I dreaded taking my kids to the dentist until coming to Dr. Joe's practice. They had each of my kids (2 & 4) brush/water/suction a stuffed dinosaur's teeth before starting to get them comfortable with the sounds and sensations of a cleaning. Brilliant! My four-year-old is typically "orally defensive," but he hardly even noticed he was getting his teeth cleaned because he was so distracted by playing Wii Mario. Not only that, but I literally just overheard him telling his (remote) pre-K class, "Guess what? I got to drive a MARIO wheel while they cleaned my teeth at the dentist!! Look how shiny!" The teacher said "Wow I bet you didn't want to leave!" and he said "Nope, I wanted to stay forever and ever." Mario or not, it's obvious that every single person who works at this office truly cares about kids and only proceeds when your little ones are ready. At the end of the cleaning, my boys each got to pick out stickers and point (Covid) to two toys that they wanted to take home from a treasure box. Dr. Joe and I sat down for a post-visit consult while the dental assistants lovingly played with my kids, where he patiently went over the treatment plan, x-rays, cost, tips, and questions. I love that consultations are even a thing, let alone one where they confirm all (completely fair) costs before doing anything. I never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait to come back next time. This place takes pediatric dental visits from something you want to get over with to an experience remembered fondly.

We had a great experience with Dr. Joe and his team for our 2.5 year old twins. The practice is super clean and well organized and its completely kid-centric. It was our first visit, yet we were all greeted by name. They have a process they step the kids through to make the visit fun (see my photos). We were given the chance to accompany our twins or let them go on their own. We chose the latter, but then got the invitation to peek in on them at various stages, and to my surprise they were actually having fun--at the dentist! At the tail end of their visit we were sat down in a consultation room and filled-in our the details of our boys' dental health, what they should be doing every day, how we can help, etc. We left with a nice packet of information as well as some photographs taken during their visit. It was an all-around terrific experience. Highly recommended.

Dr. Joe and his staff are amazing, the office is clean and they keep things running on time and in good order. The office caters to children with toys, TV's and all things to make them feel comfortable and accommodated. I have every confidence in Dr. Joe's practice and never feel uneasy about anything while my children are in the care of this amazing group of people. The below review to me, is an unfair one and should not sway the decision or to place judgment on the practice. A lot of doctor offices have policies in place like this; so much so some don't even allow you to schedule or come back at all to the practice or charge you for cancelling or missing; which Dr. Joe's office does not. This is at least giving a fair option which helps to accommodate those busy working parent schedules and changes (speaking from experience & coming from a 2 parent working household with 2 young children and busy schedules as well). In my opinion if it gets to this point, it at least gives a great options to schedule as you need without the worry of having to cancel last minute or get kicked out of a great practice. Dr. Joe is the only doctor in the practice and always has been, so when your kids are there he is focusing on them and their appointment time. When people don't show there is a doctor and staff without patients in the office. It's not like other offices where there are several doctors and the staff can just tend to kids who are there to see other doctors. Highly recommend this office for children, we love Dr. Joe and all his staff!

My son went in for his 2nd appointment at Lake Forest Pediatric Dentistry today. While the staff is kind and the office is clean , I left there feeling incredibly uncomfortable today. When we were checking out and I went to make our next appt, I was told that I was not allowed to schedule an appt because I had rescheduled this current one about 3x. Instead - I could only call in to schedule a 'day of' appt' (hoping that someone cancelled that day). Now - we are a family of 5 with 2 working parents. As many of you know - meetings and business travel are often scheduled very last minute. Whenever I rescheduled a dentist appt it was always because of work, and I made sure to reschedule at least a few days in advance. I was NOT at all happy that Dr. Joe's office was penalizing me for this. I am actually so unhappy by this that we will probably end up switching dentists. I'd prefer going somewhere that is understanding and accommodating to the realities of parenting and busy/forever changing schedules.
