Dr. Atkinson received his bachelor of Science degree from Samford University in Birmingham. He later attended the University of Alabama School of Dentistry where he earned a doctorate degree in medical dentistry in 1990.
When not in the Dental office Dr. Atkinson spends hundreds of hours on continuing education in order to stay abreast of all the new dentistry innovations including new techniques and technology. In his time away from work he enjoys spending time with his wonderful son Stuart Jr. and dog Austin.
For over 15 years, Ave has transformed dental practices into successful businesses. She is a rare individual who understands every aspect of the dental practice from chairside to administration, admission, assessment, treatment planning, insurance claim management and patient education. Ave is efficient, thorough and dedicated to work and family. With her work ethic and attention to detail; she is a valuable addition to our practice.
Sarah is the first smiling face to greet you at the Lake Crest Family Dentistry. With her multitasking skills and 'can-do' spirit, Sarah is ready to meet and care for all our current patients and welcome new patients. When not on the phone with patients, you will find her effortlessly tackling anything else that needs to be done in a busy dental practice; smiling the entire time.
Catarina's focus on helping our patients and their familes achieve their best overall health is one of her driving priorities as a healthcare provider. She is enthusiastic about making out patients smile and feel better about themselves and their health. We are fortunate to have Catarina's strong philosphy of patient centered care she truly makes a difference in our patient's lives.
Madisen is the newest member to your hygiene team. Her Hygiene skills combined with in-depth knowledge in oral healthcare make her an incredible addition to our dental team. Madisen is excited about meeting all of our patients and contributing to the continuing care of each one of you.
Brandi returned to our Team in 2019. Join us to welcome her back! Brandi loves helping patients and delivering dental care that is best suited for each individual patient. She enjoys seeing a smile on a patients face when they leave our office.

My favorite dentist office!!! I love the staff, always pleasant, which makes the experience calming. My new hygienist was very professional and knowledgeable about the proper care for your teeth. I had a deep cleaning which I was nervous about. Ms Connie decreased my fears by explaining each step and talking me through it. She did an amazing job.....E. Allen

I have a fake front tooth that I cracked in half when young. It was a complex break resulting in a root canal and metal post implant that have required continuous follow-up and maintenance in the decades since. Needless to say, I've been in and out of dentist offices more than average person--so trust me when I say: Dr. Atkinson and his team are among the best of the best. Dr. Atkinson was so attentive, as was his technician, Ave. The two of them seemed to care more about the perfection of my crown and smile than even I did!! And on top of their commitment to going above and beyond, Dr. Atkinson and his team were so pleasant, patient and kind. After I left, they continued to follow-up to make sure I was happy with the crown. For first time in years, I feel so confident in my smile, thanks to them. Couldn't recommend more highly! Definitely go to this dentist!

The office was great and Dr. Atkinson was very knowledgeable and helpful in coming up with treatment options. If you are a normal patient I recommend him, but if you are like me and a chronic pain patient I do not recommend. I understand he is doing what he sees as best course of action but denying pain medication after a procedure because I take a nightly pain medication is not right. Agree or disagree that is your opinion but until you live the life of a person in chronic pain you don't know what you are taking about. Most of us feel more pain than you can imagine and dental procedures are painful and take a few days to get over.

Great New Patient Experience, Cleaning was done by knowledgable and friendly staff and Dr. Atkinson presented me with a well thought out plan for my next visit. Can't say enough as to how well this whole office is run! Would highly recommend!

The staff here are extremely friendly and the environment is very pleasant; The work itself is high quality and we enjoyed being patients here. ***BUT BEWARE*** The finance office participates in a "pre-approval" process that is designed to confirm insurance coverage for your treatment before you show and before treatment is rendered. We were told that a series of our treatments were fully covered by our insurance. We later found that there was a gap in coverage during several of our appointments and we were billed in full. It was our understanding that when we were told a visit was 100% covered, that it was indeed verified and covered. I guess "pre-approval" is a loose interpretation. Speaking from a VERY expensive lesson learned, DO YOUR INSURANCE VERIFICATION YOURSELF. Their report of your insurance coverage is not kept up to date and may not be correct. We are extremely disappointed in this misleading process and are currently searching for a new dentist.

Everyone was very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. The staff and doctor were very engaging and I felt a personal connection with them right from the start. The office decor and Christian environment was very pleasant. They even had a book in the reception area with quotes by one of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis. I highly recommend them.
