PLHS is licensed to operate 81 acute care hospital beds including Labor and Delivery, Telemetry, Critical Care, and general hospital. Hospital services also include a 24-hour emergency department, surgery capabilities, Interventional Cardiology, and services providing diagnostics and imaging services.
PLHS also operates Prairie Lakes Cancer Center, Prairie Lakes Mallard Pointe Surgical Center, dialysis units in Sisseton, SD, Watertown, SD and Ortonville, MN, rehabilitation services, and specialty services. Specialty services are a focus of PLHS to bring needed care to the region. These specialties include Cardiology, Dermatology, Ear, Nose & Throat, General Surgery, Hospice, Home Care, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Urology, and Wound Care.
Shaun always had a mole on her neck that was light in color. Then people at work started commenting on how they thought it had changed, so Shaun had it checked out by Dr. Smith. Thats when she learned she had melanoma. Dr. Smith helped Shaun determine the right course of action for her treatment.
I have just a little scar here. I can barely tell, said Shaun. I do see people, (like) customers at work or something, and Ill see a spot that I havent noticed before. I tell them all the time, you maybe should go see Dr. Smith.

Wasn't impressed with the care my kids received - I had higher expectations for this being a pediatric dentist. Voiced my concern and was told they didn't think my kids should return.

I have been bringing my children here for almost 10 years. The dental service was 'ok', but the billing department is terrible. I relocated to MN and still traveled for these dental visits. The billing dpt couldn't seem to get their act together once the insurance changed. Because I had to take the time out of my day to call the insurance company after every visit, and advised their staff of this inconvenience, I was told to inform them of where they could forward my childrens dental records for future appointments!!

My 2 year old had her first dentist visit today here. Everyone we met was sweet and went out of their way to put my daughter at ease. They let me go back with her and I was very impressed with how they explained everything they were going to do in a very age appropriate manner. Even though they seemed to be quite busy, the dentist and the hygenist both took time to answer alll of my questions. We are thrilled with how positive our daughter's first dental experience was!
