I was inspired to become an orthodontist after my own positive experience with braces. As a teenager with crooked teeth I was embarrassed to smile, which affected my mood, confidence and the personality I projected. Enhancing my smile with braces gave me more confidence and allowed me to be the person I wanted to be. Having experienced the transformative effects of orthodontics myself, practicing as an orthodontist is especially gratifying for mepracticing in my home town of Kansas City makes it that much more special.
Dr. Ravi is active in a number of professionalsocieties including: the American Association of Orthodontists, the American DentalAssociation, the Missouri Dental Association, the Midwestern Society ofOrthodontists and the Eastern Jackson County Dental Group. To stay on the cuttingedge of the profession, he regularly attends continuing education courses, bothwithin the orthodontic specialty and in other dental disciplines.
Its more important than ever to brush and floss regularly when you have braces so the teeth and gums stayhealthy during orthodontic treatment. All orthodontic patients should continue to see their general dentist for check up visits. Patients who do not keep their teeth clean may require more frequent visits to the dentist for a professional cleaning. Adults who have a history of gum disease should also see their periodontist during orthodontic treatment. Watch the two videos below on the proper care of braces during orthodontic treatment.
What can you eat? Lets talk about what you shouldnt eat! For the first day or so, stick to soft foods. Avoid tough meats, hard breads, and raw vegetables. Before long, youll be able to bite a cucumber again. But youll need to protect your orthodontic appliances when you eat for as long as youre wearing braces.
When you get your braces on, you may feel general soreness in your mouth and teeth may be tender to biting pressures for 3 5 days. Take Tylenol or whatever you normally take for headache or discomfort. The lips, cheeks and tongue may also become irritated for one to two weeks as they toughen and become accustomed to the braces. We will supply wax to put on the braces in irritated areas to lessen discomfort.
To successfully complete orthodontic treatment, the patient must work together with the orthodontist. The teeth and jaws can only move toward their corrected positions if the patient consistently wears the rubber bands or other appliances as prescribed. Lack of cooperation following instructions and damaged appliances lengthen the treatment time so please follow instructions.

I've been going to Lakewood orthodontics for a while, and I've always had a smooth and easy time there. Everyone is so nice and makes sure your visit is as easy as possible. If you are looking for a ortho I would 100% recommend this place.

My experience at Lakewood Orthodontics was beyond anything I could have imagined. Dr. Ravi is kind, compassionate, skilled and artistic. He and his staff created a masterpiece of my mouth even in my more mature season of life (almost 60). The staff was always friendly and very efficient, the facility clean and attractive, and the scheduling always centered on my availability. I always felt completely at ease in the competent hands of each one of his staff. They always made sure I was comfortable and answered any questions or concerns that I might have. I have been pleasantly surprised since making my decision to take a journey on a mission of a more healthy mouth and presentable smile how many older people have approached me and shared their own desires but reluctance to follow into the same journey for themselves. The beautiful smile artfully crafted and shaped by Dr. Ravi and his staff has not only been a blessing to me, but an inspiration to many of my friends as well and just the encouragement they needed for their own journey. I went to Lakewood Orthodontics, and had Braces for 6 years. I should never have had them for that long, but I guess since my parents didn't pay on them as needed, I was left to pay the ultimate price, even as I had no control on how the braces were paid for. They moved my teeth much too fast in the beginning, and it ended up stunting the growth of my teeth roots. Now, almost 30 and I am still dealing with the fallout from going to this place.

When I called to schedule appointment, They were so clear and nice about everything, First time here and everyone was kind & helpful. Had to run out to get my car to get my card turned out I didn't have it they where willing to wait 10 mins for me to go to the bank and come back. Got my braces on that same day! Had braces put on by katlyn walked me through everything super fast and no pain! Definitely recommend!!

I really recommend lakewood orthodontist, The staff makes you feel very welcomed and very nice,respectful, and attentive. Excellent service and very kind to easily work to accommodate my appointments with my difficult schedule. Really appreciate all your attention. Love the turn out on my teeth :)

Dr. Ravi and his team have been amazing to me. Dr. Ravi is a perfectionist which is appreciated in your doctor! He takes such great care in his patients - he's cares about the person and the person's orthodontic journey. I was a jaw surgery patient and Dr. Ravi referred me to a great doctor and worked seamlessly with him. I honestly don't know what I would've done without Dr. Ravi. Also, his team is filled with the sweetest people. Kaitlyn and Melissa are the best assistants who not only take care of your braces but also care about the person in the chair. You really get to know the people after seeing them every month! Kendall is the sweetest, anytime you need to work with the front desk. The team here is super positive and the energy in the office is great. I look forward to coming in every month. While getting these braces off is super exciting, I'm sad to not see these people on a regular basis anymore. They've been great to me and I'll miss them! I would recommend KC Braces to anyone. This is the best place to go! I was nervous and a little embarrassed to start my braces journey as an adult but the staff was so supportive and made my smile the one I always wanted. Im actually going to miss coming here for my appointments because everyone always remembers the small details about you and everyone is so friendly.

My son Patrick goes to Lakewood Ortho and he loves the friendly staff and Dr Ravi, we were worried about our son having braces and the pain with moving teeth around but this was definitely not the case. They moved his teeth and he has a perfect smile and will miss the ladies in the office now that he is getting his braces off this month.

If you have to get braces, come here!!! Dr. Ravi and his staff did such a good job with my ortho treatment. I could not be happier with the results!!
