While his private practice keeps him busy, he also pursues his other interests in cooking (and eating!), family time, golf, yoga, walking the beach and world travel. His travels have taken him to Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Japan, Latvia, Mexico, Okinawa, Philippines, and Russia. He currently resides in Waikapu with wife Vienalyn and daughters Summer & Autumn.
Aloha! My name is Elysa and I have been with Dr. Ogata since Nov 2017. I have been in the dental field since 2007 starting out at the Maui Oral Health center and then furthering my career in private dental offices, oral surgery and now here at Smile Hawaii. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my other half Stephen, our 2 dogs, our cat and Jackson Chameleons. I also love going to Alaska to go fishing in the summer and cooking!
I am bilingual in both English and Spanish. Prior to graduating Hygiene school from UHMC in 2011 I was fortunate to work in several aspects of dentistry and have gained a wide array of knowledge along the way. I have a cheerful personality, love building trusting relationships with patients while maintaining a comfortable environment. I married my husband, Eric in 2014, we have one daughter, Mahina. Together we enjoy being outdoors taking in all the beauty Maui has to offer.
Aloha, my name is Kamalei. I was born and raised on Maui. I moved to Washington at the end of 2013 to see what it was like being away from everything I knew. I realized how important it was to have my children grow up with family surrounding them, so I returned to Maui with my three boys at the beginning of 2018. I enjoy spending time with my kids.
Aloha! My name is Kari and I am so excited to be joining Dr Ogata and the Smile Hawaii team. I was born and raised in Wailuku, Maui. I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Hilo with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and a Minor in Biology. I furthered my dental career afterwards by obtaining an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Hawaii Maui College. My passion for Dentistry started in 2004 when I started working as an Orthodontic Assistant. I love caring for patients, building trusting relationships, true friendships, and ensuring a comfortable and positive dental experience. I am devoted to high quality care and educating patients on how to maintain good oral health based on their individual needs. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Marc, and our two daughters, Madison and Mila. We love to travel, fish and camp at the beach, and bond with our ohana.

We have been going to Dr. Ogata for years and highly recommend him. The entire team is super helpful and nice and they take the time to get to know you. They set a comprehensive plan for ensuring your dental health and work with you to achieve it.

Dr. Ogata and his team are fantastic! Maria is my dental hygienist and she does a great job! They truly care and they provide wonderful customer service! Their equipment is high end and top notch too! I would absolutely recommend this dentist!

Another exceptional experience today 10/19/2020 at Dr. Ogata's dental office. I find Dr. Ogata and his office to be among Maui's very finest. Dr. Ogata is a superb dentist, and his hygenists terrific. State of the art equipment (including Covid19 protection) and a caring attitude amongst all in the office. Ron Schecter Maria, my new dental hygienist, was terrific: thorough, gentle, and intelligent - a great combination. Ron Schecter One of the amazing aspects of Dr. Ogata's office is not only the superb technical skill of Dr. Ogata and his entire staff, but also the consistency of their application of that skill. Each visit is as fine as its predecessor. Additionally, the office continually incorporates all the advances in equipment. For example, a recently installed electric plaque scaler used in my cleanings finely regulates its water flushing element, so I no longer have that drowning sensation which earlier models caused. Ron Schecter My subsequent visits to Maria continue to find the same outstanding technical skill and caring experienced in my initial visit. I never thought I would look forward to having my teeth cleaned, but I now do. My wife uses another dental technician in Dr. Ogata's office, and is equally pleased. How fortunate to have such care available here on Maui! Ron My experience with dental hygienist Maria continues (this Sept. 2019) outstanding. In addition to her marvelous blend of thorough yet gentle cleaning technique, she educates how to improve my gum health by identifying the areas that need special attention, and specific approaches to use (including even a gentle massage!). My wife is similarly most pleased with her hygienist Sarah. All in all, a wonderful office! My teeth cleaning yesterday with my regular hygienist continues to be superb (see comments above). In addition, Teal, who covered for my wife's regular hygienist (who is on pregnancy leave) was terrific as reported by my wife. Teal provided my wife with multiple insights into brushing with a new electric toothbrush, state-of-the-art dental floss, etc. The hygienists in Dr. Ogata's office are jewels in the crown he has fashioned, making a marvelous compliment to the outstanding dentistry he (and his dental assistants) practice. March 1, 2022 yet another fantastic teeth cleaning with my regular dental hygenist Maria - thorough; nearly painless; informative; very pleasant. My gums continue to improve. Office is spotless, and staff thoroughly professional.

I've been seeing Dr. Ogata for years. The entire staff is wonderful from reception to the hygienist. I see Maria and I couldn't imagine seeing anyone else. She's the best.

I love Dr. Ogata and his staff. My family and I have had our dental health tended to for over 15 years. They are highly skilled professionals, caring, and considerate providing a safe environment for their patients. They have even gone overboard to provide safe care during covid 19. Dr. Ogata and his staff also tend to have a great sense of humor which helps make a dental visit enjoyable. Highly recommended!
