As much as I would like to consider myself a Southerner, technically I am a Yankee. I was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1953 and lived with my father and grandmother for a few years before being whisked off by my mother to Englewood, California. It was here where my mother met my step-father, a North Carolina native, hence how I eventually found myself in lovely Fuquay-Varina.
My childhood had its ups and downs. We moved around a lot which led me to attend over 10 different schools. I do feel like these experiences molded me into the person I am today, being able to adjust and adapt quickly.
The terms Southern Charm and Southern Hospitality quickly became very real to me. Living in Fuquay-Varina, I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. The last few years of high school were my favorite. Senior Class President and leading the High School football team as their captain are some of my fondest memories. Being rooted in FVHS gave me many opportunities and opened many doors. I was a Beta Club member, karate student, Morehead Scholar nominee and so much more.
Phyllis and I set off for Chapel Hill, working hard, as we began our married life together with our sights set on either Medical School or Dental School. This was back in the day where physicians still made house calls and worked long hours at the hospital (yes, I am that old). However, we wanted a family life, so after much thought, we decided on Dentistry and never looked back. This was the 3rd best decision of my life.
In 1975, as I applied to dental school, I had my heart set on UNC, the number one dental school in the country. I did not expect to get in, but I wanted it! Phyllis and I had fallen in love with Carolina. I also applied to Georgetown and Emory as back-ups. Not even thinking about the burden of cost. My mind was blown when I was accepted to all three schools. Obviously, I was very excited. So, another decision had to be madewhere do I go? I loved UNC and the history we had already created there. However, I had fallen in love with Georgetown and its campus and of course the proximity to D.C. The realization of life kicked in when I found out the cost of Georgetown. I knew that I could not afford it. I came from a very poor family and Phyllis, though from a lovely middle-class Southern family, would not have been able to help. UNC being of the cost of the other two schools. the decision was easy. In August of 1976, I began my journey of becoming a dentist.
It has always been important to me to be able to both diagnose and treat patients. I love being able to make people feel better; whether is it is making them laugh, performing surgical procedures, or simply making them feel more confident with their smile.
In 1980 we opened our first practice in Fuquay- Varina, NC. We loved being able to bring quality dentistry to small townsso we kept goingand going! Eventually adding multiple offices to the Triangle area. I am proud to say that we currently have 39+ general practices and 10 specialty practices.
I love animals. I often find myself picking up turtles off the road or rescuing birds down at Emerald Ise. However, dogs are my absolute favorite. My most recent pup, Max, was actually found under the buildings of one of our old dental offices. I am addicted to Diet Rite and love a good cigar.
Dr. Don Lanegraduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 1980, following obtaining a degree at UNC in Chemistry from 1972 to 1976. He and his wife Phyllis opened their first Lane & Associates dental practice in Fuquay-Varina, NC in 1980.
Dr. Lane is a member of the ADA, the NC Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry from whom he has received the Prestiges Fellowship Award. Dr. and Mrs. Lane have two children, Ashley and Jessie, and four grandchildren.
Through their 5 point system based on reputation, credibility, experience, availability and professionalism, Lane & Associates gained top ranking in the Best Dentists in Raleigh category for a second year.
Lane & Associates Family Dentistry became the Official Team Dentist of The Carolina Hurricanes! Dr. Don Lane, Dr. Don Bailey, and Dr. Raleigh Wright attend games and assist players as Team Dentists for the Carolina Hurricanes NHL Hockey Team.

Dr Aziz and Dr Bailey and the whole entire staff on Wake Forest Road is absolutely magnificent wonderfully professional absolutely kind in every way on every level they are the best at Lane Associates and I wouldn't go to another office if you paid me to get treatment they are the best

Dr. Aziz is awesome. He put in 4 crowns that look better than my original teeth ever did. Tess is right beside him taking super care of me and I absolutely love my smile!

I would give Dr.Bailey a thousand stars if I could. I've never been more comfortable in a dentist chair in my life. He is so personable and informative. He explained every move he made and made sure I wasn't in pain the whole time. I will NEVER see another dentist as long as I live and of course as long as he is in practice. =]

I had a appointment today 9/8/22. at this office in Raleigh at 2pm. I live close to two hours away. The address link the receptionist sent to my Iphone. I input into the GPS on my iPhone. It took me to a animal hospital in Durham 30 minutes out my way on Wake forest HWY. So I call them and she try to make it seem like I put the address in wrong. When all I did was click on the linked address she text me. I never manually input the address. Just only the link that was sent. So I ended up not being seen and wasted a full tank of gas. No apologies no nothing. Cause the dentist wouldn't see me after it went past my appointment time. I don't even want them to touch my mouth just based off they lack of empathy or professionalism, I'm still double checking the link currently at 10:56 pm. she sent to me and it's still converting into WAKE FOREST HWY INSTEAD OF WAKE FOREST RD. courtesy would of been to see me anyway even if I had to wait longer. Especially when I'm paying 160.00 copay. Wasted my time and my day. Sincerely, Rasheeda.

I went against my better judgement and tried Lane and Associates. I needed three fillings. I got my treatment plan and costs...paid it in full for two fillings. Got hit with another $400 bill saying my insurance didn't pay. So, nobody informed me? On top of that, my teeth were drilled down too much and I'm dealing with pain every time I chew on my left side. The dentist even changed the shape of my tooth from drilling it down. I'm livid! I was told to pay down the $400 and they'll complete the last cooking. They will never touch my mouth again! Don't go here.

I had two issues 1. They called on Friday to cancel our families 5 appointments on Tuesday. Then they called on Monday to confirm Tuesday's appointments. Then after I conformed, they said they could only do 3 people on Tuesday. At the office they had a cancellation and were able to add a 4th person. They scheduled the 5th person for that Friday. They called on Wednesday and we did not respond until Thursday. When we called on Thursday they had already cancelled our Friday appointment because we didn't call them back fast enough. We stood in their office on Tuesday to make the appointment. They cancelled it the next day because we didn't call them back fast enough. 2. I had given them all of my insurance information before we arrived. They wanted to charge me for x-rays for my kids. I had to educate them that most major medical plans cover preventive care for children under 19. This has been a law since 2014. Have they never had any children clients before mine? I showed them that it was covered and then they proceeded to charge me for sealants instead of x-rays. Sealants are covered for children as well. I suspect they make more if they charge a consumer than the insurance company. It seems to be all about getting the extra dollar any way they can. It's frustrating to pay for insurance and then having to fight with the dentist office to do the right thing.

Dr. Bailey and Ms. Barbara are the sweetest and so gentle. I was terrified because I have sensitive teeth. I was so worried walking in. They were nothing less than wonderful. Also being open on Saturdays really helps with my work schedule.

Awesome dentist awesome staff especially Tonya! Have been to many Lane associates location and by far this is the location that's treated me the best!!!! Very friendly, accommodating and felt like their only concern is that I feel comfortable throughout my treatment.

My son had to receive 4 root canals and I called and brought him here to meet with Tonya and Dr Curry and I cannot tell it loudly enough how pleased we were. The process was above and beyond our expectations and even though it is never good to have to get that much work done they were rockstars! Thanks to them both!
