We guide children through the dental visit in a fun and age-appropriate manner which allows them to feel comfortable. Dr. Sonias gentle guidance and state-of-the-art facilities with advanced technology all work together to create an environment where parents and children can expect the best and also have fun.
Dr. Sonia Soo Hyun Lim is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She received her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and completed two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Lutheran Medical Center in New York. She has taught at NYU College of Dentistry and Mount Sinai Hospital. She has held privileges in several hospitals in New York while developing expertise in treating special needs children.
Her expertise in behavioral approach to dentistry has gained traction not only among the high-end dental offices but also to the children and families of Native American tribe in Tacoma, Washington. After crisscrossing the country with her physician-husband, she has finally returned to Southern California to raise their children close to her family.
She is now residing in La Canada and is an active member of La Canada PTA. As a mother of two school-aged children herself, her gentle and patient approach to treatment makes dental visits easy and comfortable. She is able to empathize with parents and understand how parents feel when their children experience dental treatments.
Your anesthesia care will be provided by Dr. Bankie, a board-certified Dentist Anesthesiologist, who has dedicated her practice to the delivery of anesthesia and sedation services to the dental profession only. Dr. Bankie is a Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology. This credential is the highest level of anesthesia training that can be achieved in dentistry. She actively holds certifications in Basic life support, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced life support.
Dr. Bankies career in the dental health profession started in 1993 when she obtained her bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Southern California. She advanced her education and attained a Doctoral Degree in Dental Surgery from The USC. She then continued on to Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and completed her postdoctoral credentials in dental anesthesiology.
Dr. Bankies medical training included Loma Linda University Medical Center, a trauma facility with sixteen operating rooms, Riverside County Medical Center, and Jerry L Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital where she treated patients with compromised medical histories for various medical procedures and rotated through cardiology, internal medicine, acute and chronic pain management. She received further specialized training at the Special Care Dentistry Clinic at the Loma Linda School of Dentistry, which sees nearly five thousand patients annually, primarily comprised of pediatric and adult special needs patients.
Because of her background and her focus on providing services only for dentists, she understands the dental procedure and can anticipate the needs for each procedure and patient. By providing strict and vigilant anesthesia care, Dr. Bankie creates a safe and comfortable experience for her patients while allowing the dentist to perform quality dental work in an efficient manner. Dr. Bankie is a proud member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, and American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologist.

We had a great experience. They greeted us and welcomed. All the questions were answered and the procedure was explained . We didn't have to wait long.. prompt service..thank you very much.. my teenagers love it.

My son has been going to Dr. Lim for all of his pediatric dental care and he absolutely loves going to the dentist! La Petite is a fabulous office for children, putting them at ease for every visit. Children watch movies during their exams and Dr. Lim and the entire staff are simply the best! I have endlessly referred other families within our local school district to her office as well and always receive favorable feedback!

THANK YOU! Our baby girl had to have two teeth removed, and the team at La Petite could not have been more warm and patient with us. She's our first born, and had never been under anesthesia before. But after a quick visit it was clear she needed to be put under. They walked us through the process, checked in with us and got us in and out quickly. We went to another pediatric dentists office before, and wish we came here first.

Dr. Lim is amazing! I can't express enough how much I am grateful for having found her and her office. The staff was amazing with my child. They are very professional. I brought my child here for a second opinion because the first dentist I took him to diagnosed my child with 6 cavities and said 2 of them needed to be crowns. Upon getting a second opinion from Dr. Lim she informed me he actually only has one cavity. If it wasn't for COVID I totally would have hugged her! She saved my son from a lot of unnecessary dental work, pain and trauma. Our almost hour drive to her was well worth it and I now know she is a doctor I can definitely trust with my son's dental work. Her office also has a lot more modern technology that put me at ease like the anesthetic wand and nomad X-rays. They help make the kid's dental experience not as scary or uncomfortable. My son loves going to the dentist now! Thank you La Petite Kids Dentist!

Our experiences with Dr. Lim and her staff have been nothing less than exceptional. They are professional, caring, and gentle in every way. I am very happy to have found La Petite Dentist. Dr. Lim is excellent. Her staff is knowledgable and patient. I love that my questions are answered with respect. My son loves the distraction that is offered by the latest kid shows during his cleanings and exams. A positive childhood experience with dentistry is a big key in adult dental health. I am so glad to be giving that gift to my child.

I have been taking my daughter to La Petite Dentist for some time now, and I absolutely love it! We tried a few different dentists before finding this gem. This staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. All procedures and long term care plans have been well explained to me, while making sure I was aware of all my options. They make sure my daughter is comfortable and happy throughout our visit, which is very important for kids who are uneasy about going to the dentist. Highly recommend!

I have been coming to la petite since my daughter has been 2. They are always so friendly and make my daughters experience so pleasant. My daughter actually looks forward to the dentist because she feels comfortable. They also have movies for them to watch while getting serviced which is the cherry on top for her.

What can I say about this office that has not been said before?! First the office is in a great location and provides validated parking. The office is always clean and you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in the door. The office is stocked with self serve coffee and water. Now to the most important thing the staff ! Everyone is amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Sonia Lim always has a warm and kind smile that makes you feel comfortable and you know your child is in great hands. She can answer any questions that you have and works to make sure your child leaves with out being scared to come back. Any chance I get I make sure to recommend this office to family, friends and coworkers. Recently I learned my coworker started to bring her children here Based on my recommendation. Prices are also very reasonable and will work with you to find the best payment plan. Daughter- I like going to La Petite Dentist because they are very kind to me and because they always have a smile on their face. I will highly recommend everyone to bring their children here.

My son has autism so it was very hard to find a dentist to properly accommodate my sons needs until I came across La Petite kids dental. Doctor makes my son and myself feel very comfortable during treatment. I definitely recommend her!

I have been coming here since my son was one. He is now 3 and very comfortable coming here as he looks forward to watching the videos and getting a "surprise" after his visit. Dr. Sonia Lim is truly amazing. Both my boys have been seeing her for almost 2 years. They love to come in and grab a movie and are actually excited to be there. Dr. Lim is gentle and explains everything to the kids in her soothing voice. She came highly recommended from our orthodontist friend. The office is clean and modern. Most importantly she is thorough without pushing anything unnecessary. She wants what's best for the kids and really cares. We are very happy with the office and Dr. Sonia.
