A Lancaster native, Dr. Patterson received his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and his D.M.D. from Temple Universitys School of Dentistry. He has achieved the distinction of Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, the gold standard for excellence in the practice of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Immediately upon earning his dental degree, Dr. Patterson served in the U.S. Navy at Pensacola Naval Air Station, where he underwent extensive post-doctoral training in Periodontics, Fixed and Removable Prosthetics, Oral Surgery and Forensic Dentistry. He served on the historic carrier, U.S.S. Lexington, and counted the elite Blue Angels flight demonstration team among his patients.

A sufferer of Obstructive Sleep Apnea himself, Dr. Patterson used a CPAP machine for several years. As more and more clinical evidence of the effectiveness of oral appliance therapy became available, he decided to test an appliance himself. He was thrilled (as was Sarah!) and never looked back. He trained in Dental Sleep Medicine at the prestigious L.D. Pankey Institute and has been practicing Dental Sleep Medicine ever since. He is an Active member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Because the busyness of his practice made it difficult to devote himself entirely to caring for snoring and sleep apnea sufferers, Dr. Patterson made the choice in 2018 to leave general practice and establish the Lancaster Snoring and Sleep Center.
