In addition to our collective training and experience, Dr. Young and the Larry Young Dental team complete many hours of continuing education each year to keep skills sharp and staying on the cutting edge of dental techniques and procedures.
Dr. Young was born in Beaufort, South Carolina, lived in Hampton, South Carolina, and in 1969, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University. He attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1973. After spending two years working as a dentist in the U.S. Army Dental Corp in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where, in 1975, he opened Larry Young Dental his private practice offering general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry.
Dr. Young has been active in organized dentistry, serving as President of the Jacksonville Dental Society from 1990 - 1991. He also served as an adjunct assistant clinical professor at the University of Florida College of Dentistry from 1990 - 2003 in the undergraduate clinics department of Fixed Prosthodontics. He has had training at the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida, where he is a member of their alumni association.
Dr. Young is also a member of the Jacksonville Dental Society, Northeast District Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Alpha Omega dental fraternity.
Dr. Young is currently serving on the Board of Directors at Florida State University Jacksonville for the schools of dental assisting and dental hygiene. He is on staff at River Garden Hebrew home for the aged, and was recently recognized in Jacksonville Magazine as one of the 'Top 100 Dentists.'
He is married to Jacksonville resident, Barbara Mendelson Young. Together they have four children and 10 grandchildren. His father- in-law, Max Mendelson, was in a general dental practice in Jacksonville for over 50 years. Dr. and Mrs. Youngs son, Dr. Brian Young, is a local periodontist. The family is proud to have three generations provide dental care in the Jacksonville area.
Dr. Young maintains a full time practice in general and cosmetic restorative dentistry. Treating friends, who happen to be his patients, is his passion. When he is not helping patients with beautiful healthy smiles, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, exercising, attending Gator and Jaguar football games, and relaxing at the beach.
Amy joined our team in 2016 and has been in the Dental field since 1999. Her favorite part of her job is the chance to help patients regain their confidence and smile! Amy grew up in Honolulu, HI and attended Dental Assisting school at Pearl Harbor Naval base. Amy is married to her husband Rory and they have 3 children Ethan, Noah, and McKenzie. When she is away from the office you can find her at the ballpark, the beach, or completing home DIY projects!
While Cheryl may be a relatively new addition to our team, her career in the dental field spans well over 20 years so far. Originally from Indianapolis, she attended both Indiana University and Purdue University for her education. Today, what she enjoys most about her work is an easy answer the wonderful people! Outside of work, she is married and has a daughter in college. When she isnt busy at the office, her favorite hobby is traveling. Heres an interesting fact about her: in 30 years, shes owned 42 (!) different cars.
Rachael has worked in the dental field since 2011. Rachaels love and passion for dentistry comes across in her knowledge and care that she takes with each individual patient. When Rachael isnt working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and being a new mommy to her son, Declan. She and her husband enjoy all outdoor activities, especially fishing on the beach with their two dogs.
Julieann joined our team in 2019 and has been in the dental field since 2010. She began her dental career as a part-time Sterilization Tech, while completing her A.S. for Dental Assisting at Concord College. Julieann is truly thankful for having found a great dental family to work with everyday and she enjoys seeing the difference that great dentistry can make in a persons life. In her spare time, Julieann likes to spend time with her family and friends. She also stays very active at her local gym.

This is by far the best dental practice I've ever been a part of. I started here years ago when in college, I then married into the Navy life. Because of this I've had to change dentists many times... NONE compare to the service and respect you will get at this office! Happy to be back in Jax with the best!

This review is about my recent dental hygienist visit at Larry Young's office located at 4487 Baymeadows Rd...in a word it was outstanding. The office is an extraordinarily clean and safe workspace...tons of parking spaces I'm a patient with gum issues requiring quarterly visits. Dr. Young has been helping patients like me achieve the best possible dental outcomes so that I may retain my natural teeth. I'm pushing 80 years old and have been going to him for all my dental services for over 20 years ...fillings, implants, teeth whitening, caps, etc you name it he does it. Dr. Young takes pride in providing the absolute best services for patients like me. How he achieves his outstanding result is by maintaining a professional staff that stays with him year after year. He ensures that I'm happy with the service by stopping by and having a quick chat about what went on...he gets feedback from me and the hygienist...he always makes sure I'm following his dental routine in my teeth cleaning habits...on this visit, he reminded me that I should be using "PreviDent, an Rx toothpaste product to help with receding gum disease and dry mouth issues. I want to thank Dr. Young and his staff for the services they provide my family. FJG
