Since the doors opened inJuly, 2001, theLake Area Free Clinic has welcomed individuals and families who lack health insurance and whose income is below 250% of the federal poverty level. Many of these individuals work full-time, but are either not offered health insurance, or cannot afford the premiums.
We serviceall of Waukesha County, plus the Oconomowoc Area School District (which includes Summit, Ixonia, and Meadowview). The map below shows the service area for the Oconomowoc Area School District.
That day, Betty Schumacher, our founding nurse, represented LAFC in the Oconomowoc Independence parade along with LAFC volunteers; Maureen Stapleton, Michael Rode, Amberly Solorzano, and staff members, Mary Reich (LAFC Executive Director) and Megan Welsh (LAFC Development Director).
In 2001 the Lake Area Free Clinic (LAFC) opened its doors for the first time and has been providing medical services to the residents of Waukesha County who lack health insurance and the ability to pay for health care ever since. Over the past 20 years thousands of Waukesha County residents have received medical care, medication and practical information needed to improve and maintain their health. The Clinic also serves as a valuable resource arranging for follow-up medical services and offering assistance with enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace or BadgerCare. LAFC is an independent 501(c)(3) organization funded solely by donations and grants.
Meeting a Major Need The Lake Area Free Clinics core purpose is to meet the widest range of health care needs of the economically challenged that it is able to support.After identifying a glaring lack of access to preventive and basic dental services for low-income Waukesha County adults who were on BadgerCare or uninsured, LAFC opened its dental clinic in late 2017. Since that time, the Clinic has delivered compassionate, high quality dental care and support in a highly efficient environment with a dedicated staff of dental professionals.

I have visited this clinic twice now and I have to say each time I've never been more pleased with the service and treatment. The establishment looked cleaned and organized. Each dentist I saw was professional and gentle. They could improve on returning messages if someone tries to cancel, but I would definitely recommend going here. Everyone was also masked which I appreciated.

I searched and searched for the right dentist one that cared enough to take the time to explain what was what that didn't lie nor sugar coat but was also kind and I finally found that "Dentist Hernandez" is busy due to a lot of patients kinda quick with you but takes what time he has to explain dental plans but friendly funny honest upfront and all around a good dentist I can't say I've had too many good dentists but I plan on staying at this dental office the "manager Carry " was very helpful and went above and beyond to help me with a dental plan I can't thank her enough!!!! I feel like my teeth will be in way better shape with the dental work they do and the honesty they give to patients I highly recommend this dentist office Clean office Good staff Great dentist Great manager Willing to work with patients Honest Affordable for the most part $$ and may be willing to help in situations Good background music choices 5 stars!!!!!!! 11/9/21

Fantastic staff! My mouth is a literal train wreck, the Dr.s and Techs have been really great (and never judgy about the state of my teeth). They're good with numbing, making the shots as tolerable as possible and making sure enough numbing is in place before proceeding. I'm able to get an appointment at least once a week and frequently get a call to see if I want to come in earlier. A+++
