Dr. Mike Steinmetz received his Bachelors degree in biology from St. Johns University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota. He continued his education and completed a 2- year residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Steinmetz is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Steinmetz is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Minnesota Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the Minnesota Dental Association. He has been a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard since 2009 and continues to provide dental support for Minnesotas soldiers. Dr. Steinmetz has experience providing dental care for children in a clinic setting, as well as under moderate sedation and general anesthesia. He has provided dental care for children in several Minnesota communities including the Twin Cities, central Minnesota and Duluth. He is now providing dental care for the children in west central Minnesota, taking over the former practice of Dr. Stephen Whoolery. Dr. Steinmetz, his wife Jane, and daughter Bella, enjoy all that this beautiful area has to offer! In his spare time, you can find Dr. Steinmetz boating, fishing, hunting, making maple syrup in the spring, or watching football.

Dr. Mike is awesome I had another dentist told me that my daughter was gonna need surgery and he tried a different alternative because he knows that I'm not one that wants to put my daughter threw something that she doesn't need to be put through because she already has enough medical issues and stuff with her diabetes care

Brought all 4 of my young children in today for cleanings and not only were all the staff absolutely delightful. They remembered my preferences and allowed me to Make the choices I feel is right for my children without judgement. Thank you all for a fantastic visit at the dentist!

My daughter Camila loves coming here because the staff is really nice and the dentist, Dr. Mike, is careful and knowledgeable. And we love Ms. Robin because she's sweet and patient when insurance takes forever lol

As a former dental hygienist, my expectations of dental offices are extremely high. Dr. Mike and his staff raised the bar even higher. Thank you for your exceptional care and making my son's first dental experience better than we could have imagined!

I would 0 star this place. This is hands down the worst dentis I have ever taken my kids to. My daughter now has long term ptsd due to this place 3 almost 4 years later she is still absolutely terrified to go to the dentist and literally pees through her pants which she is fully potty trained. At 18 mo ths old they started drilling on her teeth or novocain no nothing and the guys said it's okay kids this young dont feel pain as shes literally screaming and crying. And we had to hold her down. By far the worst experience we have ever had. I'm glad we found a new dentist that actually cares about kids and knows what their soong and talking about.

Came to get my lil girls teeth taken care of and I can say this ive never been to a dentist where they are fast n kind. They exceeded all our needs.. I recommend this Dental office.

My children have been with Dr. Mike since he opened this office. Hands down the best staff, super with children and best of all, a great dentist! They found a rare condition in my child with X-Rays, explained everything, took time to show the condition and they took care of it ASAP to prevent other major problems.

As far as dental practices go, Dr. Mike and his team are AMAZING. The team took the time to answer every single one of my questions with extensive explanation and kindness -- never was I made to feel awkward or demoralized for asking a question, no matter how ambiguous or specific. Both of my boys (1 year old and 2.5 year old) were checked and had excellent experiences. My eldest had 2 cavities filled without ANY complaint. The team was there to walk me through what they believed was the best course of action (I even had the opportunity to have input! Crazy!) and then took excellent care of my boy. He barely squirmed as he watched Pets 2 on the TV while Dr. Mike worked. Thorough, caring, knowledgeable.... We'll definitely be back.

The appointment was amazing. My son did an awesome job. All the other times he would be terrified. Dr.Mike and (all) staff was amazing with him. I would definately recommend Dr. Mike.

Receptionist was rude that I wanted to pay bill in full out of pocket. Refused to see my son, because they dont deem it as an emergency through phone conversation. Refused to acknowledge the severity of his teeth. Kept saying mmmhmm. As I explained to rush me off the phone. I hung up on her. Would not reccomend if the receptionist is this rude.

I don't know how they can call them selves pediatric dentistry specialists! I have had my 3 and a 1/2 year old daughter there twice now, both times were very traumatic for her. The doctor had no patience with her, and took no time to walk her through what he was going to do. The best he could do was hold her down harder and let her scream. Both times she left with blood vessels broken around her eyes and, her cheek cut and bruised from the mouth expander. We were referred to them because of my daughter's "behavior" (being scared!) Our 1st appointment was made as a surgical appointment (to have her put under anesthesia to fix her cavities)and when we drove an hour to get there they told me her cavities were not "bad enough". Mind you that her enamel is chipping away on her front 2 teeth. I will NOT be going back!

My kids love coming to the dentist here. Dr Mike knows what he is doing and has the knowledge and efficiency it takes to work on children. And the rest of the staff are wonderful with children.
