Dr. Alexis Shrager grew up in Russia and movedto Jacksonville, Florida in the mid 90s at age 15. Her passion for quality orthodontics began at an early age when she herself received interceptive orthodontic treatment. After moving to the UnitedStates, Dr. Shrager completed her Accelerated Early Dental Admission program with the University of Florida and University of North Florida and went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2003 from Nova Southeastern University School of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.During her training at Nova, she was presented with numerous achievement awards and acknowledgements.She graduated at the top of her dental class and was the youngest one among her dentist peers.
After graduating from Nova South Eastern University Dental School, Dr. Shrager completed her residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she received her Certificate of Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2006. The UPMC hospital-based residency provided Dr Shrager with extensive training in management and treatment of orthognathic, surgical, and Cleft Lip and Palate patients.
Dr. Shrager has continuously maintained the prestigious status of a Diplomate of American Board of Orthodontics for her entire orthodontic career.Based on her training, Dr. Shrager enjoys treating complicated, multidisciplinary, surgical and cosmetic cases. She attends numerous continuing education courses and participates in Raleigh Wake study clubs.
Dr. Shrager believes strongly in giving back to our community by sponsoring and participating in fundraising and local school and community events. She enjoys mentoring students who are interested in pursuing careers in dentistry and orthodontics.
Professionally, Dr. Shrager is affiliated with the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Raleigh Wake Dental Society, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Spear Study Club, and The Raleigh Wake Society of Women Dentists.
Her interests include traveling, arts and most importantly, spending time with her family.She resides in North Raleigh with her husband Dr. Anthony Horalek, a fellow practicing endodontist, and her four children.
