Lane & Associates Family Dentistry – Sanford Horner - General dentist in Sanford, NC

As much as I would like to consider myself a Southerner, technically I am a Yankee. I was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1953 and lived with my father and grandmother for a few years before being whisked off by my mother to Englewood, California. It was here where my mother met my step-father, a North Carolina native, hence how I eventually found myself in lovely Fuquay-Varina.

My childhood had its ups and downs. We moved around a lot which led me to attend over 10 different schools. I do feel like these experiences molded me into the person I am today, being able to adjust and adapt quickly.

The terms Southern Charm and Southern Hospitality quickly became very real to me. Living in Fuquay-Varina, I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. The last few years of high school were my favorite. Senior Class President and leading the High School football team as their captain are some of my fondest memories. Being rooted in FVHS gave me many opportunities and opened many doors. I was a Beta Club member, karate student, Morehead Scholar nominee and so much more.

Phyllis and I set off for Chapel Hill, working hard, as we began our married life together with our sights set on either Medical School or Dental School. This was back in the day where physicians still made house calls and worked long hours at the hospital (yes, I am that old). However, we wanted a family life, so after much thought, we decided on Dentistry and never looked back. This was the 3rd best decision of my life.

In 1975, as I applied to dental school, I had my heart set on UNC, the number one dental school in the country. I did not expect to get in, but I wanted it! Phyllis and I had fallen in love with Carolina. I also applied to Georgetown and Emory as back-ups. Not even thinking about the burden of cost. My mind was blown when I was accepted to all three schools. Obviously, I was very excited. So, another decision had to be madewhere do I go? I loved UNC and the history we had already created there. However, I had fallen in love with Georgetown and its campus and of course the proximity to D.C. The realization of life kicked in when I found out the cost of Georgetown. I knew that I could not afford it. I came from a very poor family and Phyllis, though from a lovely middle-class Southern family, would not have been able to help. UNC being of the cost of the other two schools. the decision was easy. In August of 1976, I began my journey of becoming a dentist.

It has always been important to me to be able to both diagnose and treat patients. I love being able to make people feel better; whether is it is making them laugh, performing surgical procedures, or simply making them feel more confident with their smile.

In 1980 we opened our first practice in Fuquay- Varina, NC. We loved being able to bring quality dentistry to small townsso we kept goingand going! Eventually adding multiple offices to the Triangle area. I am proud to say that we currently have 39+ general practices and 10 specialty practices.

I love animals. I often find myself picking up turtles off the road or rescuing birds down at Emerald Ise. However, dogs are my absolute favorite. My most recent pup, Max, was actually found under the buildings of one of our old dental offices. I am addicted to Diet Rite and love a good cigar.

Dr. Don Lanegraduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 1980, following obtaining a degree at UNC in Chemistry from 1972 to 1976. He and his wife Phyllis opened their first Lane & Associates dental practice in Fuquay-Varina, NC in 1980.

Dr. Lane is a member of the ADA, the NC Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry from whom he has received the Prestiges Fellowship Award. Dr. and Mrs. Lane have two children, Ashley and Jessie, and four grandchildren.

The "elvira"-looking receptionist trash-talked every patient behind their back after she got off the phone with them. She had a snarky comment for every single one and was goofing off with the other lady. I was surprised how unprofessional she was while within earshot of the patients in the waiting room. She's clearly to young and immature to handle being a receptionist or to provide quality customer service.

My cleaning was done by the most amazing woman!! Her name is Rosa C. and when I say she is my experience I mean it! I was traumatized by a dentist there and she helped me switch the provider and everything! she's the reason I kept coming back!!!

Absolutely the WORST dentists office in Sanford. Avoid! They do not treat patients after waiting months to be seen. They lie about calling to confirm appointments and just take them off the schedule. Even when in the office, out of 4 children they filled one cavity that fell out the same day, when I took the child back to address it the berated my child and said the filling was fine and that they were just booked for a cleaning. The other children who had a treatment plan and were scheduled for fillings they never even touched a tooth. Made excuses referred us to other dentists for filling and cancelled appointments without any notification. Their front office staff is rude and lack the knowledge to do their job. They file insurance incorrectly or not at all. They put the responsible party as one of my children for the other children and refused to change it. They change the treatment plans between visits. They don't record cleanings and just keep booking cleanings visit after visit. The list goes on and on. Save yourself the trouble and seek another office. This place was a nightmare!

GET A SECOND OPINION! Went here for a tooth cleaning and then they said how they found a huge cavity they needed to be taken care of . In a place where I wouldn't be able to see in a mirror at home . Gave me a price and all to take care of it . Went and got a second opinion and pictures taken . THERE WAS NO CAVITIES! They would of drilled into my teeth and destroy them for a few hundred dollars. NEVER will I ever go back here . Do not bring them your business there's no telling how many teeth they have drilled into with nothing wrong !

Now I have to travel outside my city (if I am even able to) for a dentist that will accommodate my health insurance. This place sucks

My son has had a appointment every month for 3 month to have a tooth extracted. The doctor never shows up they keep rescheduling. This extraction has been paid for. Now I have asked for my refund. I guess it will take me 3 more months to get my refund. You better believe I will not stop until I get my refund . Maybe they are okay for cleaning but nothing else.

This dentistry is TRASH!!! From Sanford to Raleigh. Pure TRASH!!!! They don't offer emergency services and the dentist didn't even care how much pain you're in! I had to drive all the way to Fayetteville for emergency services!

I had a tooth filled back in Oct or Nov of 2021. She drilled down to the nerve and told me she did then filled it. The doctor said I would have trouble with it or I may not. Well guess what? It is now 3/9/22 and I have been having ear aches since. I was just able to get the tooth removed 3/3/22 by an oral surgeon. I was given antibiotics twice by her the ear ache left but came back was my meds were gone. I fired it had to be something worse maybe a dry socket and that is no fun at all. I now have to go back to the oral surgeon to fix what she did. Possibly close the socket so my ear will stop hurting. I feel if you went to school and learned all these skills why keep referring patients out because you"don't feel comfortable"? The doctor may only be good for cleanings but she won't even get my service for that. Don't go to a franchise for dental care I feel your just another number go to someone skilled and knows what they are doing and can do everything in office not refer refer refer!!!

The people from the time you walk in the door to the time you walk out are all very professional, very courteous and explain to you in detail what your treatment options are. They give you options so you can decide what is best for you and your finances that also will be the best for your medical well-being.

Terrible needed wisdom teeth removed was in pain a procedure that only takes half an hour couldn't get scheduled for surgery until four months out. Do not go here go elsewhere had my wisdom teeth pull by another oral surgeon that done as a work in because I was in pain the same day I saw him.

I had a beyond pleasant experience. I was nervous but they made me feel comfortable. They made sure I didn't experience pain and they took care of everything so I wouldn't have to make a separate appointment.
