As a young girl, I looked up to my orthodontist, a kind man who seemed to enjoy his profession. Years later I understand the privilege of interacting with a family of patients that is appreciative. Orthodontic treatment is life-changing. I am honored to provide orthodontic care that requires precision and skill, yet improves the patients overall well being.

My husband and I are long-time residents of Daviess County and love spending time with our six children and three grandchildren. We have enjoyed serving in our church and community for the past 20 years, and hope to continue to be a part of it for years to come.

I am a certified dental assistant and started working for Dr. Helms in 2016. I assist her in the initial placement of braces and also instruct patients on oral hygiene and the overall care of braces and appliances. In addition, I am the inventory coordinator. I order the supplies for the assisting team. I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost one year now. In my spare time, I enjoy being outside, being active, drinking coffee, and spending time with my husband, family, friends and my four legged child, Fynn.

I started working for Dr. Helms in 2013 as the scheduling coordinator and then became Office Manager in 2016. I love working with people and developing relationships with our patients and their families. I am excited to work with an amazing group of girls who look forward to serving our patients with utmost respect and concern for all their orthodontic treatments. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children. I love to serve others and enjoy each new day!

Im the lab technician at Dr. Helms office, a lot of my work is done behind the scenes. I truly love my job. I make your appliances like expanders and retainers to custom fit your mouth. Our team members enjoy coming to work every day. Besides offering quality orthodontics, new technology and comfortable treatment, it is just a lot of fun to be here. I am a proud Nonnie to my granddaughter, Hazel, who is a true blessing. In my spare time, I enjoy running, camping, and spending time with my husband Marty and girls Mara and Mayli.

I handle a range of duties, from insurance to patient accounts. I focus on making the experience for our patient and their family members as convenient and stress-free as possible. My goal here at the office is to work behind-the-scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly for Dr. Helms, our team, and our patients on a daily basis. I assist with front office duties, so I may be checking you out or answering your phone calls from time to time. My biggest joy is spending time with my family, especially my niece and nephew.

I am an orthodontic assistant and am new to this team. I am excited to learn my new roles and look forward to serving our patients. My favorite animal is a giraffe. My hobbies include working out, spending time with friends and family, camping, eating out and trying new restaurants. I like to attend music festivals, go on road trips, and my number one love is traveling. There is nothing more I love than to be adventurous!

Dont worry; youll be eating popcorn and snacking on potato chips again in no time! However, before you can start enjoying some of the treats you love, you will need to take special care to avoid any foods that could damage your new appliances.

When you first get your braces, you may notice that your teeth and mouth feel a little tender or sore. This is perfectly normal for patients who have just gotten their braces put on, and we promise your mouth will not be sore forever! To relieve the pain, we recommend dissolving one teaspoon of salt in eight ounces of lukewarm water. Swish and gargle this solution in your mouth for just a couple of minutes (do not swallow the saltwater).

If the pain is more severe and does not go away after rinsing, you can also try taking a pain reliever. It is also not uncommon for your lips, cheeks, and tongue to become irritated for one to two weeks as they toughen and become used to the braces. We would be happy to give you some wax that you can put over the braces to lessen the tenderness. If you need some wax, please let us know!

If your teeth begin feeling a little loose, dont worry; this is normal! Your braces must first loosen your teeth in order to move them into the right position. Once your teeth have been repositioned, they will no longer be loose.

The wires and bands on your braces may come loose. If this happens, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can check and repair your appliance. If any piece of your appliance comes off, be sure to save it and bring it to the office with you.

You can temporarily fix the loose wire by using the back of a spoon or the eraser end of a pencil to carefully and gently push the wire back into place. If the loose wire is causing irritation to your lips or cheeks, put wax or a wet cotton ball over the broken wire to relieve the pain.

Damaged appliances can increase the length of your treatment process, so be sure to take care of all your appliances. Your teeth and jaw can only move into their correct positions if you consistently wear the rubber bands, headgear, retainer, or other appliances prescribed by your doctor.

Game, Set, Match we have great news for athletes! You can still play sports even while undergoing orthodontic treatment! If you do play sports, its recommended that you wear a mouthguard in order to protect your teeth and your appliance. Let your doctor know if you need help finding the right mouthguard for the best protection.

In case of a sports emergency, be sure to immediately check your mouth and your appliance for any damage that may have occurred. If you notice any loose teeth, or if your appliance has been damaged, please contact our office right away. You can temporarily relieve the discomfort with wax or by rinsing your mouth with warm saltwater.

Told my stepdaughter would be 2 -3 years in braces and might need teeth pulled. We found another orthodontics who doesn't do teeth pulling and only takes 15 months in aligners.
