There is quite a bit of history in our quaint little dental office here in Carthage, NY, in the North Country. This north country dental office has been in operation for nearly 60 years. Founded by Dr. John S. Trowbridge, here is where he practiced for 53 years of his career. At retirement, Dr. Trowbridge passed the torch to two North Country dentists, Dr. Scott and Robert LaClair, where they have practiced together until 2012, when Dr. Rob became sole practitioner of LaClair Family Dental.
Dr. Rob was born in Ogdensburg, NY and has lived in just about every small North Country town north of Syracuse. Primarily raised in Hermon, NY, he graduated with 32 students from Hermon-Dekalb Central School.
Continuing on to LeMoyne College, Syracuse, NY and University at Buffalo NY Dental School, Dr. Rob immediately came back to the area where he grew up to serve the community, working alongside Tammy Trowbridge, Dr. Trowbridges daughter-in-law, office manager. Devoted to a lifetime of community service, they have spent the last eight years of their dental careers meeting the needs of the Carthage area people and it will be their distinct pleasure to serve this community into retirement. I went there about 10 years ago (this is retroactive review). I had gaps that formed right next to my top front teeth due to prenatal gingivitis. The dentist recommended resin which was built onto my second insicisors and helped close the gap. About 10 years later they still look great, they haven't discolored, they haven't broken off or cracked, and I have had dentists that couldn't tell that I had had that done. I'm very pleased still 10 years later.

Dentist has one-size-fits-all approach to his patients, is very condescending, and gives no acknowledgement of mental disorders or obvious patient distress. Please read patient charts and take into consideration all aspects of the person before making a care plan, and be more conscious of how you speak to others. My dental assistant, Lindsay, was personable and caring. This review in no way reflects on her, or her professionalism.

Would give this place 0 stars if I could. They're closed all the time and won't return a phone call.wouldn't recommend this dentist office to anyone.

Very good dentist. I was cautious about my next dentist because my last one messed my teeth up. Dr LaClair actually explained what was wrong with the tooth and steps we could take to fix it. Will definitely recommend this dentist.

Words cannot express the amazing atmosphere at this dental office. I have dental anxiety ( I cry while I'm in the chair) and its hard for me to make an appointment. My friend told me about Laclair and I trusted her enough to try it. I was not disappointed. Dr. Laclair fixed my chipped tooth and filling in one sitting. I still cried before the procedure but the assistant rubbed my hand and Dr. Laclair actually wiped my tears. He talked me through the entire procedure and it really helped. I will recommend them to everyone I know!

I am so thankful to have such a wonderful team close by that I can trust and know that they always have my well-being in mind! I have been very, very satisfied with everything that they have done for my teeth! I have almost done it all! Dr. Rob and his entire staff are the best! They are always professional, friendly, thorough, flexible, generous with suggestions for continued dental health. I cannot say enough what a pleasure it is to be a patient of Dr. Rob's. I drive an hour to get to my appointments, even though there are dental practices closer to my home. I was beyond happy and relieved at how Everyone made me feel like they were there to help me. I feel confident that I will feel more at ease and less Anxiety at Laclair Family. The approach to saving our teeth through care and treatment was refreshing to me.

Excellent service and care. Best dentist I have ever been to. Equipment and methods are current if not in the forefront of dental technology. Will continue to see Dr Rob as long term patient. A good dentist is hard to find and he is one of them. I highly recommend!

I cannot say enough about my experience today at LaClair Family Dental! I was beyond impressed. You can tell the dentist and staff care about their patients! They were very professional and knowledgeable about the current world situation concerning Covid-19 and had all the necessary precautions and cleaning protocols in place. I felt safe and welcomed. The Dentist actually cleaned my teeth! He went above and beyond to recommend a sleeping device and explain why it would help me with my headaches and teeth grinding. They made me feel like they genuinely care about me and my family's oral health! I am genuinely impressed with their customer service as well as the dental services they provide! Zero wait time, a friendly staff, and a doctor who was very gentle (first time I didn't flinch during a filling!). If you're ever worried about going to the dentist: don't be, and go see Dr. Rob!
