Hi there! I'm Dr. Julie Spivey, and I want to welcome you to Lake Norman Pediatric Dentistry! I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. I attended The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) where I earned a B.S. in Biology and then went on to earn my D.M.D. from the UAB School of Dentistry. My husband, Dr. Reid Spivey, and I graduated from dental school together and both began practicing general dentistry in Alabama. For four years, I spent most of my time exclusively treating children, and I knew Id found what I was meant to do forever! Dr. Reid and I packed up our suitcases and moved to Hawaii so I could earn a specialty degree in Pediatric Dentistry from NYU Langone Health/Lutheran Medical Center. After two incredible years of learning and treating children on the Hawaiian islands, we decided to move closer to home and relocated to Charlotte. Reid and I are both excited and proud to be living in and serving the wonderful Denver community.
When Im not in the office, I enjoy traveling, reading, watching college football and spending time on the water. Reid and Iwelcomed our sweet baby girl Willa in November 2021. Our bulldog Dougie and LKNPD's therapy dog, Otter the Goldendoodle, complete our family.
My goals are to help each patient establish healthy habits at an early age, maintain a lifetime of oral health, and have fun when visiting the dentist! I truly enjoy teaching and talking with patients and their parents about how to prevent dental problems and have healthy smiles for life. Hi! My name is Halie. I was born and raised right here in Denver, North Carolina. I married my best friend Tate in December 2019, and we welcomed our precious baby boy Colt in August 2021. Our cat Toothless and rescue dog Dex complete our little family.
I spent several years working as a preschool teacher, where each child left a lasting impression on my heart. In 2018 I discovered my love for dentistry and began a new journey at Lake Norman Dental Assisting School in Mooresville. I have been part of the LKNPD family since we opened our doors in December 2018.

We drive 45 minutes to come to this office! While the main reason for that is that this is the only pediatric dentist in our area covered by our insurance, I think I would drive to this office either way! I've heard mixed reviews of more local pediatric dentists, and I have only been impressed with Dr. Julie and her team! My oldest in particular (she is 6 now) can get extremely anxious in medical scenarios, and they have done a great job each time of following her lead, never forcing her to do things before she's ready, and coming up with creative ways to help her feel comfortable and confident. I would highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist that will make you and your child feel seen and heard!

I originally liked this office when it was just Dr Spivey but the new dentist they got is absolutely awful. She lectured my poor child for 10 minutes about how she needed to floss. This child had zero cavities and has never had any kind of dental problems so there was no need for the condescending lecture. My daughter burst into tears as soon as we got to the car and said she didn't want to go back there ever again! I don't blame her. We switched to an adult dentist and are having a much better experience. In addition the hygienists/dentists constantly tell me things will be covered by insurance only to find out later that they were not covered. At my last appointment, I told them I didn't want sealants and they said, "insurance covers it" so I let them do the sealants. Surprise surprise! A couple weeks later I get the bill for sealants. Our new dentist doesn't do anything without letting me know exactly how much it will cost and I much prefer that! I will not go to this dentist any longer and I can no longer recommend them.

My kids love going to this dentist. The staff is wonderful and Dr. Julie Spivey is the best. She shows compassion, and patience with the kids. I live in charlotte and made the switch a couple years ago to this place and I absolutely love it, no regrets. The 35 min drive is soo worth it because I know my kids are in the best hands at LNPD.

Dr. Julie is amazing, she truly loves kids. It was our first visit to the dentist with my 15 month old and it was a great experience!

Such a wonderful office and great dental experience! The whole staff was so friendly! Dr. Julie and the dental assistants were so good with my kids! Plus we loved Otter, the therapy dog! Would recommend for anyone looking for a pediatric dental office! :)

Excellent staff, clean office, perfectly catered to children. They allowed my 2 year old to feel safe for his first dental visit and he's asking to go back!! I truly couldn't be happier with our experience at Lake Norman Pediatric Dentistry. It's a 20 minute drive from our home, but well worth it in my opinion.

Both of my boys have been seeing Dr. Julie Spivey for the past three years and let me tell you...they LOVE going to the Dentist now! The office is so warm and comforting, the staff makes sure that your kids are comfortable at all times. There's a cute little nook in the waiting area where kids can go and watch a movie as they wait, huge plus! Most of all, they are so inclusive. My youngest is on the Autism Spectrum, the staff works around his needs and go above and beyond to make sure he isn't overwhelmed. Highly recommend bringing your kiddos to LNPD!

I was nervous to take my daughter to the dentist just because I wasn't sure how she would do but the office seriously made it fun. They had a kitchen play set in the exam room, a sweet dog named Otter they brought in to meet us, they gave us stickers and balloons, and overall just made it such a great experience- for my daughter and for myself. I don't always do reviews but I feel like they deserve some praise. Great job LKN Pediatric Dentistry!!!

Best Pediatric Dentist hands down. My daughter is very hard to treat as she is extremely nervous and will not easily corporate. But the staff and Dr. Julie are amazing they help through the process, provide dental work and prevention. My kids always have the best experiences!! And Colby was an amazing hygienist. Thank you Lake Norman Pediatric Dentiatry! If the dentist had been luke this in the 1980s I would have loved going to the dentist!

My son had his first dentist appointment today and we loved our experience with Lake Norman Pediatric Dentistry! The staff was super friendly and the doctor was very nice. They were all very understanding of it being his first visit and made sure that he enjoyed it!

Dr Julie and her team did a phenomenal job with both of my daughters. My youngest had a filling done and Dr Julie made her feel at ease the whole time, but her favorite part was petting Otter (the therapy pup) while she was being treated. I felt like the hygienists took the time to get to know both my girls which made the cleaning process a breeze! I highly recommend Dr Julie Spivey and Lake Norman Pediatric Dentistry to anyone with kiddos. Great great experience

From the front desk to Dr. Julie, our first visit (and my 1.5 year old's first dental appointment) was great. The staff are so nice and you can tell they genuinely like kiddos. They gave us a craft to do while waiting (which wasn't long at all), and I thought that was super cute and a unique way to keep the kids entertained in a doctor's office. The office is very nicely appointed and very clean. Dr. Julie was great with my son and super easy to talk to. Looking forward to coming back for many years to come!

I called Lake Norman Pediatric Dentistry this morning because my son has an abscess on one of this teeth. He was not a patient of theirs, but he is now. I called, they said yes we can see him come in, we had less than a 5 minute wait which is amazing, they did X-rays to see what is going on, they got a treatment plan together and my boy is on his way to better dental health. He really liked all of them. He even said mommy they were super gentle when taking X-rays because they knew my mouth hurt. I'm very excited about our future with them.
