years now. Every time Dr. Contardo and his staff have been EXCELLENT. Everyone is very professional, friendly, and they care about you and your comfort. The cleanings and crown work that they did for me was with the least amount of pain than I would have ever expected. They also did Laser treatments (SOLEA SLEEP) to help open my throat to minimize my snoring and and get a better night sleep. It has been fantastic. I now wake up feeling rested and with more energy. The procedure was painless and quick. Dr. Contardo, you and your Team are AWESOME. Thank you!

I have been using Laser Dentistry for several years now. They are all friendly and considerate. Dr. Contardo does not push procedures on to his patients. He takes the time to explain the current situation of the tooth/teeth, the likely consequences of not addressing the problem, and the benefits of the procedures. Then the decision is completely up to the patient. I have had five fillings using the laser and did not use any numbing agent (some may want it). It is much more comfortable then the standard drill fillings. If you are looking for a new dentist, or are usually uncomfortable with dentist visits, check this one out.
